With the cooling fans, if you have them sat at the rear opening to your caninet, do you need to have them facing a certain way to ensure they don't have the opposite effect of blowing the moisture back into your tank?
I keep seeing diaphragms on the middle e drain but mine is on the main drain to sump and I have even talked to Red Sea and my book and they said it’s alway on the main drain to dial in the water to be quiet as possible. Why would you want yours on emergency overflow drain or to dial in a e drain to be quieter. Water shouldn’t be continuously going down the E drain and only used in an emergency of main is clogged. What am I not understanding about your setup vs mine?
Ngl I never thought of a true lighting answer to the inside of stands. And I honestly think you've found the best! Please give links to the ikea lights and switch!
The issue with the outlet splitter is the increase of head pressure. I had a hose blow off due to it, so I removed that and added one straight hose instead.
For installing the gate valve, how do I know which size to use and would I need to do it immediately setting up the tank or can it be done at a later date?
When you made your freshwater reservoir upgrade, was it difficult to dismantle the system the tank came with and use the new system? That's what I want to do with my first tank, but not sure if it's easy to do.
Wicked video. Has helped me a lot. I have a red sea reefer 625 xxl. I wanted to ask what size (in mm) spears gate valve do I need to get. As I'm going to replace the stock valve a its driving me insane soo hard to adjust haha. Also what extra pipes do I need to get? Would you please be able to send me a link to them. I was also thinking of doing a manifold as well. But can't seem to find any good pipes anywhere
You need to screw brackets in, then clip the lights onto the bracket. The screws are hidden behind the light so not exposed but the bracket is - mine haven't shown any signs of rust so far but I don't know if the brackets are aluminium or steel. I'd guess steel as it's cheaper!
@@ReefDork Ok nice! I thought that maybe the screws was to long and would go through the aquarium 😂 are you happy with them? I had battery lights in the cabinet in the old tank and it was a pita
They're fantastic! I hate battery lights and ones you have to manually turn on and off. If you lean into the sump and cover the sensor, it sometimes goes dark. But if you have several lights, one usually stays on
Yeah and you can always switch it to always on while you are in the cabinet if it goes dark... I did that several times with my battery lights and forgot about it and returned to almost empty batteries haha. Will get the ikea ones!
Now that you have had the cabinet fans for a while, would you still recommend them? I need to replace ones I have been using but there are so many to choose from but then I remembered this video. Any recommendations you or any other reefers have would be much appreciated.
100% - they're fantastic. Cabinet is noticeably less humid now so the walls don't get sweaty and any metal equipment/screws etc is far less likely to rust. There's a link to mine in the description - just make sure you take the metal cages off.
And here are 6 bits of kit I wish I knew about from the start - th-cam.com/video/le5OHywplGY/w-d-xo.html

As long as they point towards the exit, you're good.

@@ReefDork ha ha your not wrong Alex...always a new toy...coral...fish...Tank.
@reefdork do you have a measurement of the drain pipe's outer diameter?

Pretty sure it's 32mm but email Red Sea to confirm. I'll be doing this for my Peninsula 500 soon and will post a video showing the process...
Do you have any vids regarding making a manifold for a reefer 250 ?
I've done a couple of sump videos about manifolds but nothing specificly about making them 😔
where did you get that side table (the tan one with the holes in it) to hide the top off storage?
Ikea - it's called 'Hol'
Who makes those white boxes you keep all your power supplies in?
D-line
I am having a mental block, what are the hooks you have used for your turkey baster and grab claw called?
Is that an oil and vinegar cruet on the second container on the left side of the cabinet? You're a mad lad! What's it for?
🤣 It's for iodine. I wanted something heavy so it wouldn't fall over and small.
How did you attach your ikea lights? With the screws?
