It's always amazed me there's a glue that is strong enough to stay in a wet mouth that changes temperature with hot or cold foods and still holds for years on end. I had braces for two years when I was 10 and 11, many, many moons ago.

I got my braces off a few hours ago and it wasn’t bad at all! Before the appointment I was super nervous about the drill to take the glue off, but it didn’t hurt and it took 2 minutes. However, if you have sensitive teeth to the cold then I recommend asking your dentist to not use the suction because that blows cold air in your mouth. Overall, this process is super easy and quick and my teeth feel great!

I’m getting mine take off tomorrow and I’m so excited! I’ve had braces for 2 years now and I want to see my smile! I didn’t really mind having braces cause they felt normal and I was able to go without breaking a single bracket! @@vMonark No, it didn't change my face at all, just my smile and that too for the better! Your features will not change unless the ortho tells you otherwise. You can ofc ask your ortho about this, but for me my face has not changed!

@chuuchuu yeah it also happened to me when I first got my braces, lol. I recommend eating cold food like ice cream, ice lollies etc. it really helped ease the pain when I first got my braces.
I had mine removed today and when they removed it , it felt weird at first but then it felt amazing not wearing braces 😋
I just got mine on (Only the top teeth for right now) 2 days ago, and I'm sad that I won't be able to eat chips or anything like that.

I had Invisalign June 28th 2016-November 29th 2018. Switched orthodontist. I had ceramic braces December 5th 2018-March 9th 2020. Lost my retainer in July 2020. Got a frenectomy in April 2021. Got Invisalign for the second and final time March 28th 2022-June 9th 2022. I made the mistake of not purchasing the unlimited retainer package when I got my ceramic braces off. I made sure I did that this time. I’m so happy
I put my braces yesterday..and it's really painful not during the process but afterwards...it's not been even 24 hrs and i have started imaging the day when I'll get it off!!

Yeah I know what orthodontists do. I was going to get braces but I changed my mind because I hate the idea of wearing retainers for your whole life after braces just to keep your teeth straight because I've heard teeth will shift back to how they used to look if you stop wearing retainers even if it's worth it I still hate hearing how that sounds.

I am on my fourth journey of braces, first time was in 1985 with extra oral too, then two other attempts that flopped.
Now I am wearing them again with another orthodontist, and I use Roth prescription. Now I study my case and discuss with my dentist 🤣
There will be a long journey...around two and half years, they didn't use 3x3 retainers, my first dentist didn't clean the resin, was a mess, so glad that now I have more technology, springs, mini implants and a great professional.

@@Chad-pi5if I was in my late 20s when I had them but it didn’t affect my gums it does put pressure on your gums when they tighten the braces they do that every 6 weeks you must come to every appointment to get your braces off faster
@@asanteimanii2125 yes last week i got my braces. Did you feel any difference in the gum line after getting the braces or after everytime you got the new wire? Like i feel my gum got a little thicker maybe because it is changing the tooth alignment. It feels scary sometimes

They have no idea when mine are coming off and I’m sad 😭💔 but I haven’t had them long. Only 7 months but they say my teeth have moved much faster than they expected (no pain meds ever and wearing those rubberbands like CRAZY I assume)

I'm getting my braces off next week and this made me terrified of bleeding but then I remembered all the terrible things I had to go through at the dentist with needles being poked into my gums and holes being drilled I realize that bleeding really is not that deep
Hi my friend and usually when the "mouth" is bleeding, it's basically the gums that are bleeding and it's because of the Gingivitis ( Gingivitis is the earliest stage of gum disease. It happens when plaque and bacteria build up on your teeth and cause infection. Common symptoms include red, swollen, bleeding gums. Treatments include regular dental cleanings and improved oral hygiene at home between visits.) and that's the real reason and more than pain it's a sign of your body telling you something is not right! I had orthodontic plates for 4 years then braces for two and a half years. All this when I was 14, 15, 16. Needless to say, no boys were interested in me. Quite psychologically damaging for a young teen when all her friends were going on dates etc. Now 20 years later, my bottom teeth moved back to the position they were before braces. Oh well.

