After 32 years I've finally found this movie. I remember watching it when I was 7 or 8. I just remember post apocalyptic and roller skates as the only details about this movie.

I found my way here because it's free on Prime, still haven't seen it... Based on the trailer alone, let me see if I've figured it out. The world is all dried up, and some genetically enhanced people have taken control of what water remains while enslaving everyone else. So some roller skating kids decide to break out of jail to rescue an orb from space, which somehow allows them to release the water and go swimming?
I remember very well this film because was filming in Spain, and I work as Production Asistant in the film; This was me first work in american film shooting in Spain. Last mouth I found the original script, the Story boards, an the budget in an old garage in a house of my family. Some drawing was wonderful. Nice days.
I saw this film on VHS when available in the video store then. I was 8 years old when it was released. Also during this year The Mosquito Coast was released - great film!
I really enjoyed the hell out of this movie. Post apocalyptic 80s fun on roller skates. I understand it was a terrible financial & box office flop at the time-kinda surprised because it's a lot of fun, kind of like a teen Mad Max meets Waterworld with some Starlight Express mixed in.
Anyone remember a martial arts movie in the 90s where part of the guys training is to chase City bus? That's why I'm here and I fell down a damn rabbit hole

I liked this movie as a kid even though it wasn't popular. Nowaday's there are too many movie remake's from the 60's (The Time Machine, The Day the Earth Stood Still) 70's, and especially the 80's that shouldn't even be touched. However with the way story line's are changed and technology in movie's is present now, movie's like "The Neverending Story", "Flash Gordon", "The Ghoulies", "Basket Case" and "Solar Babies" could definitely have a remake done to them.
I think I understood that this movie was cheesy even as an 10 yr old, but that didnt stop me from watching it everytime it came on tv back then. And Jami Gertz was the shiznit back then 😍. The nostalgia almost hurts 🥺
Ok so I was 5 when this came out and I remember watching this with my bros on our beta lol but I have had dreams about it lately and couldn’t think of title. I just have weird memories of the kid and the ball lol. Wasn’t the kid deaf too?

Yeah the kid was deaf. He's the same guy that was in "Inception". He was the guy who betrayed Leonardo DiCaprio and Joseph Gordon Levitt's character when Ken Watanabe's character caught him working for the company that was hired to track them down and he took him away as they were flying off in the helicopter.
OK, so in the future these mean people put covers on all of the lakes, rivers, and oceans so no one can get a drink with out permission. Oh, and this blue sphere from space comes down to give kids magical powers. So what do we call it? How about Water Warz? Drinkpocalypse? Supermagic Teens Against SMERSH? How about Solarbabies??!!! Uh, where does the sun come in with this idea? And I mean, we only show them as kids, not babies or toddlers. We're going with SOLARBABIES!
Based on the trailer, it looks like this “Bodhi” ends up giving the world water again. Later, “Bodhi” takes human form and seeks thrills like surfing, skydiving, and bank robbing while being pursued by Johnny Utah.
🤦 How did I not see this movie at all, like I'm being serious. I have never watched this movie here. I have to buy the dvd, that's if I still can get it. This looks like a very old movie probably the '80s maybe, I'm just guessing I don't know for sure.
I have this movie on VHS 📼 and watched it just last night. Think “Mad Max” for kids, with street-hockey and a glowing ball that makes the team giggle when they hold hands... but watch out for Bird Boy. He knows about glowey (Bodhi) and he’s got his own plans for it! It’s a post-apocalyptic, roller-skating showdown, minus the boobies and hulking biker-killers a better movie had (Road Warrior).
