BEST INTRO EVER! When you lined up all of those vodka shots...I thought you were going to start a cop movie or announce you were getting a divorce. As awesome as always Sir.
Cold vodka, freezed salt pork fat (salo) , hot potates and a raey bpead... mmmm.... Happy 1983 year, Soviet Army. 5 shoots vodka in row, without eat, you are realy cool, mate!
Mr.gundog the small sheet with expiration dates on the very bottom wasn't for the foil packaged meals, was for the pepper, dugar etc...as it reads ''Sugar, Tea, etc...''
16:53 Wrighting on chocolate bar says: "Победа" (Victory) 18:50 That bacon stuff (Шпик) is ment to be eaten at out-of-freezer temperature. In thin slices, preferably with rye bread Great vids btw =)
As exNavy I am blown away by the 5 shot intro. Sailors pride themselves in their drinking skills but this is off the chart. Gunny earns a 5 gun salute for pounding 5 shots. How was the hangover? EDIT: make that a six gun salute to include the last shot at the end. Epic... now go pray at the porcelain god.Me, I’m sticking to beer.
Nice review, your're getting professional in Russian rations. This mystery alphabet is becoming familiar to you :). The pork fat is quite common in Eastern Europe (Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Lithuania), also as a snack to the vodka ;)
I have to say I am rather impressed with these Russian IRP's. One would think that Russian troops would be eating stuff like C-RATS but I think some of their menus are better than some of our MRE's (Chili & Beans as well as Chili Mac are still excellent MRE meals IMHO). I know this is a 24 hour ration and our MRE's are a single ration that is supposed to be handed out 3 times a day in separate meals to attain the 3100-3300 calories needed for troop movement. I was speaking from an individual basis if you were to take some items from each and do a comparison. That being said those chemical fuel tablets stink like nothing else when used and a solid FRH like the MealSpec ones (as the US Military ones are meh sometimes, and especially after their 3 year cycle period) are superior to that of the fuel tablets (arctic conditions may prove more beneficial to the fuel tablets).
+Spartan536 It's interesting talking with a few soldiers and one officer from the Russian Federation and it's not a common thing to get these. From what I understand, even under direct combat conditions they use a field kitchen or do without entirely. In fact the officer said he commonly used and was told the phrase "You won't die if you don't eat today" Tough Love Indeed! Cheers
+Spartan536 well, although most of this stuff is a pretty good, there are few small yet very important details. Like all IRPs contain rice\buckwheat porrige with meat, one of two kinds vegie stew and one of three kinds meat meals. Seven "different" menus in total. Cheese and pates are awful btw. Not bad though but far from MRE diversity.
Most awesome. Had to read that the vodka shots were done post shoot, that would have been a funny one if you did them then shot the vid. Good info as always GDog, keep on keeping on amigo.
+Paul Buikema Yeah, I think I'll be foregoing that aspect from now on. I thought it would add a nice touch but those shots ended up being rather large and have more of an effect than I was anticipating. My hindside will be sticking with beer from now on....
I found you oddly from Emmy and I watched the video you where talking about, I am new to your channel so this might sound like a stupid question but here goes nothing, where you in the military? I am a Army brat myself. My Dad was in the Army for over 25 years, sadly I lost my Dad 6 years ago and these kind of videos make me feel close to him, and yes I was Daddy's little girl
+Shannon Kerr Howdy, yeah Emmy is a hoot. I was in the Army like your father, I just did 5 years though. I am a Navy Brat so we have that in common. Sorry about your father but take comfort he's upstairs partying with his other departed Army buddies till the rest of us show up. Cheers Shannon
I'd want to mix in the bacony fat stuff with the lovely hash... couldn't take it by itself though! This is a lovely, fun review! Thanks for making and sharing!
That looks like a cold-weather ration, due to the high fat and sugar content. These are designed to be higher in calories in order to compensate for the increased caloric expenditure due to the cold.
Our rations and vodka are harsh and merciless))) Good channel and reviews long ago you signed,in your opinion our Russian ration compared to other how would you evaluate him?
+Иван Горюнов I have tried many rations from many places. The IRP is still my top 3 rations as the best. I look forward to trying more of the different types and diets. Cheers!
This is not vodka :D I tried it only a single time, but I can say. Those bubbles reveal the truth. Vodka has no bubbles when you pour it :D Probably my origin helped me to differ it) Kind of genes and stuff P. S. Still, nice humour. And the review is great as always!
can you do a revolutionary ration? 1 pound each: beef or pork, Fresh bread or cornmeal/flour, beans or pea, coffee or tea (not 1 pound) and boom 1 24hr ration
+chimpaflimp Suspicious nothing, I had to take a break. Who wants to watch 5 minutes of someone wheezing? I'm a beer guy that overreached in the shot department.
Yeah no crap! I have not had a shot of vodka since my 1st IRP vid well over a year ago. Didn't help with the shot glasses I picked compared to last time....I think I'll not be doing that again.
salted is good but saured is better for drinking vodka (saureing/salting is not what west nations do very often, but it is very popular amongs slavic nations, asians too, vegetable is made like pickled but you put it into salty water for several months instead of vinegar, look for details over net). It goes as very good snack for heavy drinking - a must have for moon shine booze (you know, that one like 60-80%)
I haven't. Most of the time the acidity is pretty low or well balanced, but I have known some people that couldn't eat chocolate or tomato based sauce or they would get heartburn. This is something I'll look into. Cheers
I'm not Russian so I'm not bias but I do believe Russians MRE are the best at least for my test I would love to eat everything in it greetings from sLOVEnija
Huh!? :D With such intro, you're more russian than most of russians :D i hope vodka was cold, because I have the suspicion that you have been drinking "warm", otherwise it would not be so many glasses in one time ;D And now you need a bear and the picture is perfect (like this one th-cam.com/video/b3lVD6DdG_U/w-d-xo.html) i'm not sure ,- maybe "Alligator" would accept a new guard dog!? :D Cheers !
+Radimkiller It's a trade off. Russian stuff is packed with natural preservative (grease, fat, oil) and has a shelf life of only 2 years before it starts degrading. Once upon a time an american officer met a russian. And russian officer says: "each russian soldier have 2000 сalories per day!" And american say: "our soldiers have 4000 сaloria". And the russian says: "You lying, no man can eat 20kg of swede!

