Some would complained that we have another Kanto remake, but the game itself is so different, chock full of new cutscenes, interactions, an mechanics that it is a great addition to the franchise itself. Bringing over Pokemon from Pokemon Go and bringing the whole Pokemon world to life brought so many people to this game. New fans, old fans, fans with kids, fans that just want to play the old ones in a casual way. And it's a Pokemon game for the Nintendo Switch! From styling hair to not running into a thousand zubats in a cave, it's time to play some Pokemon!

Definitely the 1st 2... not sure about the other ones, didn't play Gates of Infinity but didn't seem that good, and wasn't impressed when I played Super Mystery Dungeon.

Well, this got awkward...
I actually really enjoy the game for giving me a little adventure that lets me relax after all the stressful work at university. Might be because I am as casual as a gamer could get and more into the lore and characters of games but especially because of this, Let's Go is perfect for me. I love how they explained little things in small additional cutscenes that felt before like "Oh, the roadblock suddenly poofed away." I love how they fleshed out Team Rocket with some more unique members and made Giovanni show more personality. And I especially love how your Pokémon truly feel like companions with the interactions between you and your starter and the other Pokémon you can take out to follow you, it's so cute. I don't really care if it's basically just a watered down tech demo for the upcoming gen, to me it's perfect for killing time until the next true main game arrives.
I get that. I don't like the game myself, as I find it so boring, because I play games so they can get my interest. I don't normally play games to wind down because I don't have much going on.
Guess what? The main event is coming out in November 15!

This video has reinforced my belief that it is totally okay and actually normal to jam pokemon games in my 30's. You kick ass and I look forward to more pokemon content
I'm 40 and eagerly anticipate Pokémon Week so hey.
I'll never forget the first time I EVER heard of Pokemon back in my middle school days. My library got a new Nintendo Power Magazine with a Pokemon Preview Guide and Comic... i ripped it out of the magazine carefully. And this was a time before the internet made it super easy to know what games were coming. So i was the first in my grade if not the city to find out what pokemon was aide form the other nintendo power subscription kids in my town. I read that Preview Comic and guide cover to cover for a month getting more excited for the launch of Pokemon in the US. The Christmas happened and I got a Gameboy and Pokemon Red for my Xmas Present. Pokemon was such a cool phenomenon to play as a teen, i made new friends, traded pokemon and enjoyed the anime with friends. It actually helped me to be social with others. So to see a Successor to Red and Blue as Lets go Eevee and Pikachu warms my heart and makes me wish I had a Switch T_T
I also used to read those pokemon preview inserts and would obsess over the walkthroughs even though I didn't even have the game.
I remember hearing / watching other kids play in school (and this was when animation just started) and saving up all summer to buy the red version… the walk home with the game in hand was probably one of the happiest memory I have

the rival thing is super lame, they have been doing this in most of the new pokemon games each time your rival becomes less of a rival and more of a friend. It really gives you no reason to fight them but hey you have to because they are .... Nice?

So, counterpoint, rival does not mean enemy. A rival is a competitive peer. If they were just dickish trainers, then they'd just be team X badguys.
I would love for another rival character like Blue to eventually become the champion and constantly egg you on throughout your journey, setting a benchmark for you to keep up with and giving that sense of satisfaction from knocking him off his high horse.
Brandon Morris rivalries can be quite intense. People want to feel motivated to surpass and beat their rival so having a jerk usually helps.

I completed the game, I didn't really even need a lot, only excluded Pokemon like Bellsprout and a few others like Meltan, all in all, a pretty fun experience.

They should have made the Dratini master trainer a hiker because it most resembles you (because of the beard and all)
The Dratini trainer was given Jirard's name in localization, he wasn't specifically made to be Jirard originally.

But being someone that put many hours in on the original red way back in the day, I would love for the even the smallest chance to get that feeling again. If they want to do sinnoh remakes they'll most likely do it after the gen 8 games come out. Then you'll have a sinnoh that has way more pokemon in it than the original games did. Because why would you want to waste the sinnoh remakes on pokemon go spinoffs.

