  • Apartments in Chiang Mai are vast in number but if you're travelling to Chiang Mai and looking for an apartment that is central to everything, within walking distance to the old city and the digital nomad hotspots in Nimman.
You absolutely should check this place out.
In this video, we took a look at a studio, 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom apartment with prices ranging from 4,300 baht up to 12,000.
You'll find directions to Huay Kaew Place here: goo.gl/maps/wr...
And, although I couldn't find any way for you to book online in advance. I did find a couple of condos that are being privately rented out through Airbnb.
Book an apartment through my link and save over 1,000 Baht

I wonder what time the rooftop garden opens in the morning.
It would be perfect to do morning yoga in the sun.

I took my mother last January to Chiang Mai for holiday. We booked a 2 bedroom on the 8th floor through AirBnB for around $30 USD a night. The only issue was the bathroom. We had to keep the door shut. It had a light smell that seemed to come from the sewer pipes. That would be the only thing I would recommend being careful about. Besides that the place was clean, staff was great and the location was perfect. Definitely check out the Japanese restaurant on the ground floor.

Brett, thanks for another good video. I have been following your blog for more than a year and have learned a lot about your common sense presentations. I had my first exploratory visit to Chiang Mai in July of 2017. I'm returning late July for another three weeks to finalize my decision on retirement locations. I'm taking a couple of side trips to Saigon and Bangkok too. Hope to cross paths.

I slept in this building 10 days ago. The problem of this kind of building is that walls are not really walls... You just hear all your neighbour's conversations... so I guess they heard me the same way. Depends on your privacy level requirement.. It's up to you. And FYI, I rented it through Airbnb... but it was not the same price since it was a short stay (5 days)

Some condos are like that. I've also stayed in well built ones. Always a good idea to ask a neighbour who already lives there if you can.

if you are not allergic to white noise, then you can solve it by buying a fan, put it facing the wall and cover it with clothes (would create the loud white noise). you can buy a fan at central dept store at kad suan kaew shopping center (5 min walk from huay kaew place) at about 620-720 bht. I am currently staying at siriruk apt (1 month = thb 3500). Bigger room, but room much older, but I just need a place to sleep, so each to his/her own.

Brett no one has ever made a video on Chiang Mai regarding having a large budget say $5000+ USD a month.. They all seem to be budget videos! Can you make a video for a family of 4, housing, driver/car, schools etc etc. I live in HCMC Vietnam and considering moving to CM as already have some business there now. I think a non budget video may be something totally different :) Thanks Justin

Hey I had some questions. I am looking to move to Chiang Mai next week. I will be on a 30 day visa. I am looking into changing to a teaching work visa, or a student visa, and teaching online. Do you know the best place to go first. Somewhere affordable with decent internet. As, the best starting place. I plan on staying somewhere for the 30 days while I look at the different schools to teach, and also into the student visa. Do you have a list of the schools, or any decent resources. So, I can start researching before I go? Any help would be awesome mate. Also awesome video's. Cheers

Does this building have an elevator? There are many apartments available in this price range, and possibly even cheaper. But it all depends what you're looking for. If food shopping is far, the value is less. I don't mean eating out, that's everywhere, but supermarkets and food markets may be a long walk away. Public transport is really bad in Chiang Mai, that's the worst part of Chiang Mai experience, besides air pollution. I'd rather live in the night bazaar area which has better food shopping, more food markets. But if one has no problem eating out all the time, then living in Nimman area is ok I guess.

no idea about language class as iId look for one of the language meetups for that but £37k could last you 5 years if you're frugal.

Brett (or anyone who lives in Chiang Mai), what part of town should I focus on finding a place IF I refuse to rent a motorbike and want to 100% rely on the local transportation to get around? Pattaya has an excellent setup for local transportation and many options. I hope that there's an area in Chiang Mai that's not expensive that has easy transportation options close by.

    • @darsun19
      @darsun19 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

the best places which are good for public transport and are close to great shopping malls that I have lived in: Huay Kaew, Nimman, and across Central Airport Plaza (close to airport). The thing about chiang mai is that when you stop a red bus (song thaew), you need to tell him where you are going (he may or may not take you, depending on where where you are going). And price might vary. Eg I used to take songthaew from Central Airport Plaza to Huay Kaew for thb20, but price might be higher in early morning due to less competition :) Quite different from Pattaya.