I mean not shots, fill entire glass, then drink it(yep, whole glass). But traditionally drink vodka like i described only with some food(more - better). Also, if you aerating with carbon dioxide(like in occacola and other soda), effect will be cool. I don't want to say that american way to drink is bad, but that way is strange(IMHO).

Those videos really make my day! Thanks for the work, you put in making them. You're doing a great job! :)

Okay I've given in and ordered a Russian 24hr RatPack, I see every review has Kawa and I'm dying to try some. Subbed for more tasty reviews.

These are always fun. I'm looking forward to doing a few more I have sitting here just begging to be eaten. Cheers J.R.!
The intro with the guy drinking vodka is awesome
If not stupid HAHA Cheers!
This is probably one of my favourite MREs, quite tasty.
FYI the box that has foil inside is actually made that way to carry water in it.
Great tip! Cheers
my favorite Russian tea is black Diamond it's ridiculously good definitely try some if you can get your hands on it yellow diamond is good too
+jamalwatkinsQ I'll have to check that out. Cheers!
Isn't most flour made from wheat?
Possibly wheat and rye based?
when he said this will be tough I was like НЕТ
+achtungcircus
probably flour and wholewheat, or something like that
+achtungcircus So is white bread but it's a different color than wheat bread. Go figure huh
gschultz put a little hot water in a can of cheese to melt it a little in the ration relay I think.
Thank you for the video, that is awsome!
That looks like a cold-weather ration, due to the high fat and sugar content. These are designed to be higher in calories in order to compensate for the increased caloric expenditure due to the cold.
Entirely correct. I am in the process of getting a few FSB Mountain rations those things really have some extra calories. Cheers!
I've always used the hot water to make drink mix, especially kool aid types since it takes forever to desolve
You got me with the Vodka at the start!!! Drink up Shriner's!!
Hi gundog another great vid keep it up
Good to see thank you for the video.
It's not me, it's not my, family, In your head, in your head, they are FIIIIIGGGHHHHTTTTTTIIIIIIIINNNN

good video mate, i first got my Australian defense Force MRE on its way
The new ones are supposed to be different from the ADF one I reviewed. Let me know what you thought of it. Cheers
will do
ADF = American Defence Force mate
This is not vodka :D I tried it only a single time, but I can say. Those bubbles reveal the truth. Vodka has no bubbles when you pour it :D Probably my origin helped me to differ it) Kind of genes and stuff

