Cracking the Code - the Story of Macquarie Perch

We're doing everything we can to ‘crack the code’ for Macquarie perch, fondly known as 'Maccas'.
In late 2021, adult Macquarie perch took a chopper ride from Lake Dartmouth to our Snobs Creek hatchery where they helped breed more than 145,000 fingerlings.
Those offspring were stocked safe and sound into six waterways earlier this year, including bushfire affected rivers such as the Cudgewa Creek, King River and Buffalo River.
This project was supported by the Australian Government’s Bushfire Recovery Program for Wildlife and their Habitat, your fishing licence fees, DELWP, and the State Government’s Go Fishing Victoria plan.