You give justice to this great Pòkemon game. Great work.
This was the first Pokemon game I played since Soul Silver (which I never finished). I always got so fed up with how linear Pokemon games were (and how tedious they were ex: wild pokemon battles and having to grind to level up your pokemon), but when Pokemon Go came along, I found myself actually enjoying a Pokemon game again. Then when I played Let's Go Eevee, I knew I found the perfect medium. That replacing the wild battles with just throwing a pokeball and being able to see wild pokemon fixed 90% of my problems with these games. LGE will be the only Pokemon game I own, but it's the only one I like so it works out.
As a lifetime fan, I get why people didn't like this game. (The game corner was my biggest gripe)
But after putting it off for months and giving it a shot. It was pretty fun and hella cozy.

Same! I got it a while ago and played it for a bit on the same day, then left it until a couple of days ago. It was actually pretty fun when I picked it up again, and I'm so glad I did.
I never cared about the catching mechanic. I knew we were just waiting for a Gen 8 announcement so my brain immediately went with: "Hey, look! A game to help my child start her own Pokemon memories!"

as a 29 year old, i grew up on Pokemon red, blue and yellow. be able to revisit these games in a HD setting was absolutely incredible. I loved this game. more so then sword and shield.

Thank you, Jirard. I was contemplating getting this game along with a Switch. Your video helped me make the decision to sit this one out. I've been around since gen 1, been to Kanto more than enough times. I mean heck, Kanto was in 4 gens in a row! Yes, I'm counting the gen 2 and 4 part too. Rivals have been getting softer. I loved Gary/Blue(or Green as he's really called) because his attitude was my drive. I wanted to be better than him and in the end I was! But now? I mean, with how all gens said the player won because of their love and compassion, and Let's Go bashing the rival for it, I get the feeling this gen's "perfect trainer" is a mute with a face painted on that only gives their first pokemon some clothes and treats the rest as pretty much fodder to be replaced. You don't EARN a pokemon via battle most of the time, just chuck balls and hope for the best.

The problem is, none of what I enjoy about pokemon is here. I enjoy all the different pokemon options, the RPG elements of fighting wild Pokemon, and the abilities
That is exactly my problem too. I want to feel the need to get this but it just seems to be a glorified version of Pokémon go for $60. Which I am ok with as a concept but I’ve never been a collector of Pokémon, and with good reason. I played alot of Pokémon gen 1&2 back in my kid years, and never had anyone to trade with. Which was extremely frustrating for my Pokémon yellow years as I couldn’t get my still favorite Pokémon Raichu. I could come soo close to completing the Pokédex but be missing a fee because no one played them anymore or didn’t have the link cable. Turns out that I had missed out on the fact there were more Pokémon games I hadn’t even heard of until I saw someone playing heart gold or soul siver on a system I never heard of at the time. By the time I got my legend of zelda ds light Pokémon black was well out by this time and the internet service was closing. So this time I was stuck with some Pokémon I didn’t care for, no Raichu, and no way to get new Pokémon. Fast forward to my 3ds years I can finally trade Pokémon online on Pokémon Y. By this time I found it a pain and not all that much fun, especially since even to this day in ultra moon wonder tradings is filled magicarps. So my opinion is abit skewed but I just can’t get into the whole gotta catch them all. I’d rather battle them all and catch a few. Namely legendaries
It's has nothing to do with the main series. It's like Stadium, Colleseum, Dash, Puzzle, TCG, Mystery Dungeon, and Ranger.

I only wish that the Switch touch screen was able to support stylus touches. That's what made it easier to play with and pet your Pokemon in the 3DS games.

It's a lot more common since the world trading element came into play. Basically half of my gen 4-6 pokemon have it. It spreads to other pokemon by having a pokemon with pokerus in your party and winning a battle.

