She really was the female Heifetz. The precision of the playing, the incredible perfection of the octaves, the interplay between the voices. She was one of the truly greats. R.I.P. Ms Haendel.
Ida Haendel is the perfect professional violinist. She can make one burst into tears to the sound of her perfect notes. We all appreciate her dedication to a lifetime of real classical music. I love her for her music and for the dignified way in which she carried herself throughout her entire classical music career. Thank you, Ida!
Decker was conductor of the Montreal Symphony at that time, so I guess the name Radio orchestra was chosen for convenience. The orchestral playing is kind of rough, but the soloist is wonderful. Ida Haendel was a great artist.
At her time, few women played the violin well. Today the technical gap between men and women in the field of music has been overcome. The recording audio is really disappointing
I actually feel the opposite. As record companies have focused more on sex, women violinists have become disposable and rarely develop artistically before being dropped for being too old. Look at how Joshua Bell is still considered young, but Midori and Hillary Hahn (10 and 4 years younger than him) are treated like they're getting old already somehow. There are a few exceptions of course, Ann-Sophie Mutter has had a long carrier. Many less known women are great violinists, but women who win major competitions are still rarely picked up by big recording companies except in Japan and Korea and those rarely come to the US or Europe.
I don't doubt the sexism that exists in the classical world, but I would hardly say Hilary is being treated as old. I saw her last November on her Bach tour in Toronto. It was a rapturous concert in a completely sold-out house, filled with most professional and aspiring violinists in the city. If anything, her legendary playing is becoming more apparent than ever. NYT did a fantastic article about this last year. Midori, from what I understand, got overwhelmed from her youthful fame, so she takes it easy now on her own terms. That said, Joshua Bell certainly has lots of "mainstream" awareness that perhaps the others don't.
Focusing in these superficial issues blinds your life. Do you care whether Brahms was male or female? What a pointless discussion! Ida does not represent a collective called "women". Please stop these statements that only contributes to tear up our society.
The trend has been totally reversed; today's female violinists are in general better than male violinists; Jansen, Fischer, Shoji, Steinbacher to name a few are better than Bell imho, thanks to pioneers like Ida to make it all possible.
it’s very hard for a violinist to confront these misogynist and narcissistic conductors. Ida had a lot of love and patience in addition to being a very famous violinist. RIP

A life dedicated to music. Thank you, great violinist Ida Haendel. 🎻✨

She's better than Heifetz imo
Yes
@@shy.kumquat She herself said that she regarded Heifetz as the greatest of all time.
What? Rest in peace? Ida Haendel will never die! She'll forever be alive!!!
The crazy amount of in tune those first octaves were is some of the best I’ve seen. Rip
@Violin Accordion Thank you. I did not know that. Very interesting way of playing octaves. Perhaps that is what gave her tone such depth.
Vivat for Mrs Ida Haendel !

The First Violin Concerto I ever fell in love with..x
Such an awesome player. I love her focus and intensity-- and extra kudos for being a female virtuoso when that was basically unheard of.
Ida was one of the first violinists I listened to in particular the tchaicovsky violin concerto which inspired me and my dreams! May she rest in peace
That seamless bow change at the frog at 33:23.
I love her Brahms. What a loss. 🎻😢
我覺得她是一位非常用心的演奏者。可以說是每個音符、每個音程都把其本身的音樂之美都呈現出來,所以聽起來格外豐富動聽。能聽到她的演奏錄影,有幸。
I've just read that she passed away :'( this year is very sad. But she'll continue playing in another dimension ❤️
Her music will continue playing on my phone 🥰

Bellissimo!,
