In case anyone is wondering, that is a portrait of Lady Epstein, Kathleen Garman. The portion of her face was deliberately distorted, while the rest is properly scaled. She had a sense of humor. Given the title of the Vivaldi piece here, this image is highly appropriate and very well-selected.
Interesting, but do not know why this image is very well-selected, as you say
Lucien Freud's art was distorted. That was his style. Van Gogh couldn't paint proper hands, but who cares
Davvero scioccante: ho ascoltato il brano con le cuffie, ed è stato impressionante, specialmente il finale! Grande esecuzione! Un saluto da Napoli (Italia)
I don’t know why, but what amazes me most is the piercing sound of the harpsichord, but the piano is not! Thanks for the great music!
Piano's hammers use a soft felt to strike the keys. Harpsichord instead uses a hard wooden plectrum to pluck each string.
The use of soft materials tends to take away the piercing sound (many of the high frequency overtones, the ones that would give a piercing sound, are not heard when using the soft felt against the string)
It's similar to the effect of using a soft felt mallet on a drum instead of a hard wooden one.
Yes, the Lady in the portrait looks Mad!
(Follia=Locura=Madness)
Just gorgeous....
Thats brutal. I love this
i love the finale
Lovely. I love how I can sing very slowly to the quick tempo parts, connecting me with the transcendental cosmic magic of this music. It fills me with joy and wonder.
Estro armonico!
So beautiful 😍 thanks. First time I hear this on harpsichord solo, either is great music
It's a transcription by the harpsichordist himself.
the last minute's the best bit
I constantly imagine some kind of epic fairy tale duel. Truly lovely music. :-)
In my eyes(pretty sure this is true, eh...)I see a huge, bloody war that happened for a while. Definately some fairytale duel sounds though, I can see why you imagine!
Belíssimo. Delicado. É mais do que música: é magia. Sonho. Faz bem ao cérebro e à alma.
Sim, tirou as palavras de minha boca 💓💓💓💓
This one goes immediately on my top 40 list. Great find. Theme and variations, only makes it better. Great painting from the 40s. Nineteen forties. Picasso like.
The painting is by Lucian Freud, Girl with Roses.
Супер ! Так лупить по клавишам это искусство !
Amazing!! Is there a possibility to view the sheet music, or aquire it somehow?
no pueden poner una publicidad a la mitad de esta obra !!!!!

Why not Lucian Freud? To you, what kind of image is good for this music?
I like the music but the face is really off-putting
Whys her face so weird
Why not?
She is mad
