Thanks a lot for watching and safe journeys!
Cant say enough good things about thailand. Love it!
Your like the Energiser Bunny, you keep going on and on. Keep up the amazing videos Gabe 🇮🇪🇨🇦
Your intros with the music are awesome
I always thought Laab was Lao/Thai/northern...ish. not surprised it carries on through to Burma and beyond. Many of the key words in the languages also blend through there as well. Great video.
Looks like you're right, but they also make a version in Myanmar:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larb
@@GabrielTravelerVideos wow. I am right for a change. Good you're back in Thailand, i arrived in bkk 2 days ago after 2 months Bali. There is a northern Thai place next to silvios in sathorn. I'll find laab there tomorrow. Cheers.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos
How did you get there. By plane ? Oh a boat ? In video you say boat , thats cool ,watching video,
I had not forgotten about the temple. I'm a huge fan of temples. Especially Thai ones. Also mosques churches synagogues and so on btw
Prawns still in their shell retain their flavour so much better Gabe! Just don't make eye contact 😂
Another Awesome Adventure Gabriel 🇨🇦 🙂👍
When I looked up, Ko Phayam, it showed Ko Chang as the same name, but I knew it was the island you were going to because you showed a map of it. I tried my best to zoom in on the island to see any roads. Interesting! Safe travels!
Shrimp heads equal flavor! Great to cook with and remove while eating.
I am glad you enjoy spending your time there. Thailand needs more tourists to boost its economy.
Crystal-clear waters with more fish than tourists! That's the kind of place I would surely enjoy. What services their bungalow provides?
Looks glorious Gabriel
I don't know how you fight loneliness as much as you travel alone.
Can you provide some tips or tricks?
Start a TH-cam channel and make it your job so you're always researching the next place to visit/ booking hotel rooms and flights etc., read books, try and learn the local language to some extent or possibly ask yourself why even travel if you can't handle being alone.
Very cool...I like that private beach. So relaxing
Got a snack, ready to watch a Gabriel travel video!
Thai food is my favorite and your lunch dish looks great!
What a beautiful place, thank you for sharing!
Thanks for Koh Phayam and Koh Chang series. I'm Thai, who prefers finding inspiration and an interesting perspective through foreigners' travel vlogs. I'm planning to visit these islands next month. It's so generous of you sharing this sorta up to date exp.
Btw, I'd like to share about "Laab" or Larb or Laap, the spicy minced meat (can be pork, chicken, duck, beef, fish, etc.) mixed with herbs. The origin of this menu is from Lao culture, I guess. Laab is a common dish in Laos and Thailand's north and northeast with a slight difference in ingredient and taste. In the North and Northeat, we eat Laab with sticky rice. Laab you ate is Laab Isan (the northeastern recipe) which can be found every corner in my hometown as same as Somtam, Nam-Tok, Sok-Lek, Goy.
I'm blank about Laab + Myanmese tho. 😅
Thanks for the info.
Man I really wanted you to find that mini mart!!👍👍Loving these Thailand videos!
This place is so peaceful
Hello Gabe another amazing video and Yes that was a shrimp in Asia they love the head of the shrimp it is very tasty
That was an enjoyable stroll. It,s so pretty there, but it’s so empty of people. I wonder how that could be.😊❤
Looks awesome!
Beautiful, so peaceful 😍🙏💫
Thanks for this and Koh Phayam. I've been thinking of heading there in about a month and check out the area. After watching these videos I'm almost certain to.
Wow, Ko Chang looks mega chill, and almost empty. Perfect place to unplug from society and take a break from the world.
Woo Gabriel 😊 beautiful sights 😎☀️🌊
That was relaxing day 🙏👍
the black on the beach is oil residue.. i.e it's not as clean a place as you think, not surprised you didn't like the water.
Excellent ....interesting visit ....this is my favorite to.
Glorious very amazing place .
something I would enjoy ...this peaceful inspriring beach and rustic
Natural setting . Your videos are absolutely magic .

Larb/Laab/ลาบ is very much a Lao/Thai (Issan) dish.
Definately yes. From Isaan....north eastern part of Thailand....
Looks like you're right, but they also make a version in Myanmar:

@@GabrielTravelerVideos interesting, I don’t know much about their food
@@GabrielTravelerVideoslooking forward to phangan and Tao, I went there some years ago, it’ll be great to see you doing your thing there 👌