Make sure you tell your orthodontist to remove all the glue from the front and back of your teeth! I didn’t think twice about it, I was just happy to get them off. Mine didn’t do a very thorough job and 8 years later I still have yellowish glue stuck on both sides of some of my teeth, and am paying to get them filed off 🙃

my anxious self made me panic during half of the procedure so at the end it seemed like i didnt enjoy the result because i was still panicking on the inside although i really liked my teeth and was grateful for the hard work they did for me. i still think about that sometimes, hope i didnt come off as rude :( i hate my minor panic attacks so much

yesterday i finally put the braces and i'm 24, its a dream of a lifetime. for the moment it is very painful but i am really happy and grateful to be able to have a beautiful smile in the future.
Got mines off today :)) tbh taking them off was really hurtful, not only “feeling sore” but more real pain because the glue was very hard. Retainers still feel very weird and the food keeps getting stuck in them. Not sure how to feel about having the braces off

I remember getting my braces off and how weird my teeth felt, and wearing my retainers 24/7 I talked funny for awhile till I got use to the retainers

Back in 1977 as a 9 y/o kid my teeth had a lot of issues. Had an overbite, two front upper teeth overlapped, had one tooth randomly growing from upper gums, an overcrowded mouth - had to have 4 teeth extracted even before braces were put on.
Wore braces, rubber bands and that gosh-awful neck and headgear from age 9 until 13. Of course, retainers afterwards.
I can still remember how happy I was to get my braces off - my teeth felt so slick and smooth 😁✌🏽😎

I got braces when I was in middle school. I had them on for a little less than a year when at an appointment my dentist asked me if I mind them taking the braces off. In my mind I was a bit confused because my front teeth weren't completely straight yet but I was too shy to say anything against them so I agreed. I'm 20 now and really frustrated about my teeth and the way they asked me. They didn't ask me if I was happy w how my teeth looked like at first. I'm also a dental hygienist student at the moment and I can't afford to straighten my teeth again yet. I'm so mad they couldn't finish it well 'cause I wouldn't propably need to wear retainers after as opposed to straightening my teeth later in life.
I need braces really bad.. i wish i feel the same happiness one day

Hi my friend and I understand your comment but the gums bleeding in this case it's because of the Gingivitis! Sometimes when you have braces for a long time and not a super good dental hygiene... Gingivitis means inflammation of the gums, or gingiva. It commonly occurs because a film of plaque, or bacteria, accumulates on the teeth. Gingivitis is a non-destructive type of periodontal disease, but untreated gingivitis can progress to periodontitis. This is more serious and can eventually lead to loss of teeth. I got my braces off nearly a year or 2 ago (I can't remeber) but when they were taking mine off, I couldn't stop crying. My mum wasn't allowed in the room due to covid and I hated the noise/cracking sound. The "pressure" also felt like my teeth were trying to be ripped out. Other than the checkups, whenever I was having something done to my teeth relating to my braces, I think I can say that it is some of the worst experiences Ive had in my life!!

I dream of this day!! The main reason why I want it to be done is to feel like I can FINALLY brush freely my teeth, I HATE those tiny brushes to brush my teeth lmao. I hope, in 3 months or so, my braces will be removed!!

That probably wasn’t painful, it was more than likely just because there was tools in her mouth and if you think about it, probably also because she just got her braces off and the metal band things on her back teeth are poking a bit into her gums

I can almost always see a tilt in the bottom teeth for people who had an overbite. It's like they just got the bottom teeth forward to match up, not pull the jaw forward

I’m having mine off in two days and I’m really worried because the dentist said there’s nothing more they can do to fix my teeth. But what if I still have an ugly smile. It took me 3 years to get used to my braces smile.

does the glue removal hurt? i recently had a bracket come off and they had to scrape the glue off but will they do they for when i get my whole braces removed bc it hurt sooo bad

That's nice. My braces journey is not easy too. Just to prep for my damon braces, I had 8 teeth removed (4 premolars & 4 wisdom teeth, with 1 wisdom tooth removal via surgery). Then I have 2 anchorage screws on top to help with bringing in my bad protrusion. With all the powerchains & elastic bands to fix my badly misaligned teeth that caused my asymmetrical facial profile. It has only now reached 1 year of braces. Still have another plus-minus 1 year😭 Really hope it's all worth it like this.

Yeah I remember when my braces were removed. It was in October 2023. Literally everyone I know in college knew what was different about me when I showed them my teeth.

Just want to share, as per my dentist, you are only supposed to have braces for 2 years unless you have complicated dental issue. Please follow your dentist's advice.
You will be required to wear retainers the same duration you had braces PLUS 2 YEARS. Meaning if you wore braces for 2 years, then you would need to wear retainers for 4 years. I had mine way loooonger than than and now I regret it. Depends on the dentist maybe, this is what my dentist told me. I honestly just want to use electric toothbrush and floss thorougly Lmao
