Glad you enjoyed it. I’ve got many more videos in the back catalogue if you want to grab another mug of coffee and watch some more. Thanks for watching!
Excellent video, thanks for doing this. I've ridden between Bridgnorth and Hartlebury using sections of the route on road bike but you've inspired me to look into doing the entire route from Shrewsbury - my 90s rigid mountain bike would be ideal. Plenty of opportunities for a mug of tea en-route 😁👍.
Yep plenty of places to stop for a good mug of your favourite beverage. A 90,s MTB would do the job nicely for this route with the right tyres. Thanks for watching!
I like your friendly presentation and your thoroughness in depicting the routes, well done for that. I used in the heady days when Sustrans routes were a new thing, to support them and try to plan holidays around their routes, but, after a few experiences I was disillusioned and made my own routes using OS maps and, if needed, main roads. Sustrans were a great organisation at the time, and much good was done, but anyone telling you there is a National Cycle Network in this country is making a Mug of you. I have 2 NCN routes where I live, but they're only signs on posts on existing dangerous roads, not one piece of infrastructure. Netherlands, now they have a national route network to boast of, we can only dream. Keep up the good work though, very enjoyable films.
Thank you, glad your enjoying the videos. I find vast differences in the network which I believe comes down to local councils and there various different levels of caring. We need a centralised system with national standards to stop us getting mugged off. Thanks for watching!
Mug. Great to be one of the new subscribers. Great details in your videos very informative and inspiring for me to get out on my bike. I have been going through your older video's that are mostly around my local area so plenty of miles for me to be getting on with. Best Wishes to you and please keep the video's coming. AL
Interesting video, shows some good aspects of National Cycle routes. I hope the Mug on offer holds a good amount of tea, can't be doing with a tiny Mug. Going to watch the Birmingham to Shrewsbury video next.
Thanks for another great and very informative video, I aim to try and make Bridgnorth from Shrewsbury sometime soon, although would love to try this whole route one day! I'd also like to mention that I've followed the SVR line down as far as Shienton using the A458 and the old trackbed is mostly intact, a couple of bridges have lost their spans, but wouldn't it be amazing if it could be repurposed like the part in Shrewsbury into a cycle track down into Buildwas. The old SVR cycle path in Shrewsbury is great fun to ride, I've been known to let out a 'Choo Choo' as I pass under the surviving bridge :)
I love riding on old railways and it would be amazing to have this line made into one. With the redevelopment of the power station site I’m hoping we can at least get an extension of what we have from Ironbridge to Buildwas. Thanks for watching!
Been looking forward to this one. Quite a few familiar places. You've given me an idea for my next adventure, out from Bromsgrove to Telford then back on the SVR to Kiddy. I did wonder why people were calling you a mug in the comments 😆
As a local Cycling mug to the area I found this route interesting. Well I do the last sections of it once or twice a Week . The bit from Shrewsbury to Ironbridge I have not tried. May give it a go if i can get up to Shrewsbury with the bike on the train or something. Yes a cross bike or MTB with a light file tread should do it well.
For the part between Ironbridge and Bridgnorth is my favourite, so nice to be able to ride on the old track bed but you would be a mug to not give the Shrewsbury to Ironbridge section a go. Thanks for watching!
I ride that route 45 with my mountain biking buddy Mark, we set off from Wolverhampton out through Pattingham, Sutton Madock down into Ironbridge then to Bridgnorth for a we'll deserved MUG of coffee at greggs in high town then back through Claverley home to Wolverhampton 46 miles on a good day 😊
I think the stretch between Ironbridge and Bridgnorth is my favourite part of that ride, and Bridgnorth is a great pace to grab a mug of coffee. The lanes around pattingham are make for lovely riding. Thanks for watching!
Tricky one but I think I would go for the road bike, will be a bit bumpy on some of the gravel sections but worth it for the long sections of road and tarmac. Thanks for watching!
Glad you enjoyed it. Definitely would recommend a gravel bike for this one, the stretch between Ironbridge and Bridgnorth is particularly bumpy. Thanks for watching!
The barriers. I am reminded of a youtube vlog by an italian visitor who, having crossed the continent, on attempting to use the muddy footpath that is satirically named "National Cycle Network 1" from Dover to London, comments in Italian to her italophone audience "this is a country that really hates cyclists". The railways v. greenway dilemma: no dilemma at all. Constructing both would be a fraction of the public expenditure associated with our national car addiction.
I would understand a little more if the barriers did a Job, but with modern day electric motor bikes, these barriers are useless and only restrict the less able. I often wonder why public opinion seems to be so against spending on infrastructure that is not roads, and as you say particularly cycle infrastructure that is so relatively cheap. Thanks for watching!
@@cyclingn8 not taking twitter or tax exile owned newspapers to represent public opinion, I would be interested to know of any reputable opinion research in this matter, although as far as reputable opinion research goes, Sir Humphrey's remarks on polling around National Service apply. Outside opinion, an argument deployed is that bicycles are leisure (to which any good protestant must be opposed) whereas motor vehicles transport (and so part of the war effort, like queues at Dover). A claim that isn't based in any survey of how people actually use cars or bicycles, but which is in some measure self reinforcing. Grandmothers can't use bicycles for transport if you put an obstacle course in their way and force them to mix it with lorries to make any progress.
It follows national cycle network route 45 which mostly uses quiet lanes and traffic free routes, with the occasional bit of B road linking them. It’s honestly a lovely route, thanks for watching!
I'd be a mug not to ride this route very soon. Many thanks for such a clear exposition.
You would indeed be a mug to miss this one. Thanks for watching!
Very informative and I am looking forward to so the route too. Have already done parts of it. Thanks for the history.
Glad you liked the video and hope you get out on the route soon, lots of enjoyable riding and history along the way. Thanks for watching!
Coalport to Bridgnorth requires an iron butt. Really enjoyed this thanks

