Are you in braces treatment? This is a Fast appointment putting a Rapid Palatal Expander and a Lower expander
What does a rapid palatal expander do?
Upper jaw expansion is a form of orthodontic treatment that is used in specific cases. By widening the circumference of the palate, the perimeter of the dental arch increases to create more space for teeth growth.
How long does a rapid palatal expander stay in?
Typically, an expander will be in place for about 9 months total time. This may vary from child to child depending on his or her needs.
Will it Hurt? There will be some discomfort at first, but there will not be a lot of pain. The expander may feel heavy in your mouth at first, since it is something new and different in there. When the palate expander is widened, you may feel some pressure in your mouth and on your tongue
What is a lower expander?
Like its counterpart, the palatal expander, a lower expander is used to gradually widen the lower teeth to correct servere crowding before all of the permanent teeth have erupted. Some signs that your child might require a lower expander are that: There isn't enough space for all of the lower teeth, causing crowding.

The things that are necessary for a great smile are totally worth it in the end. Helps when you have a great dentist/orthodontist etc.

@@Melaniasanonymo The honest answer is that braces do not hurt at all when they are applied to the teeth, so there is no reason to be anxious about the placement appointment. There will be mild soreness or discomfort after the orthodontic wire is engaged into the newly placed brackets, which may last for a few days to a week.

Yess! Ive had mine for a couple months so im about use to it in my mouth. But those first few day were soo miserable! I went at least 36 hours without eating…and it wasnt because I wasnt hungry!! Were talking food stuck at the top of your mouth, your tounge cant catch it, twisting, locking and, keying every day. Gosh that was miserable! 🤦♀️

Two bands are cemented onto the last upper molars and connected by a metal screw that gets turned regularly to expand the appliance.

I did the expander thing before, but only on my upper jaw, and it’s painful enough. But this gal, she got expander for both her upper and lower jaw, imagine how painful it’s going to be

I have a palate xpander, don’t worry it won’t hurt. But when you do the turns and it’s like the 8th day of doing the turns your head will hurt while the turn is happening. Don’t worry it’ll all be worth it

This actually isnt a pallate expander, u had it its called the mara and its used to fix bad overbites without headgear. I had it for almost a year and it clicked everytime i opened and closed mh mouth. It was also super hard to eat lol

I recently got my expander out my life dreams have come true
It hurts so badly- I just got mine today and I’m in so much pain
I thought i was the only one with braces and expanders! except that mine was only four brackets

I have one,the first week eating is nearly impossible, the first 2 days i couldn't even swallow my saliva cause my tongue wasn't used to touching the expander , it was 4 months since i got and it's completely normal now

Hey when i bite down my back molar makes a clicking noise what should i do? I have an lingual space maintaner so when i got it the dentist made me bite down a bite stick which my molars were painful later that night can u give me some tips to reduce the clicking noise ?
