Thank you so much for posting your videos on building the Reefer XL 200! We are just a week in & we're re-watching your videos again tonight. Sending you a HUGE thank you from us in Sacramento!
Great video! I like the tip to use pvc glue on return, however those bard fittings seems scary. Ever hear of one popping off? I would think they would give a clap to keep on barb?
Never had a barb fitting pop or vinyl tubing pop off. I heat the tips of the vinyl tubing to create a good seal once placed on the barb fitting and clamps too
I got plenty of clamps for hosing lines. I will definitely take your advice and apply one to the fitting for more sense of security. Thank you👍🏼👍🏼👍🏻👍🏻👍🏼👍🏼
I can never say never to better and bigger things when it comes to making a person better or become better. This hobby brings me peace ✌🏼... thank you for your comment
One thing I came here to find was how you put the over flow box cover on 😂 I cant get the one piece separated to account for the lights arm. So how did you do that or didn't you not use it?
There is a piece you can remove on the over flow box cover. It’s a snap off. Just push it out. Also we put in the rock first. That way if you have any gobies or anything moving the sand bed. It won’t cause your rock work to collapse on itself or move out of place. So rock work first sand afterwards 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I took out about 2 fist 👊🏼 size live rock out of my sump to seed her sump to her tank. We ended up using the Caribsea tree. Dry rock for her display. It’s been a while so don’t have the actual number to weight. Hope that helps. Thank you 🙏
Only comes with sump , stand and tank. It’s plug and play piping setup which is included. You need to get everything else. Pump , skimmer. Ato pump recommended. Wave makers and all which you want..😉
Besides saltwater a return pump. Good LED lighting, rock dead/dry/alive , sand live/dry and some sort of nitrifying bacteria and a fish to add in the ammonia if not dosing ammonia to get the cycle going. Temperature probe and heating with some type of control. A ato and ro reservoir for topping off from evaporation. Additional flow like power heads. Protein skimmer if decide and in time a UV if need be. Filter socks and maybe some carbon for clarity and to remove impurities like toxins, phosphate control and nitrate in some ways. A refractometer for salinity. Dosing is only , if needed to keep parameters more stable like elements or trace. Chiller if room temperature gets to over 80 degrees and need to chill to a good 77 degrees. Water changes and just a steady mind of patience. Patience!!! I don’t know what else you are referring too. Also don’t use the ato chamber given or the ato lever. Float valve will stick and in time may create a siphon that does not stop your RO water from continuing. Hope this helps…
I used the original barb fittings. Yes it was 5/8. Not 3/4. Sorry I was looking at my RedSea 525. I forgot Arlene has a thinner fitting.. 5/8 is the correct size and yes, use the original fittings
San Francisco Bay Area is not always cold or cool. We do have our hot days and lately more than ever. My place holds the heat inside the home to well. So chillers not only do good on those warmer days. It definitely helps keep the tanks stable. Stability is a must in reefing. That’s why. Also this is Arlene’s place and it helps keep her system stable as well😁😉 Thank you for your comment 😁👍🏻👍🏼👍🏻👍🏼👍🏻

Can I take a quick poop 😂
I had to go 😂
There's a plastic clamp that goes at the top of the barb fit for the return line
I got plenty of clamps for hosing lines. I will definitely take your advice and apply one to the fitting for more sense of security.

Nice you think there is a chance you will go bigger

Also did you put your rock on top of sand or rock directly down on the glass then added sand?

@@TheHerm14 thank you so much!!
Looking great! How much rock did you use? I'm struggling to work out what weight of rock I'd need to purchase!

What does Reefer XL 200 include? Did you additionaly buy skimmer, pumps, pipes, wavemakers?

Where did you get that power bar?
I want to buy the XL 200 deluxe.. what do I need more for running it?

What size of tubing did you use for return pump? Is it 3/4 or 5/8?
@@TheHerm14 did you replace Red Sea 5/8 barb fitting? I’m setting up one now and trying to figured out what to do with metric plumbing

@@TheHerm14 thanks a lot!
What are your lighting plans? Kessil?
She wanted to stick to RedSea. So we are going with the RedSea 160. I will adjust par accordingly to the corals in her tank.
Where did you purchase the tank from?
My LFS. Aquatic Collection.
@@TheHerm14 thank you!
Hi pal, that fresh reservoir will drain down after water pump stops. It's too high.
You are right. I had to adjust things already.
Thank you 👍🏻
why a chiller in san fran?

Nothing can see... Low light
I know. I had to adjust my brightness too.
