Me too! I had my opinions about Russell yrs ago, but recently I've watched his new stuff and pushing making up your own mind about the political/media shit the world is going thru, to actually being impressed with his articulated smart and charming ways. But now with this new shit coming down on him I wanted to make a smart and educated opinion, well just at least know what I was talking about if his name came up in conversation with someone in the near future! Yeah he probably did do what he is being accused of, which is too bad, cuz he is a good entertainer and I do respect his opinions on how things are in America today. So I feel sorry for him. BUT, he's done some pretty messed things in the past and needs to take accountability for those mistakes then move on learning from those mistakes! He would get much more respect from those he has wronged in the past! Cone on Russel, admit you did some shitty things, got caught, realized got help, living a better life since then clean and sober! Don't be a cunt, own what you did, apologize then move on! Do the decent thing, peoples memories suck you'll be back in the saddle again in no time! Just my opinion, that's all!

NOT a great idea.... Crossing swords with a professional comedian in front of a live audience AND on TV.. Especially someone with a razor sharp wit like Russell Brand, geldorf asked for that. Gandolf asked for that lol. I remember Bob Geldorf Aid in 84. The money raised and publicity really helped out a badly needed mediocre Rock singer. I used to know someone who knew someone in London who , in turn knew someone who told him Geldorf use to pay something like three times as much for his coke cos he didn't want it getting out to the public hehe.

I think Russel, from what I've seen, is pretentious but his heart is in the right place. He's also willing to talk to people who hold wildly different views to his own. Brand actually said he has a lot of respect for Bobby Geldof in his "Shame" DVD, but now that I actually see it for myself...I mean, I can just smell the pretentiousness coming off of Geldof with his "oh, I'm a badass old musician, and I'm cool and hip because I swear on TV and don't have a sense of humor" scowl. Russell Brand is authentically awesome. He doesn't try to be cool, he's just himself.

I know, you can see how hurt Russ is at 0:51 :( He seems such a lovely warm-hearted guy, what made Geldof say something so nasty? Fair enough if he finds Russ a bit annoying and hyper, after all his humour may not appeal to everyone, but insulting him like that is going way too far.

I have to wonder if it was just a joke. Bob has a very dry, offensive sense of humor and is quick to curse at anybody or anything. It showed poor judgement, that's for sure. And I kind of doubt Russel was "a massive fan" of him considering the fact that he couldn't get his name even remotely correct. And obviously he could have done a lot better, like the comments have said, by not charging fees/turning a profit, but honestly he's done more for humanity than most of the people watching even so.