this ration look way better than the one i try last year ! it was fine to eat but my god i wont eat that every day for a week loll
The author begins to drink vodka with glasses №2 ...... so much easier is drunk!
When are u gonna make a new video? Seems like it's been forever.
can someone clarify the two different types of water purification tablets please
Suspicious jumpcut at 0:43
+chimpaflimp Suspicious nothing, I had to take a break. Who wants to watch 5 minutes of someone wheezing? I'm a beer guy that overreached in the shot department.
+gundog4314 lol liquor is quicker
Yeah no crap! I have not had a shot of vodka since my 1st IRP vid well over a year ago. Didn't help with the shot glasses I picked compared to last time....I think I'll not be doing that again.
gundog4314 down five pints of beer when you do your next German one. PROVE TO THE ALCOHOL THAT YOU ARE WORTHY
What do i say to a review that starts with the reviewer pouring shots?
I say: "Me likey".
wish I knew where I could get one to try.
Amazing intro... you should tell your superiors to let us in Canada
Damn, I'm Russian and I see Im the only one in the comments who do not drink vodka. Glad to see that stereotypes are still alive)))))
nah. you ain't russian :p
But russia is gud for you
alexejnemov Не угадал , я самый , что ни на есть русский )))
Xaxaxaxa. Sory im western spy so i cant understand cyrillic.
Russian American yea.. I've been to Russia and damn if I didn't drink a shit-ton of Vodka with the Russian folk! Your point is invalid!
"This is gonna be rough" Naw, Gundog, you got it all wrong..... "Dis gon' be gud". lol
Where do you get your international rations?
Great review!
So why do I think that "Vodka" is water?
+leighrate Gundog is a veteran. I doubt that is water.
+leighrate I can send you the rest of the bottle and you can find out for yourself.
+gundog4314 lol do it GDog... Maybe he/she is a minor so never mind!
Whats the differences between this and the one with the star on it? i recently ordered the one with the star on it
No difference, same stuff, they are just practical and use up all the stock before moving on to newer designs.
where do you get these foreign mre's?
Pate, unlike Spam, is often smooth.
Is that the word?
More of a spread/paste : )
do you know of a place where I can get these in wholesale? would love to pick a few up just to have and maby make a video of my own .
I do not know any direct wholesalers sorry.
You should eat something (piece of cheese, salted cucumber e.t.c.) after each glass (shot) of vodka =))))
+Vic Vlasenko Salted Cucumber? Had no idea that works :)
***** yep, that's russian tradition, helps not to get drunk fast and grants great hangover next morning =)
salted is good but saured is better for drinking vodka (saureing/salting is not what west nations do very often, but it is very popular amongs slavic nations, asians too, vegetable is made like pickled but you put it into salty water for several months instead of vinegar, look for details over net). One shot for every time you say "go ahead"? :P
Where can you buy these?
U1T1MATR1X eBay!
cheers!
have you ever see antacid tabs in rations
I haven't. Most of the time the acidity is pretty low or well balanced, but I have known some people that couldn't eat chocolate or tomato based sauce or they would get heartburn. This is something I'll look into. Cheers
Where do u buy mre or irp???
16:55 it says "Победа" which is Victory in Russian ;-)
thanks for sharing ) buckweed i love
expires in 2 years?
Yes, it would fight ya every step of the way after 5 shots of Vodka lol
Never seen this review damn straight starting out with five shots of vodka who rah
That was pretty freakin stupid to do on an empty stomach. Sure made the first segment "interesting" to film.
I'm not Russian so I'm not bias but I do believe Russians MRE are the best at least for my test I would love to eat everything in it greetings from sLOVEnija
You should have tried vodka with pork fat but it is suppose to be really cold, both vodka and fat!
Actually the fat is best when eaten cold, _really_ cold. Put that sumbitch on some black bread and green onion and you get a tasty snack.
Is that IRP really that bad that you have to have 5 shot of Vodka before having it???
+Vostadues Not really as it's the 4th review. They eating and drinking were filmed on separate days...it's right there in the description box
Chill out mate, I was just joking about those vodka shots :P You know how much ex-soldiers use to complaint about their MREs taste like cardboard :D
Ive always kind of enjoyed my vodka at a slightly warmer temp than just ice cold. That's just me though.
With me it really depends how much I've had....the more, the less I seem to care HAHA
@@gundog4314 haha. I can agree with you on that detail! But, when I'm trying to be fancy, I like it slightly warmed lol.
your vodka should be drunk straight out of the freezer totaly different taste
+Jock Wood
I would have thought that 5 shots of sub-zero vodka in quick succession would give you the worst case of brain freeze ever.

Do you think that Russians have better rations than US ? Or it's other way around?
Which one would you choose, if you could?
+Radimkiller It's a trade off. Russian stuff is packed with natural preservative (grease, fat, oil) and has a shelf life of only 2 years before it starts degrading.
