    Your tank looks really good! I'm thinking of a Red Sea 170 so this is great to see the potential.

    I’m getting the reefer 170 soon and if I get mine looking anything like yours I’d be super happy! Excellent work. I’m from Birmingham too so I know of the store you mentioned. I go there often.

      ANGRYMASTIFF thank you mate appreciate the comments. With you being not too far from me I’d recommend deep blue in hinckley too 👍 I’ve actually pulled the trigger today and ordered a reefer 425xl deluxe so I’ll be doing a complete build series from the start with that. If you fancy buying a 170 I’ll have one spare soon 😂👍

      Wow I’m not at all jealous. Not even now lol 😂 considering how local we are to each other I’d be more than happy to take your 170 of your hand.

      ANGRYMASTIFF I’ll keep you posted then pal 😊 at the minute I’m not sure if I’ll sell with the light (as I’m turning the 425 sump into a frag growing area) but I can assure you it’s all been looked after well. Dependent on price I might sell with the light but drop me ur email and I’ll send you a few options 😊. Skimmer, brand new return pump and wavemaker will certainly all be included. Keep in touch also as I’m sure there’ll also be plenty of frags available 😊

    Tanks looking Awesome!! Your tank is very similar to how I want mine to end up. Definitely looking forward to seeing the a.t.o. conversion and pod farm : )
    Keep them updates coming!!

      Gb J thanks for your comments pal, really appreciate it and glad that you like the videos 😊 the plumbing parts are arriving tomorrow so I’ll hopefully be building the manifold over the weekend. The refugium build will be a fairly big job so I may break it up over 3 videos. Manifold build, refugium set up and an exciting new fish that will live in the refugium 😊

      @@ukreefer4907 I'm just getting into the hobby myself. I bought a second hand RSM 130D on ebay for £66 and I plan to mod it and kit it out with new gear. Eventually i'd love to have a new Reefer 170. Hope you enjoy the upgrade mate!
      P.S nice channel. It's very reminiscent of Nathan Willards. You even have the same desk as him lol.

      Bazanji great to hear you’re joining the hobby pal, I’d wanted to do it for years but tried to do as much research as I could (TH-cam played a big part in that research which is why I’m now trying to give something back 👍) I never had a 130 but it sounds like you got a great deal if in good condition 👍 the 170’s are fantastic mate but since owning the 425 I completely recommend going as big as you can pal as this thing has been far easier to keep stable and I can now keep the bigger fish 😊👍 if you get stuck with anything just give us a shout mate 👍

    What a beautiful tank!!
    Iv'e personally only kept freshwater planted aquariums my whole life, but ive had a serious love and itch to try coral.
    In the last year i bought i new 6ft aquarium to finally make a reef now the hobby is much more "stable" and accessible, i slowly tore down all 5 of my fresh water tanks bar one to get ready for the transition.. and then i chickened out again and just made it into a freshwater aquascape. I'm here not a few months down the line totally regretting my decision! I'm really tempted to buy a 170, either the e series or the reefer 170 as its a nice size to begin with, its a shame none of my other tanks are wide enough :)
    Anyway, im totally going to check out the rest of your vids! if i could make my 1st reef tank as good as that id be hooked for life, great job!

    • @ukreefer4907
      @ukreefer4907  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The1NdNly thanks for the kind words 👍👍 the reefer 170 has now all been moved over to the new reefer 425 and all is going well 👍 if you have room for a bigger marine tank than a 170 id personally go bigger. Main reason I’d do that is the bigger water volume is more forgiving and will be a lot easier to keep stable 👍 thanks for the message and the support, my aim with this channel is to do everything openly and honestly to show all the ups and downs 👍 hopefully people can then benefit from the mistakes or the positives I get 👍

      @@ukreefer4907 Hey, no probs, you totally deserve it!!
      I was just watching your latest video, the 425 looks great and im sure it will look awesome in the next few months as you add more and it grows in!
      This is the exact reason i got the 6ft tank, its around 1000L with the sump (monster sump) id like to go bigger than the 170 but i don't think i could let myself spend £5k again this year on another decent setup.. we will see. Whats your plans for your 170 now? selling it?
      That sounds great! i love your content so far! ill be sure to watch all 12? of your videos! my best bit of advice is to make as many as you can. like un-boxing your new tank, setting it up, any time you add something, change something, just random blabbing while filming your tank, weekly tank updates(how's the 425, its been 3 weeks since your last vid?), when you go to your local fish store. etc etc. Literally anything you do with your tank film it and upload it, try and get one or 2 vids out a week if you have the time ofc. TH-cam will start to rank you higher and you'll soon get alot more followers :) Keep it up :)
      P.s i've always had my UV's hung horizontal when i used them, the key is to remove the air pocket before you flip it and have a non return on the intake to stop it going dry when you turn the pump off, never had a issue :)

