@@CrystalCleanWindows hello mate, sorry for not calling you by name (please provide) maybe in the future sometime for a live chat, just subscribed to your channel, or at least I think I have, bit of a dinosaur I’m afraid when it comes to modern technology, I like watching your posts because they are all relevant to the window cleaner just starting out or indeed people who have been in the trade for years. I must say your enthusiasm for sharing knowledge is something I no longer have myself as I have been doing this job for 25 years plus, 2 lads on the books PAYE system but in my early years of window cleaning I was ambitious and hungry to succeed, now after putting in an awful lot of work and consideration for EVERY client, I am in the fortunate position not to now worry about growth of my business as I am ALWAYS behind of my schedule, which I must say is stressful enough without having to add any further worries if you know what I mean. Love your work and please know that whilst watching your posts, always puts a smile on my face, plus you are helping lots of future budding start up window cleaners to have information that they need to move forward in their businesses. One last thing that I wish to say is that with desire to succeed and an awful lot of time and dedication to your business, YOU WILL achieve your goals, you just have to work extremely hard to get to the finish line so to speak. Keep up the good work 👍
Just caught up , great content , I’m guilty of not checking above me for cables , definately going to be more aware , my trainers have been leaking for weeks , I’ve ended up wrapping my feet in sandwich bags till I can afford some new footwear!!! what a Nightmare time for an MOT 😵💫 thanks Rob 👍🏻
What’s the rule on texting the customer you’re going to be there the day before and the gate is locked when you turn up. Charge full price ? Charge for the front ? Or a price that is cheaper than all round but dearer than just the front ? Nice one Rob
H Dave mate, we just charge for what we clean as houses are all different. Usually it is just an accident as life gets in the way. Probably nothing wrong with putting a little extra on for the front only so you do not lose out to much. It depends also i would say on how much you need those customers or on how you feel comfortable about the situation. I do get some customers would rather have security but a key or code would be handy.
@Darren-q3w nothing is black and white really, I tend to roll with it as life just gets in the way sometimes. But I’df they are a serial gate locker then I would have to think it through .
When meeting the customer for the very first time and agreeing price for whole house and also discussing that you will text night before (remember customer could be on holiday and their phone could be switched off ) I always state and agree with them that I will charge a price for the front only if no chance of getting over back of property with a ladder( if possible to get over with ladders and customer agrees this method) then just carry on. If impossible to get over back because it’s not accessible, revert to initial agreement of front only, but a front only price must be a worthwhile price because you have used fuel etc to get to job in first place, for instance if a job is worth £20 for whole property and I have been bothered to text the night before but received no response back, my price for front only would be £15 which I would have already agreed with customer when I first meet them. Hopefully they will remember initial conversation, if not just remind them and then should be smooth sailing so to speak. Just remember your time and costs are valuable, no point in charging £10 for frontage as you don’t really gain because of overheads. Hope this helps. Always have the initial conversation with client.
Hi Collin mate, all makes perfect sense and good advice for everyone 👍 I do ask if it is ok to use my ladder inxase they forhet to unlock the gate. I do chargwe only for what i have cleaned, but i do get yor point about overheads so charge more for front only. Like you say it is good to explain this with your customer.