Woot! Commenting for that algorithm!
So funny. As you mentioned there is another elephant island. All roads lead finally to Pattaya.😅
Thanks for the look at Ko Chang West! I have lived in Thailand a few decades, lap is a northeast Thailand dish, no way is it Burmese lol!
Been to Koh Si Chang, nice quiet island very few foreigners
Ko si chang is a small nice island near pattaya, the big well
known😅 ko chang is near cambodia, the small ko chang here is near myanmar
I might be wrong but I always thought laab came from issan area of Thailand and was a Thai dish
All the flavour is in the Prawn head Gabe, you see most locals sucking the juice out of it which sounds weird but it really is the best part 😂
I so agree!
Gabriel have you thought of getting a small bungie cord to wrap your light sandles on the strap of your backpack? It's convenient to carry them in such cases! 😃
@@adataylor6793 Carabineer clips work good.
Gabriel, Now that you know , can you ask for your shrimp to be cleaned , as in deveined , head and shell off ?
I noticed the doors of your bungalow were open . Can you clise them to keep creepy crawley things out ?
Have fun .Stay safe !
Love the Thailand and India series. Are you gonna meet up with a famous TH-camr in Thailand??
Hello friend happy New Year ❤️❤️
I purchased several water shoes in the past, most recent one back in 2012. I didn’t like any of them. They felt weird and were uncomfortable. But I have seen some nice looking water shoes now that had decent tread on them and you can go from walking the streets, to the sand, and into the water with them. I’m gonna buy a pair before my next trip and report back. Body Glove makes the one I saw. When you get out of the ocean the water escapes out of the shoes through holes
Safe journey in Thailand
Your day looks a little better than mine. Had to sit through 6 Teams meetings for work, bored as hell.. I suppose life is full of choices. 😅
6 meetings, damn, that sounds rough. Good luck, hang in there. ✌️👊
HAHA it's just a full prawn (shrimp) I am surprised with all of your travels this your first "prawns with head on" experience! Enjoy :)
Great vlogs, so relaxing to watch while I sip my coffee.
What is the name of your bungalows? What is the nearest airport? Safe travels Gabe.
It was Sunset Bungalows. The nearest airport is in Ranong but I think there are limited flights from there, otherwise you have to get there by bus from Bangkok or Phuket.
You're rambling a bit today, Gabriel. You haven't been on the old Bob Marley, have you?
Hahaha, it’s a shrimp with its head. I remember introducing octopus and shrimp with its head, to friend from Iowa. She was keen on giving it a try! Not sure she’ll have grilled octopus again or shrimp with its head attached but she’ll continue to keep having shrimps that are headless, battered, and fried! 😂
Hi Gabriel what camera setup do you use on your travels?
ya its head was still on
Yup it's a shrimp!! As a chef I call it a head-on shrimp. All the actual shrimp flavour is in the shell and head so many people especially Asians love to suck the juices out of the head! It's weird for North Americans but it is so tasty!! In French cooking we use crab, lobster or shrimp shells to make a soup called Bisque that is primarily flavoured with the shells. Happy Travels
Cool, thanks for the info.
Laab is from Lao or isaan area of thailand i thought . but is looked very good . Great vlogs
Shrimp are tiny, Prawns 🍤 are larger. But I guess in US everyone calls them shrimp
👍👍👍

Congrats. I think you are the first person in history who had to decide between a temple and a mini-mart LOL 😂
their used to be a bar in tree ,if i remember correct
A black panther at the 3:15 mark!
I think it was a piece of driftwood. 😛
So are waters on Thai islands usually murky ? I’ve heard it was different before.
It depends on lots of factors, especially the location and the weather. I went swimming at one place on Ko Tao yesterday when it was sunny, the water was calm and clear. Went to the exact same spot today and the water was rougher and murkier.
How much alcohol do you consume in a day
Yay....top 20
Hi Gabriel. Do you think I can bring my own scooter on the island? Thanks
I didn't see any scooters on the boats, so I'm not sure how it works. Maybe you can bring them on the larger, slower ferries, which go less frequently, twice a day I think.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos many thanks Gabriel. Enjoy!
How far apart are the mini markets there in average ?
6:13 those are the waters 🙌🏻
15:10 yep a prawn 🦐
Larb is an issan dish, not Myanmar.
Looks like you're right, but they also make a version in Myanmar:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larb
Could that be a langoustine?
one shrimp has his head on, one didnt, come on gabey me boy!
yes, its a shrimp. Cook them myselves. When i was in mallorca my sister in law a mallorqui, took them and sucked out the heads. She told me, that they tase very good. Well, i paßed it, and till today never tryed it out. Although i always have been , since my childhood, the one who tries everything out. You know, the eyes of these heads, bŕrrrrr, sorry, thats toooo much for me, lol, such e weak person am i, just me, lol

Does Thailand ever have cool weather?
Yes, in the mountains in the north in winter.

Wise choice to avoid Myanmar at this time. I would probably less worried about the politics and more worried about human trafficking. Its a good place to find yourself becoming a call center captive and forced to scam your way to freedom.

"Definitely not a good government." Gabriel's "understanding" of world politics is governed by Langley, Virginia. Not the brightest.
Really, you disagree with the statement that the current government of Myanmar isn't good for the country? Are you an expert in Myanmar politics? What do you like about the military leadership that took over in a coup in 2021?