I (20) played Pokémon all through my life. I played the original yellow at an age where I probably didn’t understand it, and the games grew with me until I was frustrated with the 3DS games being, well, too easy, and I never really had the patience for competitive. I really did not like Pokémon go when it came out, mainly due to the fact that the gameplay was ... no gameplay, and both my hardware and the place where I live didn’t want to cooperate. And it kinda felt like a cash grab... but it was just not my game at all. I’ve tried to give it another chance when Let’s Go came out, but it still has like nothing that would motivate me to play.
And now for this game. Oh jeeee. I was exited for it to come out, and it and a switch were top contenders for my Christmas present to myself... I said were. Because I am super disappointed. It looks nice. For sure. It’s has cool features. Definitely. But it’s just, and I am speaking for myself, everything I didn’t want it to be, and nothing what I wanted it to be. I know it’s to introduce younger people and make it easy, but... you start with a perfect Pokémon. The gym restrictions are... an interesting choice, and the additional features to yello.....oh wait! What are they? Compelling online things? Nah. Something that is really original or interesting? Nah.
Okay, I am complaining. I know, it looks good and is probably fun to play. But to summarize, and again. My opinion. If you think this is the best Game ever, I do t mind, I am happy for you! But, it looks like what i wished for on the beautiful beautiful outside, but the inside is too much Pokémon go and not enough fighting and grinding to finally find that Pokémon you are searching for. It successfully made me feel that sweet sweet nostalgia, but in a way that my inner grandma yells “Back then everything was better” and makes me grab my DS life and fire red cartridge. (sadly yellow didn’t want to boot up).
I think I will be back for the original game for the switch, and hope I can actually battle normal wild Pokémon and maybe have some more variety?
Plus the soundtrack doesn't help things. RBY and even FRLG had a real kick to their soundtracks, so when you're in Viridian Forest it sounded like you could be lost there, because the music was a bit intimidating.
There's very little incentive in this game outside of Meltan and it's evolution. I also find the rematches boring, because Gen 1 means most GLs are going to use the most predictable Pokémon possible. The only trainers with possible variety are Misty and Koga, because there's so many Water and Poison Types.
In HGSS and B2W2 on the other hand, I loved to re-battle the GLs, because you didn't know which Pokémon they may pick, as they could have any Pokémon up to Gen 4/5. I love seeing their teams progress from the usual "Brock = Onix, Golem and fossils", which is something similar we've already seen in Pokémon Stadium.
Yeah I know Alolan Forms exist, but not many GLs get them, because there's only a few to pick from.
I know that limits can be a good thing, as it forces you to be more creative, but this is just such a lazily developed game, with hardly any thought behind it other than "Post-game = grind". It honestly feels like they were going to add a post-game story in at some point, but dropped it and just left the grinding.
Ultra sun and ultra moon are kinda difficult. Would reccomend those.

It’s so nice to hear someone else enjoy this game like I did/do! I’m a diehard Pokémon fan and it breaks my heart a little that everyone dislikes this game so much. Eevee is one of my favorite Pokémon, which helps, but I just found it to be a fun little neat experience, and a great casual time. It’s not meant to be a main series game. It’s almost a spinoff of sorts. But people are so frustrated by the lack of difficulty and the simplicity. And to that, I just have to say... is the difficulty really what makes playing Pokémon games fun?
For me, it’s building a team and traversing a region, growing together in strength and experience, and completing the Pokédex. This was also the very first game where shiny hunting was actually feasible for me, too! I’ve got 9 and counting, which is easily my favorite part of this game.
I missed Kanto and giving it my love one more time will never feel like a waste to me. Yes, the game could be more challenging and have more features/post game, but I still love it for what it is, and find myself going back to it for some relaxing, mindless fun.
I’m very excited for Sword and Shield (Sobble Squad!), but I imagine I’ll still pick this game up from time to time. If for nothing else to give some love to my Eevee partner, Teddy ☺️

crcoghill it was probably just a localization team thing. They probably weren’t allowed to or don’t have the skills to change models.
@Weston Thomas As he mentioned in the video, this is on the localisation team, not the development team. The localisation team probably DO know about him, and so it probably IS meant to be him. It's not that far out there.
Man, I never stopped playing Pokemon. I play through the 3rd and 4th Generation on a yearly basis just for the nostalgia alone. But I still remember how I caught a Shiny Pokemon when I was 10 years old. Literally never saw a Shiny since then again…😅
jirard well done on getting into this game, it is a big accomplishment. well not as big as doing every single one of your videos but still very big.

