Maybe the Rylah Institute guys and Vic Fisheries should get up to Lake Dartmouth right now - just after Xmas 2022. The Euro carp biomass in the water is just incredible. You can literally walk on them. It will soon be the carp capital in Victoria. As for the trout, last one stocked was 2020? 2018? Surely not. What about going back to 2010? According to the Vic Fisheries website, no trout stocked there between 2010-22. That's the way to look after a fishery, isn't it? And how many macka fingerlings are coming back?
Does it hurt them? Well, they are not that smart. But they make up for 80+% of the biomass in the waterways they inhabit. And not just here in Oz. You've got to kill them with a brain shot to do it humanely. Otherwise, they gasp on the bank for hours. Good yabby bait though!

Yes, terms like "you can walk on them" is somewhat instructive about character when a person derides the use of the term. Is that you? DADS? I think so.