    • @ukreefer4907
      @ukreefer4907  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The1NdNly thanks for the advice I really appreciate that 👍👍 the channel all started as something small to see how we got on but it’s had more interest than I thought, I’ll definitely be getting a lot more videos up and the next 3 are mixing foundation powders, culturing Copepods and another reef update 😊👍 the 170 has already been sold (a friend of mine bought it for his wife) but if you have the means to set that 6 foot tank up it would be incredible (when my 170 started going well I immediately regretted not going bigger as it limited me on the fish I could keep). I’ve gone with the 425 as the plan is to move house in around 3 years and the Mrs is looking at having the main display built into the wall (this 425 might end up a clown harem or something) but the amount of content I can produce from it all should hopefully be great 👍.
      Thanks again for your kind words and support it really is much appreciated and it’s people like urself that push me on to keep producing the videos 👍 hope you had a great Christmas and new year 😊

      @@ukreefer4907 Hey! sorry i totally missed this reply! No problem :) you'd be surprise how popular some of the most crazy stuff can get, so good content like this is bound to gather interest! I just noticed you have a new video out, just about to check it out! Haha i know right, the 6ft tank would look awesome as a reef but i think after spending a ton on it i think ill have to give it a year or 2 latest :P I went out and found a 30x30x24 inch (l-w-h) cube, its 93 US gallons (352L) without the sump, I think its perfect! large water volume (larger than the 425 i think?), great depth and 7.5ft of viewing space from the 3 sides, i just need to get it in the house now haha. Oh man, a fully built in system would be epic! you get to have your own fish room too ;) the 425 will be plenty big enough for now, should be able to grow out some epic colonies in 3 years in there :D
      No pobs! you deserve it! keep at it, ill be here to watch for sure :) And thanks, pretty slow as usual but i enjoyed the time off haha!

      The1NdNly that’s ok buddy I just appreciate the support pal, genuinely blown away by how many people have shown so much interest already so this year I think I’ll set some targets and see what I can do with the channel 😊 I’ve decided that every time I reach a milestone I’ll treat the tank to something (reaching 300 subscribers the first week in January was the first so I’m treating the tank to either a convict tang or a new coral) I’m thinking every time a major milestone gets reached I’ll add something special and do a competition give away of something I’m using 👍 that cube sounds great buddy, we have French doors on the back of our house which we were able to open and carry it through so hopefully you have something similar 👍 the big 6-8 foot tank in the wall is an amazing end dream, that’ll be something seriously long term but I know we’ll end up doing it as we get attached to the fish and won’t want to trade them in when they get big so it’ll be a good push. I learned so much with the 170 that I’ve taken into this 425 and now I’m learning even more through everything happening and people sending help and advice like yourself. I’m hoping by the time we get to that stage I’ll be in a position to completely design up my own custom system 😊 that will be a great build series hopefully 😊 thanks so much for your support pal and I hope your tank goes well. I’m in the middle of building the website for the channel so I’ll keep you updated on that also 👍

    what is consuming 15 ml of magnesium a day in your tank ??? , are you using the reef foundation liquids ?

    • @ukreefer4907
      @ukreefer4907  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dani Wornath I’m using the Red Sea foundation powders pal. I’ve got no idea what is using it up but the 15ml a day along with a 25 litre water change a week keeps it stable at 1350 👍 I’ve even bought a second salifert mg test kit as I also didn’t believe I should be using that much and got the same result 👍

      Dani Wornath hi mate, since our chat and the video I’ve had to slightly adjust the doser. On checking it I’ve actually got it set to dose 15ml every 3 days bud 😂 I remembered setting it to 15ml but forgot if adjusted it to 3 days 👍 just ordered an upgrade pal

    can you tell me the corals you have? because i want to buy my first sea aquarium and im looking for of the 170 sea reefer deluxe or the 250 but that one is much expensive than the little one, so i dont know wich i have to take and what coral can in it for a beginner

    • @ukreefer4907
      @ukreefer4907  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      GoProSession for this 170 I went for a complete mixed reef so I could work out which corals I prefer to take into a future upgrade (which I’m now working on). When I first started i got the tank as stable as I could for 3 months and then bought my first coral which was the hammer colony. That did very well so I bought more LPS and some mushrooms. As my tank has become more stable I have bought sps coral but personally I’d make sure you can keep your tank stable for atleast 6 months before touching sps (even then I’d go for the easier sps like stylophora and hysterix). I now have the following - green goniopora, pink goniopora, purple torch, Duncan’s, candy canes, bubble coral, hammer, gsp, green plating montipora, purple plating montipora, green stylophora, purple stylophora, green hysterix, Red lobo, pink hysterix, green Bali slimer and a few other acros 👍 if you can go for the 250 it will likely be easier to keep stable plus you’ll be able to have a few more fish. If you need any help just give me a shout 👍

      GoProSession really chuffed it helped pal, keeping this reef tank has been a huge learning curve that I can now take into the bigger upgrade. Not sure if you’ve subscribed and seen the other videos but I’m about to start a complete build series of videos on my reefer 425 deluxe 😊👍
