    Great video, thank you. The sounds you have programmed have really highlighted what I love about Peak, which I consider to be a stunning synth. The best part is - I already own it, so I don't have to start working out how to afford one! :) I'm really looking forward to getting the update though. The layout of Peak is brilliant and it has an edgy, futuristic, gritty, organic sound. I've lost evenings programming mine.. It can do a such broad spectrum of sounds and the whole damn thing is one big sonic sweet spot that takes you off in all kinds of sound design directions. It's like crack once you start twiddling the knobs and I've learned so much about synthesis from using it.

    You had me at 3:56! I remember your voice and the informative chapter graphics from way back. Another great job man! As a side note, in future type displays, you can use a subtle dark transparent gradient from the left of your screen instead of a fuzzy drop shadow. It's less noticeable.

    • @loopop
      @loopop  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alexander Reyes thanks! Funny, I used the gradient for a while and then got comments that the drop shadow would be cleaner :/

    • @alexanderreyes6874
      @alexanderreyes6874 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@loopop I'm a designer for television, but what do I know? Maybe the gradient was a bit too opaque. Maybe I should just shut up and let the world have more drop shadows. Also, I loved your superimposed oscilloscopes. I felt like I was watching the technology featured in "It Follows" (retro but modern). With the flat screen tech emerging something like this can happen. Excuse while I check the prices on a Peak...

      Lumani I own all but the DM. I have to say the Peak and the Medusa get my vote for thinking outside the box, taking a risk and making something original. Just my opinion for whatever it’s worth.

    • @messer21
      @messer21 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Guilherme Rocha That’s a tuff one, both are great synths and very different. It comes down to what kind of sound are you looking to add to your studio? Comes down to preference. For me I dig the Peak a bit more because the sound is just deferent from a thing else I have in the studio.

    • @_thanksdavid_
      @_thanksdavid_ 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the DM wins in terms of intuitive controls + extensive modulation. Rev 2 of course has intuitive control but it doesn't go that.... deep.. The base oscillators are definitely better, but for the most part, the Rev 2 stays in it's "classic" style lane whereas the DM can go into some crazy experimental places if you want it to.
      I don't have the Peak, but the menu diving look of that tiny screen makes me very hesitant despite it's great sound and capabilities.

I couldn't be happier with the Peak. The sound is amazing, and the synth is so incredibly versatile. It's also intuitive. Even the menu's are intuitive. I haven't even opened the manual and I have yet to be stuck trying to find a setting or parameter. It does everything and does it well. If you are on the fence, just go get it. I would be interested to make ambient music in 432Hz with my NP. The 1.2 Micro-tuning options seems not to allow that, just only to change notes. Any ideas ? Thanks for sharing tips with us.

    Is there zippering when the delay time is modulated? It sounds like it but I hope not. That is the first thing I am going to check when the update goes live.

    • @thomashoffend4299
      @thomashoffend4299 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The delay doesn't zipper. I think the sound we hear in the video is a repeating sharp envelope snap or something. I think I just spent about 30-40 minutes playing with a single sine wave oscillator and messing around with modulating the delay time and adjusting other parameters.

    The hologram ports on the back for the oscilloscopes set it apart from most other synths that are out right now. But they aren’t using the new HoloSync 2.0 architecture so I’m holding out for a bit longer. Low frame-rate holograms have never worked well for high frequency sounds and they never will. It looks great in marketing and on paper but in practice you end up with tons of postlogging and photocortexing. Anyways, thanks for the vid.

    • @loopop
      @loopop  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks but nah - all the synths on this channel have the same hologram scopes - it's pretty much standard these days ;)

    • @jaydekaytv
      @jaydekaytv 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      loopop On this channel yeah, and that’s great and is the main reason they look so clear in your videos. But not everyone has a holoport rectifier like you to clean up the postlogging, let alone two. That’s the only downside to your otherwise excellent videos; they make the scopes look better than they really are. I get why you do it and it looks awesome, but it does paint a slightly rosier picture than what 99.99% of people will actually see in person. Anyways, just a minor thing - keep up the great work!
