    Nice videos mate love your content honest review, your tank and set up is nearly exactly like mine to all the equipment, I had the BM skimmer then the motor packed in while I was on holiday, it would do while your away. Decided to get the nyos 120 which is amazing expensive for it is but nevertheless I'm like you looking at upgrading to a 350 next year so it will fit perfect. Keep up the great content I will be following

      Mogsys Aquarium thanks for your kind words pal, the tank is still thriving (to the point where all of the corals are now hitting and fighting each other) so I’ll be glad to get them moved over to the 425 now. Not sure if you’ve seen the other vids yet pal but I’m going to be doing a complete build series on the 425 for the life of the tank with all the ups and downs I face 👍 hope they help 😊 I did a tank install for a guy in reading who bought a nyos (gota say the build quality is fantastic!)

      @@ukreefer4907 yes the build quality is very good on the skimmer I'm new to the hobby and studied for 1 yr B4 buying it now I wish I bought a larger tank now, it's all trial and error with this hobby but seriously additive. Can't wait for your next build I'm going to be doing a manifold on my next one and running it off a vortech M1 that way I can adjust flow via gate valves, no more pumps in the sump

      Mogsys Aquarium the great thing about the 170 is the steep learning curve pal, after 6 months though I also wished I’d got a bigger tank but now I’m dreading moving it all over as it’s thriving so well. The new build series is going well so far (I’m doing a video at the weekend about how I’m currently cycling the 425 along with a recap on the 170 so you can all see it’s still alive 😊). I seriously thought about running my manifold off the return pump (I still might extend it in the future)

      I think back then it was Ai hydra 12 hours per day with a 4 hour ramp up and a 4 hour ramp down 👍 videos are starting up again over Christmas 😊

    Hope the 425 going well, but question on this old tank, how have you got the ATO set up , i see it looks like you have a Tunze 3155 going into the Redsea Res then using the float valve, is this correct. Plus and if it is the Tunze how do you rate it.

    • @ukreefer4907
      @ukreefer4907  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mads1 it’s amazing looking back at the videos of this old tank, was the main reason I started it 👍 I had the tunze nano osmolator pal which fed from a 25 litre drum into the Red Sea reservoir (after a few months I just took it off and fed it direct into the return section buddy. I really rate the tunze pal, really decent Ato’s 👍

    Just purchased the bubble Magnus media reactor. Waste of £40! Any suggestions for an upgrade? Thanks

      Dean Taylor yep pretty rubbish pal, I just keep mine now if I’m helping people do tank installs as it’s great to fill with floss and leave running just to clean up sandy water. If you like the pump in the bottom I’d look at the nyos torque reactor, I’m building a manifold for mine so I’ve got the deltec fr509 on mind although it’s big money compared to the bubble magus (is in the same bracket as the nyos tho) 👍

    Hey uk reefer, I’ve recently just finished watching your videos, and yesterday ordered a reefer 170, I would love some advice on sump media etc, any advice you could give would be amazing as this would be my first marine tank with a sump

      Darryl Hamlin hi Daryl, thanks for your message and support buddy. Hope the videos are helping I’ve got a lot more coming 👍 in terms of sump media I’ve used Seachems biomatrix in a filter cup with some filter floss on top which I switch out every 3 days, red seas carbon and rowaphos to keep on track with phosphates 👍 I’m going to start filming a Q&A based on questions I get asked so if there is anything you would like included let me know buddy

      UK Reefer thanks for the reply, I would be good to know what you think about adding bio blocks/balls to the sump? Are they worth it?
      Just hope I chose correctly on the skimmer and lighting lol

    • @ukreefer4907
      @ukreefer4907  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Darryl Hamlin no worries pal, I try and reply to everyone, the support the channels had has been great 👍 I’ve got the marine pure balls in my 425, I’ve heard people say about aluminium leaching but I’ve not noticed anything through the icp tests I’ve sent off. It certainly won’t hurt having them or the blocks as it will give you even more surface area for bacteria but I will keep my eye on the icp’s moving forward. Which skimmer and light did you go for?

      UK Reefer the Red Sea reefer 300 and hydra 26, I was looking at the Red Sea led 90 but I’ve heard bad reviews on the Red Sea led app being pretty pants lol

    • @ukreefer4907
      @ukreefer4907  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Darryl Hamlin I’ve heard the same pal about the app, I’ve been using hydra 26hd’s for around 2 and a half years and they’re great, they grow coral well and the coverage is fantastic. I went to look at the Red Sea skimmers when I was looking to upgrade but ended up going for the deltec 1000i pal 👍 let us know how you get on with the Red Sea 👍

      Hi pal, this is a very old video now but back when I had the 170 I’m sure I was doing a 25 litre water change every week, the Red Sea blue bucket salt was 38.2 grams per litre for me 👍

      @@metalhead9656 I’m sure you’ll love it mate. I used the 170 to try out different corals and products to work out what I like so I could then take that into a bigger tank. If you’ve kept big fresh water before I imagine you’ll have a big reef in no time 👌 thanks for the sub pal much appreciated 🙌
