💟 I was barmaid on the Coonawarra in 1980- 1981 !! I had a wonderful time travelling Murray Bridge to Morgan & return each week, serving tourists from all over the world. I used to get my guitar out around a campfire on the tiverbank at Morgan Wednesday night and add a bit of cheer to the passengers. Those were good times !! Great crew too !!
I seriously wanted to switch to deckhand and work my way through the ranks up to captain but noooo... women were denied that opportunity. 🙁
That wouldnt happen these days, thanks to all the hard work of feminists- striving for basic equality !!

    Awesome doco.
I grew up in Echuca and Melbourne as a kid and still do these days.
When I was about 11 or 12 the captain of the steamer pevensey let me have a steer as we were going down the river, I’ll never forget that, it was awesome.
    Love that river.

I really enjoyed this film. As a QLD'R these boats are a novelty to us. Although there are 2 now in Longreach, one having recently sunk. I believe It came from Victoria.

Have enjoyed watching all these videos of all these paddle steamers - you must come over to Scotland & enjoy a sail on PS Waverley a paddle steamer from way back & sails from Glasgow during the summer months, I've saild on this grand old steamer & have thurly enjoyed it, & I'm sure you will as well.
