October 2023 Note: An earlier version of this video included sublimating on plain white HTV or adhesive vinyl. Sadly, my plain white vinyl sublimation projects have faded and blurred over time. I don’t recommend that method and have edited this video. I’m testing options for the best long-term results and will share the results once I’m confident. Thank you to crafters who shared their findings to help out our community!
Sublimation on glass?! You might be thinking, “Jennifer, you can’t sublimate on glass!” And that’s absolutely correct! But where there's a will, there's a way, and I'll never pass up the opportunity to test the bounds of materials and tools for the sake of creating. Basically...if they tell me I can't, I find a way! I made some amazing, next level images with AI art generators that were just begging to become stained glass windows! But how? I set out to learn how to sublimate a glass cutting board and pick the best techniques to share! We'll test sublimation blanks and dollar store glass cutting boards with a variety of hacks to see what works the best in this video.

@@JenniferMaker Hi Jen. On an unrelated note. How do I design a heart or circle on design space and just leave the outer line and remove the inside? Then if i put another design in the circle but it's a different color can I attach them? Thank you! What's the easiest method to do then use the Cricut. Thank you!

This is a great project, thank you for sharing. I am really having trouble getting my colors intense enough on the glass. Even at 90 seconds, there does not seem to be ink much left on the paper, but the mid tones are pretty lost to be a suncatcher. Against white it is not bad, but near invisable (maybe a little exageration) against the light.
Don't forget to rotate the press 90°. You can also press for longer if needed. 😊🌻

it came at the time when I was feverishly trying to think of good gifts for a few friends -
I do have a question though - if the sublimation happens on the "back end" of the glass why can it not be used as a cutting board to prepare food as the food will be on the right side up?
So long as you’re keeping the food on the side that is glass only. Just be aware that if you make a sublimation cutting board with one of the hacks (vinyl or laminate) it may not be dishwasher safe.

WOW... These are just gorgeous! I have a cricut joy n Maker 3 . But I live in a cave with an atena...so I'm still trying to figure out how to do basic cutting and writing. Just got a computer, as my parrots destroyed our last one! 😣 I hope I can do this, one day soon. I will be going to dollar tree. I've made actually stain glass before. They're over my kitchen and bedroom window. I hated the process. Well...🤞 Thanks for sharing. Wish me luck... I'll be putting on my aluminum foil helmet ( while I'm in my cave.) 😜

If i wanted to sublimate on 100% cotton, are you saying that adhesive vinyl doesn't work? What about the clear dye aublimation heat transfer...I am really new to this

I tried the laminate method on a round Dollar Tree cutting board. I did the laminate for the 60 seconds as suggested with my Easy Press and added another 30 secs to the sublimation time (so 90 secs) because it looked like it needed it. I was pretty successful! The only thing I would do differently would be to use my Easy Press to go around the edges for some additional time. The edges in 2 places are light. I think the cutting boards may not be perfectly level so the edges may not get an even press like the middle does. Other than that I'm calling it a 2-thumbs up! Thanks Jennifer!
