Then you have perfect taste as far as I am concerned. The melodic love theme is extremely pretty and sweet. I was 16 when I watched the movie, developed a massive crush on the character Madison and spent years trying to find the song Love Came for Me sung by Rita Coolidge that believe it or not officially has never still been released as this cd and another are promotional recordings. You could buy the lp record but it didn't have that song on it. However, you would be aware the other promo which is on TH-cam has four or five instrumental versions of the song - all of them beautiful. I was recently chatting via email to Lee Holdridge the composer who told me he wrote an epic musical ending for the film, but that Disney wanted an actual sung song. All the best to you. It certainly is a soundtrack for the true romantic as opposed to the gushy romance novel troupe. I love it and think Mr. Holdridge a genius.
I am so incredibly grateful that you have posted this ❤️ thankyou so much. Splash is my absolute favourite movie of all time. Can say every word of the movie!!! 🤣 This is phenomenal to be able to listen to. I re-watched the movie recently and it had brought me days of joy in my heart 💖

I had forgotten how good the music in SPLASH was. For anybody who likes Lee Holdridge's great score for SPLASH (especially the track "First Meeting") then you might also like these two other famous movie composers: (probably) Michael Convertino -- th-cam.com/video/bpaAM6s1zl4/w-d-xo.html (maybe) Eric Serra -- th-cam.com/video/SURVFysCQus/w-d-xo.html :-)
I learned how to play this song when I was younger. I like strings on certain parts of these songs. If this was released I would buy the sheetmusic. Great upload
Arpeggios on the piano are commonly used to evoke the feeling of water, so I can understand why the beginning of “Underwater” at 1:37 reminds you of the music played during the title sequence of “Little Mermaid”. Look at Camille Saint-Saëns’ piece “Aquarium” from his suite “Carnival of the Animals”: th-cam.com/video/-OAQ6rAs9DA/w-d-xo.html (Ironically, Alan Menken DID rip off the “Aquarium” piece by Saint-Saëns when writing the score for the prologue of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast”; in fact, Menken had wanted to use the actual theme before the directors asked for a more original piece)
The CD I have was originally a limited edition, so you probably couldn't get one at a reasonable price. However, it looks like the same tracks are available as mp3 downloads on Amazon.
ROn Howard took a difficult story line to convey a love story and made it believable. Love the movie and soundtrack. Check out the special edition dvd!
Thank you for the information. I would like to find that too, but I think they just recorded live audio on the street, so probably it doesn't exist another than what's heard on the movie.
I really - really - miss the "Madison at Bloomingdale's" style of movie music! Something in that style captured the bustle of an America that was beginning to feel itself again. (The Reagan years perhaps?) Probably why I associate it with those classic shots of Manhattan skyscrapers from the movies back then: looking up at them from the street or tracking them from a helicopter. A real tragedy that this style didn't become popular on its own! Or, if someone knows musicians who released that kind of music in the 80s or very early 90s - would have been instrumental albums - I'd love to know. I know most of the film musicians of course, but were there others? Thank you.
@OnKneesforJesus2, I'm not sure where you can buy it now. I got my copy a long time ago (maybe 10 years). On a film soundtrack newsgroup someone was advertising the fact that they were producing a limited edition of the soundtrack and was giving people the opportunity to order their copies then. If you want to look for it it has the ID number of "LH CD-02" and was manufactured by Super Tracks Music Group.
Hi. The soundtrack included all of the music written for the movie. Unfortunately I don't believe they included the street-musicians performance on the soundtrack. (I'm guessing that while that was an arrangement written especially for the movie, it was probably an already well-known classic piece of music.)
Romance (Larghetto) Concerto No. 1 in E minor, Op. 11, B 53 -Part 1- Chopin It don't last long though. For the life of me too, I can't find a string version of that part of the music piece. It's a bit annoying, the nice bit of music we heard from the street player is nothing more than a little bit of an otherwise boring composition. Would be great to get a full version from the film.
Every time I watch this movie or listen to the soundtrack I feel 10 again.. Such a wonderful film with a beautiful score.
It really should have been Oscar nominated for the score. They don’t compose music for films like this anymore.
Correct
Own... the most precious soundtrack of my life... It's so pretty!!!

One of my all time favorite films. This soundtrack is just perfectly beautifully composed! :)
Love this movie! Love this soundtrack! So beautiful!!!
Rainy night is so beautiful.... And the scene with the twin towers in the background gets me every time. RIP angels.
Thank you so much, this is so beautiful! Splash is one of my favorites, ever since I was a little girl

underwater sounds like last unicorn and little mermaid combined. Lovely :)

Thanks! Great music, great score. People don't really know what's great when it's right in front of them
De merveilleux souvenirs...
The beginning of "underwater" reminds me so much of the little mermaid main title! :)

Seriously wish Rainy Night was put as a singular piece. It really needs to be easier to find

You're right. It's from Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor, Op. 11 -- about halfway through -- the second movement, Romance.
Damn I was looking for the violin song too. :(
Thank you for the information. I would like to find that too, but I think they just recorded live audio on the street, so probably it doesn't exist another than what's heard on the movie.

What about the scene at the skating rink? does anyone know the name of that short piece?
Les patineurs by Emile Waldteufel!

I think it was the sound of the time. Mister Mom reminds me of that score.

They didn't include the violin piece from the dancing figures scene and the park musicians? Do you know what song is it?
Thank you for uploading!
