Am7 - Ab9(13) - Gm7 - F#9(13) - Fmaj9
or sometimes .Am7 - D9(13) - Gm9 - C9b5 - Fmaj9
instead of the first verse C C7sus4/D C2/E I sometimes do C Bb2/D C2/E

The best step to take is to try to learn songs exactly like the record. This will indirectly build your vocabulary of different voicings for chords that you may already know.
