    Emanuel I am loving your vids.
    What I am strugging with is voicings for chords. So I see lots of guys play a major chord, the first time they voice it as a sus2 then next time a c6/9 then a cmaj9, and I know it's nice that the teacher knows all these chords but as a learner I think it would be good to say here is a chord progression, the major chords we are going to play in this voicing, the minor chords in this voicing the dim chords in this voicing. Here is a chord progression. Lesson over. Lesson two review the chords from last lesson quickly, here are different voicings for those major, minor, dim chords we learned.
    Now we do the progression again. Now flip out the voicings. That way we now have 2 voicings for major, minor and dim chords.
    Hope you understand what Im getting at. In this video you are pretty consistent I see that the 7th is the last note in all your chords. Thanks for the work I am actually learning something and I have been watching a lot of these jazz/gospel type videos.

    • @EmanuelBlancoPiano
      @EmanuelBlancoPiano  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thank you for the ideas. Most of the time, the voicings that i use are trying to accomodate to the melody of the song that I may be playing at the moment.

    • @howumighthaveanimatedthat2159
      @howumighthaveanimatedthat2159 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EmanuelBlancoPiano yeah got that I was thinking for beginners mostly so they would have a progression to practice with some voicing choices.
      Or maybe a way of how you visualise what chord to play based on the melody. Or make a melody up and then show ways to add chords to it.
      I am enjoyiyour vids something about your style is working for me.

    Hey man nice vid, but forgive me I’m a little less experienced in Jazz pianos. Your first chord progression the 2-5-1 in F Major was confusing because it’s not the type of 2-5-1 I learned. Your left hand was going on keys that wasn’t a 2, 5, or a 1 chord. Can you point me in a direction of lessons that could explain why you would consider those keys in the Major 2-5-1?

    • @aidandm
      @aidandm 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The reason why this would still be a 2-5-1 is because they are in fact the same chords just inverted or played lower on the piano than normal. He goes from G to C back to F.

    Can I ask, for the first chord progression, how did you figure out the left hand for the second chord? Because I want to do it in different keys

    •  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Left hand for the second chord is the V in II - V - I. So in this case the II is Gmin7, so the V is C7. If the II was Bmin7 for example, the V would be E7.

    Another question on Major chords for left hand when do you decide to do 1-5-1 or 1-5-7 on your Maj 9's or it doesn't really matter since the 7 is in the right

    • @EmanuelBlancoPiano
      @EmanuelBlancoPiano  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly it depends mostly on whether my hands can reach the 10th which is my goal for the left hand. If it cant i settle for the 1-5-1 or the 1-5-7 if the voicing im using has a 7.
