    Hi Rob smooth work as always , I’m still trying to master the not over cleaning !!! I’ve just politely dropped a customer for skipping/not wanting to leave her gate unlocked , most of my Work is 8 weekly so i decided I wasn’t doing cleans every 16weeks,if they are generally good customers i dont mind , is most of your work 4 weekly ? I found 8 weekly alllowed me to Grow my customers and make Room for them in the time I have available and it wasn’t too frequent for them Either but horses for courses and all that !

    Hi Rob. Really enjoying your channel. We barely get any skips. We organise all our customers into rounds. Then clean them in order. We just let our customers know its monthly. If there is restrictions with access, we don't send reminders. We ask to cut a copy of any keys, or it's no service. We just keep a box of keys in the van for locked gates. Our welcome flyers, let's customers know we need 48 hours notice or its a cancellation fee. Much the same as a dentist or many other businesses. I feel your being too nice, and it's costing you. There is no right or wrong way, of course. This is just how we deal with it. All the best from Scotland.

      Window cleaning is a great business to start. You get regular income and you can upsell other service to your customer base. It’s not as easy as some people think but with a bit of motivation and planning it’s possible.

    You guys work so hard, it's disappointing that your round is so spread out. I assume you have tried targeting the bigger towns and villages to try and compact your customers? I know it's difficult and you feel guilty about dropping good loyal customers but it's your living and you want to be comfortable not scraping a living.

    • @CrystalCleanWindows
      @CrystalCleanWindows 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Ched thank you 🙏 some days are brilliant and some days are harder to do. I try and get my work as compact as I can. I am looking at pricing better but without being to high. Also looking at a minimum charge too.

    • @ched999uk
      @ched999uk 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@CrystalCleanWindows Finding the pricing balance is hard. It does depend a bit on how full you are. If you are getting to a full round then new enquiries could be priced higher. I aim to get about 80% of my window cleaning quotes. Minimum charge is a good idea especially as you have 3 in the van, but set it at a decent rate, I have a set amount that covers setup and pack up time, then a per window price (well a window and a large window price) with a minimum of £15.

    Nice vid Rob👍 on the next one can you show what speed you tend to have your flow rate on mate, you seem to clean the sills a lot quicker that I can it seems to take forever to stop bits of wet dirt seeping back onto the clean sill👎👎👎 Don’t know if my flow rate isn’t high enough

    • @CrystalCleanWindows
      @CrystalCleanWindows 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you 🙏 I have my flow rate set to 50 at the moment. I used to be on 30 then had it set to 40 for a while. The flow rate though depends on each person’s set up. A good way to find out the flow rate for you would be to use a bucket and your phone as a timer. Change the flow rate settings until you can get 2 litres in a bucket in a minute. For me that is 50 psi. But this will be different on set ups as depends on hose size, how old the pump is type of jets on your brush etc

      Thank you, yeah that roof can be an arm buster yet satisfying to get out of the way. It's not easy when it comes to pricing.

    That was some arm wrenching conny roof!!! It's such a pity your jobs are so spread out. I would guess you could be hitting almost double what you did on this day with a compact round but you have to work with what you have. I have some early customers that are way under priced too but I feel bad about raising them to where they should be. Great to see some tricky jobs - not many people are willing to show those.

    • @CrystalCleanWindows
      @CrystalCleanWindows 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Cheers Ched I used to dread that job lol 😂 but I like a few tricky jobs as it kinda tests you. I know what you mean about early customers, they got you started and have been loyal. Loyalty should work both ways. Regular work is important to have a monthly income. Being reasonably priced might mean you are working hard but also you’ll have years of working even through the hard times.

    It's great when you have a good days work that goes well, i know working as a three is not as efficient as have two vans. But this is how we work for now, to grow i need another van on the road Sophie has plans to move.

  • @adamangler
    @adamangler 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

    No offence intended but theres something really wrong if you are living this hand to mouth with an established business. Either way too many outgoings or underpriced. That said working 3 in a van is terribly inefficent. Ive never needed to work a bank holiday in the 10 yrs ive been window cleaning. I work 4 days a week 6 hours a day and dont spend everything i earn therefore slowly build up a savings pot over time. I never stress about having a holiday or the weather as i work in all weathers all year round.

    • @CrystalCleanWindows
      @CrystalCleanWindows 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      No offence taken mate, it is certainly something we keep asking ourselves. Probably a lot of underpriced work. Looking at changing a few things to start the new tax year, just getting them all in place at the moment. I Agree with 3 man team but I only have one van. Sophie will be moving away at some point but that is all on hold at the moment, so I am in limbo.