Honestly I think "okay" is the one word that discribes Let's Go best for me personally. I agree, it is very lovely in presentation, the fact that HMs aren't a thing anymore is neat and they did a great job in somehow make me care a lot about my evee but that's kind of it. I played through it, caught mewtwo and left it there. I suppose it is because I am not a huge fan of Pokemon Go in the First place and because of that I hate the way you "train" your Pokemon through just catching wild ones over and over again. I hate the catching mechanics and Pokemon Abilities are gone for some reason. Pokemon was never hard to begin with but they still managed to make it seem even more easy. They made me almost feel insulted by how easy and on the nose they made it. Everywhere I had to go, everything I had to do, they always felt the need to have an NPC, usually the super lame rival, to point me exactly where I had to go. So yeah, in the end, it felt kind of like playing Pokemon yellow in a fancy dress. It looked nice, the whole Pokemon following you around thing was nice and the music was.. fine, I guess but in the end I never really felt fun. It didn't feel like a great journey and I never had the feeling that my Pokemon where this special to me, since I caught so many of the same species. Also, and this is probably the most personal problem of mine, I am so done with Kanto. like, since X and Y came out they focus on nostalgia through kanto Pokemon so much that i got annoying.
I beat all the gyms and lost all motivation to play :/ still very enjoyable experience tho
baliyesterday Your X and Y stuff at the end is exactly why I’m refusing to pick this game up. As a Pokémon fan it hurts me to miss out on a release, but as a Pokémon fan I know I have to not buy a game to tell them how I feel.

Sat down to watch this before heading to work, knowing I wouldn't fully finish the whole video. Well I stopped even sooner into than thought, because I went to the store and bought a copy of Let's Go Pikachu. I was already interested in the game, but barely saw footage/looked into it, so this was my first real look at what the game was. Loving the game currently! Been years since I played a new Pokemon game. Last one was Emerald on the GBA.
Jirard, sometimes I feel that you hold yourself back when criticizing a game....
Not that there’s anything wrong with being in Nintendos good graces, but I would like to hear more complaints of the game, too.
SSJ Muffin that’s actually really hard to do unless you might be able to gain revenue in other places. Also Nintendo used to have a really tight grip on reviews before. It used to be you couldn’t even see much really time Nintendo stuff due to copyright issues.
He just had his name immortalized in a video game. I doubt he cares about fans demands at this point. he is living the life.
SSJ Muffin I believe he said in the Star Fox adventure video he tries to find redeeming qualities in any game.
He will only complain about something, if it is worth complaining, i don't know what do you think is bad in Let's Go that he absolutaly needs to talk about, but every bad thing about the game was said in the video, he just had more good things to say about the games and i totally agree with him
Things he "didn't like" too much about the game that I gathered based on watching the video: 1) leveling up the pokemon to beat every master trainer was too tedius 2) the motion controls are okay but not amazing 3) playing with a 2nd player was too easy 4) the rival was really bland character-wise 5) suggestion that the pokemon could have had the voices from the anime 6) difficulty with the pokemon leveling grind when you run out of money/pokeballs.
I think he did an excellent job of voicing these criticisms without being a jerk about it, it makes it easier to watch. I'm wondering if you wanted him to be more stern, or perhaps he just didn't dislike the games in the way that you may have disliked them?
The fact Pikachu was casually strolling behind Jirard as he was introducing the episode's theme was the cutest.

This is what I was hoping for this game. It looks like it did a good job of bridging the gap between Go and Pokemon Classic fairly well. There's some nice solid stuff we, the core/classic players would love to see, and some we would rather not.

I know it's waaaay late for Jirard, but for anyone wanting to complete these games to the same degree, keep searching for hidden items in the underground tunnels. The items respawn after a certain amount of time, I believe, so you can always have something to sell for money for pokeballs
I love the whole pokémon in the overworld thing, I recently played hgss again and through the whole game i probably bought over 200 repels, but in let's go i didn't have to buy a single repel, this change is actually life saving
