      for sure, Moe was way ahead of his time and still ahead of the times here in 2021....there's a few who have learned to swing like Moe these days, far too few imho! Especially after seeing a clip earlier in the week I'd never seen of Moe, it's not the best quality video, but Moe was 72 talking about how he'd just came across Manuel de la Torre, and how he'd studied under Ernest Jones and how he'd finally learned the real secret at 72, via Manuel de la Torre & Ernest Jones, who was the real pioneer.....checkout our comment we just posted here on this video... we all can be better strikers as soon as we know the real 'task' we're seeking to accomplish, then allow our bodies to do so!

I think there was a period in the mid-nineties where he was the leading money winner in history to that point. I seem to recall I saw that Stat in a 1994 Annual Golf Digest...he was a money making machine.

    And Moe Norman used heavy golf clubs with very very stiff shafts. To see the obvious load on the shaft in the downswing and acceleration through and past the ball. Amazing hand and wrist strength. Moe and Hogan - greatest ever.

  • @SurprizedDaily
    @SurprizedDaily 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ben Hogan almost had the same single plane swing as the legendary Murray "Moe" Norman...looking through the many comments on Moe, I didn't see anyone else pick that similarity up? There's footage on here of Moe at 72 doing a clinic calling out shots of 300+ yards talking about how he'd just found and read Manuel de la Torre's book that he put together after studying under the great Ernest Jones, and they all had similarities and there's a HUGE secret that's been kept from 99% of all golfers ever since post WWI, if not longer .....checkout what Ernest Jones is said to have told Horton Smith, (winner of 1st & 3rd Masters) .....
    Ernest Jones was a very successful teacher back after WWI when he lost his right leg from the knee down, yet was still able to shoot great scores (83 on 1 leg, his first round playing after losing part of his right leg! then a 72 after on a long tough course) Checkout the wiki link below! Our bodies know the "hows" as soon as our minds give it a 'task' and as so many say, "paint the picture of what we want in our mind", then it's as simple as allowing the body to produce the right motions to get the 'task' at hand(s) done! Ernest Jones taught many of the greats back in his day, most notable being Glenna Collett-Vare who some of the best say was even better than Babe Zaharias, he also taught the likes of Betty Hicks, Horton Smith, Lawson Little and others. The mental pictures we paint in the minds eye, imho is the biggest key to the golf swings puzzle! Not one human on earth has to think about which muscles do what in hammering a nail, walking, talking, swinging any other object, yet golf, far too many seem to want to over complicate everything, by 'thinking' about all that babbling being said by so many teachers out there! Ernest Jones was saying the following back in the early 1900s - -
    The drastic simplicity of his approach to golf instruction met with rancor and objection when he was invited by the PGA (Professional Golfers' Association of America) to present his work. Horton Smith, then the incoming president of the association, told Jones his system was "..too simple. We wouldn't sell enough lessons." Jones responded, "That's the trouble, you want your students to keep on suffering. Once you get your people to swing the clubhead they will improve." Perhaps much to the PGA's chagrin, whereas an average pro would have given about 600 lessons a year, Jones would give many times that number.[3] One of Jones' devotees was Angel de la Torre who in turn taught this approach to his son Manuel de la Torre. These two professionals alone would add thousands to the list golfers who benefited from a "club-focused" approach to golf. Jones often said, "The trouble with the teaching of golf, is that one is taught what a swing produces [body movement], instead of how to produce a swing [club movement]." Manuel de la Torre was the preeminent authority on the Ernest Jones approach and further developed it in his teaching. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernest_Jones_(golfer)
    Moe Norman said at 72, he finally figured out the secret, "keep hands out of the swing" after reading Manuel de la Torres' book....too bad Moe didn't know Ernest Jones had written several himself....
    they're listed at the bottom of the wiki link!
    This crucial information NEEDS to be shared far & wide imho! Will you do your part after reading what was said between Ernest Jones & Horton Smith? I know we will be......thanks for uploading this! I had never seen that Moe footage, appeared to be Todd Graves there in the first clips....Graves Golf Academy & Todd Graves channel have likely the most Moe Norman footage on youtube that I know of...wonder if Todds ever seen that clip of him there at the beginning of his journey to becoming what Moe even said himself, "Todd's the only one he ever seen swing like me", when asked if there was anyone who could teach his swing! Moe's swing has been biomechanically proven to be the most efficient, consistent and easily reproduced swing according to the physics of the body and all the new biomechanical computer tech available these days! When I saw that and then was led to find that Ernest Jones stuff via an old newspaper press photo I saw of Ernest Jones, kicking myself I didn't snatch it up....says on wiki he shot a 72 after a few rounds on a long tough course, on 1 leg! Picture on the wiki link of him out playing on 1 leg too....