  • @longlivefreedom9853

    Are you 100 % sure that working in 3 ´s is the best way to go ? From my experience of working in pairs... You can earn much more when working alone in most or many cases than if you can in pairs let alone triples.. But you can only do that if you have extra vans on the road. 3 single drivers could earn much more than 1 driver but again it depends on the amount of traveling....In a city it would be much wiser to go alone if making money is your goal ! I would contemplate this or give it ago at least for a few days..... 3 drivers as an example would mean you would be expanding less energy , earning more money and working less hours on the job itself

    • @CrystalCleanWindows
      @CrystalCleanWindows 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Good point and i would agree with you, but my daughter will be moving away soon and she doesn't like driving. Matthew i think would one day drive but he isn't ken to drive the van about yet. I was looking at getting my wife to drive one van and i drive the other one. Thinking two teams of two in both vans, we didn't get a loan for another van and system because of the cost of living crisis. Wanted to see how it all went before committing to another loan. Need a loan at the moment to get a new soakaway, so a second van will have to wait for know!

      No problem Matt mate, had a couple of dramas today! Wish i was filming the day, Industrial 85 stopped working on me. Changed fuses, actually in the field stripped the head apart and removed the three motors. Managed to do it and get it all put back together as well. But found out it was a blockage in the hoses that caused it all. Pine needles which are very light so the hoses didn't feel like it was blocked. Once sorted it ran well, all happened on the first job. Battled through and got all the work complete.

    Hi Robb. Spot on the right water flow for the job is key Not pressure. The ideal is the right flow rate at the lowest pressure so a larger ID hose will carry more water at a lower pressure . The ideal is a curtain of water flowing across the glass. To much flow at high pressure can see water bouncing of the glass and pull debris of the window surround. Also agree that the larger teh ID hose the less strain is placed on the pump. A controller allows the pump to work only as heard as is needed saving battery power and water

      As long as I have the customers permission we will use a ladder to go up on one side. Then a section of my triple ladder to go down the other side.

    So I thought I would run the test today to see how much water I get in 1 min. Ran my flow controller at 80 with my x line wide brush with the rinse bar. in 1 min it was exactly 2 litres on water. I then turned down the controller to 70 and it was 1.75 litres of water. I think I'm going to test all my other brushes and make a list of what to run them at. Great live as usual.

      Hi Matt, what are the chances of that? Geat to hear that it was a 2 litre per min at the setting you liked. Great way to see the settings for the other brushes. Would also be good for the Gardiners backpack. So you know the rough area for the flow controller knob to be.

    The iPhone weather app is by far the best in my experience! I used to use dark sky as well and they were bought by Apple and incorporated into the built in weather app. I find it incredibly accurate down to the minute or so when it’s going to rain 👍

      I loved Dark Sky to, was well pleased that Apple used incorporated them. It is also what i now use for manking these weather decisions.

    On my regular customers I rinse on the glass, stiffer brush with high flow and 100• fans, never had any problems with spotting, no complaints either so win win 👍🏻 First cleans and less regular jobs I will always use xline brush with rinse bar though.

      Nice to know about rinsing on the glass with high flow and the stiffer brush. I have been thinking about using the Xline Rinse bar brush first cleans. And to try a Gardiners brush for maintenance cleans.

      It’s worth a small punt but for me it attracted the wrong type of customer. It has worked for other people though. To be honest as you get busier you’ll find word of mouth the best way to get new customers. A small advert in a local advertiser works really well. Village voices is an advertiser that delivers to all the local villages with some articles. £60 for a year on the smallest advert size. One monthly customer will more than cover that. Plus you get to have your name alongside other local businesses.

    Great job. It’s hard cleaning the high windows. I always find that it takes longer to clean the high ones. Do you put your camera on your head?

      Hi Matt, the higher windows do take a little longer. The pole is more bendy, and I probably over clean a bit just to make sure it’s clean. I have a head strap mate for the action 4 from amazon

    What size tank do you use? Also how do you stop the water from freezing in the winter?

    • @CrystalCleanWindows
      @CrystalCleanWindows หลายเดือนก่อน

      The tank i use is a 500 ltr and the water in the tank does not freeze. But the water in the hoses or the pumps can freeze. To stop this i will place a oil rad heater in that has a thermostat.

      Thought I’d let you know what I do. I have to park across the road to my house so can’t put any type of heater in as the cable would be stretched across the road. I wrap my tank up in a king size thick duvet at night. The hose reels are on top and I put a couple of hot water bottles under the duvet to keep the frost off.

      Thank you 🙏 we try to be efficient, doesn’t always work out that way. But you learn the best way to clean a particular house. Having a set up and pack away routine helps. I used to time a clean and then beat that on the next clean.

    Hello mate just starting out window cleaning any advise on how to build an efficient round

    • @CrystalCleanWindows
      @CrystalCleanWindows หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would say try and keep your work compact. So when new work comes in, put it on the same round as a customer that is close by. Cleaning 4 customers without moving your van helps cut down on time. Travelling as little as possible between jobs helps very much. Someone said to me you only earn money when the brush is on the glass. In time it will naturally start to build up. At the start you will go where the work is, then the more jobs you get the more you can choose to take on. You will then start to replace work with the far away work. I just wish I did that from day one. Look on Google earth and try to target areas local to you. Having Squeegee App has helped me build rounds. Use this time to work out how to be efficient with packing and packing away routine. Think of ways to save time while still doing a good job. Because later you will be so busy and these things will then help you.

    A heatwave can slow you down cleaning the windows and you need to look after yourself or each other. Really glad i have a cool box in the van this year.