Glad you enjoyed it. I’ve got many more videos in the back catalogue if you want to grab another mug of coffee and watch some more. Thanks for watching!
Definitely going to use this route to meet the good lady at her mum’s in Stourport. I’ll finish with a good MUG of tea!!
Don’t let the hills mug you off, it’s an enjoyable ride. Thanks for watching!
I love your videos, local to me in Church Stretton. All that's missing at the moment is a MUG of coffee.
Can’t beat a mug of coffee, glad your enjoying the videos. Thanks for watching!
Excellent, I may give this a try.
Definitely give it a go, lovely ride with loads of history. Thanks for watching!

That's a nice Mug, England sure has lots of great rail trails.
Yep nice we can use the old tracks for something. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for another good video, always on the look out for new traffic free routes in the area. Mug.
Glad you enjoyed it, traffic free routes are definitely the best part of the route! Thanks for watching!

Mug mug mug. Really enjoyed the video (and the route). Cheers
Glad you enjoyed it and I’m not a mug for making it. Thanks for watching!

I’m getting mugged off in the comments in this one. Glad the video has given you some inspiration, thanks for watching!

Looks a cracking route if a bit fiddly in places, gpx file needed I think!
It can be difficult to follow at times as the route signs aren’t great in places. Link to the route is in the description. Thanks for watching!
Nice bell ....
Well thank you 🙏 thanks for watching!

Free hug, why not, free mug, even better!
Free is always good! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for this. Will take a train from Worcester to Shrooosbury and cycle back via Hartlebury on this route....question is XC hardtail or road bike 🤔
Tricky one but I think I would go for the road bike, will be a bit bumpy on some of the gravel sections but worth it for the long sections of road and tarmac. Thanks for watching!
Where can you get the map from 35.09 please
You can find it here

Great video, would you recommend an endurance bike or a gravel bike for this route?
Glad you enjoyed it. Definitely would recommend a gravel bike for this one, the stretch between Ironbridge and Bridgnorth is particularly bumpy. Thanks for watching!

Most of ridee seems 2b on main roads depressing

Those bicycle bells are rubbish, pedestrians can’t hear them! You need a ratchet bell, you can sometimes buy them from the £1 shop.
I’ve never had an issue not being heard, slow down and a couple of dings of the bell does the job for me. Thanks for watching!
You're no mug! Pronounced Shrewsbury correctly.
You would be a mug to pronounce it Shrowsbury. Thanks for watching!
Congrats, you have won the mug! Please email me at cyclingn8@gmail.com with the address you would like the mug delivered to. Thanks for your support!
@cyclingn8 wow! Really chuffed with that, thanks and keep up the good work with your videos, really enjoyable.