    • @SearchBucket2
      @SearchBucket2 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      How do you know he's "flushing everything"; they might be slices or hooks? Most of the strikes you don't see his head follow the ball to its conclusion.
      If you've ever teed off from a tree-lined tee box you will know the strike always sounds mighty impressive. People put their own spin on these video's ... unless you were there no one really knows how "pure" those shots were.

      MrDrew MC
      Baloney!
      On the world stage this man was "nothing" before an "Academy Live" special on the Golf Channel, followed by building interest on the internet. I was an avid golfer who played and followed the sport extensively from the late sixtees. I never, ever heard of Moe Norman before the above.
      He was an oddity who spent most of his time hitting, obsessively counting balls in exhibitions on the range in the later years. There are many mighty impressive range exhibitionists around today who would be his equal, but not necessarily great golfers.
      Tiger Woods said "he owned his own swing" which is a nothing comment really. He wouldn't have dared to be outspoken like me as it would seem impolite and jealous. He's just going with the flow.
      That's where my problem is ...
      Moe Norman, however talented a ball striker, was not what he is being made out to be by some foolishness on the internet. Many golfers were around in his day performing better on harder tours. Stats mean nothing without context.
      There is so much foolishness on the internet its' becoming a land of ever-more exaggerated fairy-tales, spread by those who just love the unusual story and dearly want "legends" to brighten their lives.
      Funny how those who are most interested in Moe have a product, market or themselves to push in some commercial way. They even squabble among themselves. It seems the sad "autistic" man had many, many special "buddies" who he took under his wing to share golfing "secrets" with.
      In reality, in his time, he was an outcast for his antics. But hey, let's not let reality spoil a good story.

    Faldo just likes being touched by Fanny.Barry it was money wasted down the drain. The crazy crap they try to turn your grip into is tragic, as well as the holding of the club one foot or more behind the ball at address is asinine.
    They try to get you jerking the club way inside and then "lifting the triangle" straight up like Nicklaus, but fer- cryin'-out-loud they want you doin' this with minimal turn!
    Barry this swing had me so tied in knots and sore I contemplated suicide on the driving range. And if you abandon the very strong "palm grip" they champion it wont help.
    After screwing with this crap for 8 months I was ready to break all my clubs, but instead I kicked the half full jumbo range bucket a few yards out in front of me and put one of my own Slazenger Raw Distance balls on the matt. I stood back and went Zen Master on the ball and slowly did the Harvey Pennick slowmotion drill, letting my arms hang naturally and doing the Hogan move from the top.
    Now mind you I'm a 6' 1" 255 lb dude with Popeye forearms, but Barry I smoothed a 255 yard towering Powerbilt laminated 5-wood. Then I went home and trashed all the Moe Norman videos and literature and vowed to shut it down for 4 months while my body and brittle mind healed.
    Barry the "no stress, no strain" claims of the Moe Norman/Natural Golf system are laughable. This system attempts to mold the golf swing into a straight arm violent and quick slash.
    If you want to explore a sort of "single plane" open and shut the door type swing then study pro Matt Kutcher.
    God dam Moe Norman to mother-foikin' hell!

    • @maxxsee
      @maxxsee 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya. Moe had no power. He just hit the ball 270+ at 72 years of age... And what about accuracy? He was the best. Just cause most ppl get no power from his system doesn't mean the system is wrong. It just means it's very hard to understand, since no one cracked it. But I think I finally have and it took me 14 years. Before I hit my pw 110 yards max. Now I hit it 130 with little effort. I hit my 8 iron about 155 yards. Believe me, this swing, when you understand it, has a lot of power and a lot of turn if the player is flexible. Straight legs and locked knees at adress too! ;)

      ermmm Moe himself said nobody should mimmick his swing... play with the 5.5inches between the ears before you trash Moe. There are people in jail wishing they could be on the fairway.. and there are people on fairway being choked by the ball in the prison of their mind. Aim and fire, Moe is a philosopher not a golf coach bud.

      dedicated2WHOiLove You’re not a Christian, are you?
      Players such as Tiger Woods, Nick Faldo, Paul Azinger, Lee Trevino, Johnny Miller, BEN HOGAN, SAM SNEAD...and many, many more, have called Moe Norman THE BEST ball striker they have EVER seen.
      Just because YOU are incapable of mimicking Moe’s swing, you “God Damn him to hell”?
      If you’re such a genius, and if you’re such a great ball striker yourself, what we’re you ever doing trying to mimic Moe’s swing in the first place?
      I’d venture to say that you’re not a very good golfer.
      You brag about your size, but I’m 57 years old, 5’ 9” and weigh 170 pounds, and play to a +2.7 GHIN. So what if you can hit your driver 255 yards; I hit my driver further than that.

      Roland Sievers do some research before talking trash. He was ahead in a tournament and overheard people talking about the best bunker players and he was not mentioned. He hit his ball off the green into the bunker on purpose (while leading) and shot it close and still won the tournament and said. I'm the best.
