  • Isn't it great when a car turns up for auction in the exact trim/engine combination you've been longing to try, along with a very "individual" interior as an added bonus. Here's my thoughts on the Phase 2 Alfa Romeo 147, which didn't stay in stock for long, and thankfully went to a customer with a history of Alfa Romeo love. A happy ending!

Great car, so much more interesting than most of its competition. The interior looks fantastic and unmarked! Not surprised it sold quickly.

Amazing bro. I bought a Black 147 out 2008. Red from inside now. Also 2.0 Engine. Love it ❤
Be careful. This car is a bit rare and a 2.0 goodlooking lovey one like will be rare 🍀🇮🇹

That interior is spot on! I have 04' JTD 1.9 8v, chipped on aroud 150+bhp, with black full leather like new in superb condition like this 2.0TS. Fantastic car, with double wisbone it makes it a great daily car. I got it from italy(no salt)...yeah it's hard to get a decent one...but after 30+ alfas seen you get it :)

"why the hell would you buy the Diesel one" - the JTDm is actually a fantastic package if you haven't tried it, used to have a twin spark which is good in it's own right but it would be hard to go back from the extra punch and frugality of the turbo diesel.. if you can put up with the sound! But I have a busso 156 to cover that base ;) nice car!

Far too nose heavy and rubber band style low profile tyres make for a crappy drive. Not so with the Twinspark.

    • @92Aaront
      @92Aaront 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@greengrass9572 sure when you're pushing to the limit but how often do we do that to our daily driver which is what the 147 is. I've had both long term and it's a no brainer. The twin spark was horrendous on fuel and gutless. The 5 spark is a lot crunchier and less durable than the 6 speed you get in the JTDm/V6. My mapped JTDm uses literally half the fuel and the acceleration never leaves you wanting. Don't miss topping the oil up every 5 seconds either and 3 year timing belts / balance belts / varistors... - maintaining a twin spark is a PITA. Here in Australia they are priced the same too, one of the underground gems of the market.

@@92Aaront if you like understeer, chassis flex and want all your power delivered in one big but short lump of torque then get the diesel.
The TS isn't gutless when correctly maintained 0-60 8 seconds isn't gutless. It doesn't sound like a tractor either , glorious actually all the way to the red line with the handling to match. If you're worried about fuel then get a sensible daily that gives more mpg than the jtd.

@@92Aaront any daily driver of mine has to be able to behave on the limits heh Honestly the diesel ones are quite quick if its the JTDm but the TS is so much more fun to drive around
granted , parts and maintaining a TS is way harder.

Stumbled across your channel - assume you are based somewhere in N Ireland. I live in Florida but I also have a home in NI too - complete with a 2005 147 Lusso 1.6TS. Regrettably black over black leather only! That interior would look awesome in mine!

Another fantastic video. Always wanted an Alfa but my mechanical skills and lack of tools kinda always put me off. I would have that though. Keep up the excellent work with your content.

Avoid the bigger engines, on diesel, stay away from 2.4 (156 and 159) and for gasoline, avoid the 2.2 TS and 3.0 busso (unless you really want the busso and manage to actually find one)

I have a 147 1.6 Lusso, great car, looking for a 2.0 Lusso to partner it, I love these things they're great little cars and they're pittance to buy these days, might even get the Ducati Corse Q2 too.. I'd love the GTA but that's going to take a bit of saving :)

I've still got my 147. In Australia we had slightly different features. Unfortunately mine needs new suspension work done to it plus the remote key doesn't work. Also interior is starting to fall apart due to our heat I think... But otherwise I love the car... Though it won't get used much anymore.

For that interior and the engine you can forgive it almost anything. What character it has compared to it’s period contemporaries.

Even compared to current cars, this and the 159 remain ones of the best looking cars ever, cars are now all copy cats of each other. Just look at the Clio 4, I know it's not a car for car guys but it came out in 2012 and it's a cheap copy of the 147 exterior. Even though they copied EVERYTHING, the nose, the lights, break lights, back door handles, it still looks like a melted piece of cheese and drives like teflon tape.

"Why the hell would you buy a diesel one"... well... more power, more torque, the JTDm engine is just fantastic, I wouldn't recomment the 170hp version but the 150hp version is probably the most reliable diesel alfa romeo that exists.
The 147 with JTDm 150hp and the 156 with the TS 130hp are the most reliable Alfa's out there, you can even compare the 156 to a corolla of the same era, they just keep going no matter the miliage.

I couldn't imagine buying an Alfa Romeo with a tractor engine in it, has to be a revvy petrol engine.

    • @-na-nomad6247
      @-na-nomad6247 ปีที่แล้ว

@@thebarront9889 true that the revs are a bit slow until you reach around 1800rpm then it flies up, it is however a matter of economics, TS or even the busso are lots of fun, they just burn a hole in your pocket faster than a lit cigar.

@@-na-nomad6247 I've had four 147's and now got a 146 1.8 T Spark IE, I've had 14,000 miles out of the car in just six months it's a bulletproof engine, one thing I'd never worry about on a Twin Spark is the engine, the cabin comfort on the 146 isn't as good as the 147 and while the 146 handles better than I thought it would the 147 beats everything. The 147's I had always needed wishbones, wheel bearings, either floor rust or sill rust and I know rust killed a lot of 145/146 but mine is solid underneath.
