  • G'Day Folks. Was lucky enough to see the Aussie native Jade Perch spawning procedure thanks to ‪@jadeperchman‬ & the AusyFish hatchery.
    In the video we also follow how our aquaponics fish are raised all the way through until they're shipped out from the hatchery.
    B and I hope to make it back up there sometime this year with better audio equipment to film a propper chat with Bruce.

      That was some old footage from Bruce's channel. The drought has knocked them around like most farmers. Has gotten better since we visited in November though. 👍

    Great video as always Rob ,my neighbour put me on to the perch man just before Christmas he is an old study mate of his they use to go out and collect fish and plants from around australia , their both interesting men to talk to .👍

    I'm taking the Prawn approach to Aquaponics. That's my plan anyway. My bream are place holders untill I've finessed all the issues.

      @@RobsAquaponics I've solved everything so far, and plan to get my prawn in march or April.. Its the Rosenbergi, river prawn.. if I spelled it right. I think I have it worked out.
      I'm currently breeding mollies in an Arctic vortex so, I'm hopeful.

    Clove Oil in the water is used to relax the fish for inspection. Synthetic hormones are injected to make them spawn. 😳

      I don't sorry Michael as I prefer to only do videos on things I have built or operated. Our solar is a back to grid one so have not really felt the need to set up a stand-alone solar-run system yet.
      I have had a lot of folks enquire so am thinking about setting up a small chop & flip system powered by solar & batteries in the near future.

      Bruce will only export commercial quantities. I think the minimum order is AU$3000 + freight & local taxes.
      From memory he has already sent some over but that was for a farm. If you do a search there maybe some one selling in one of the warmer states down south.

      I just need a guesstimate of how much money I would need and I will go out and round it up because I will get more people who want Jade Purch here in the states….

      we can do a pallet sized order or something
      I need to know what will be the cost effective,& easiest to send and then …& I will round up-that amount
