    even if i am using hikvision for 7 years now, never had a setup with nvr without poe ports, but today I had to set up one with poe switch, and I found this video confirming my theory about the architecture. thank you

    It is one of the clear and great explanation video. Instead of directly jumping into NVR ip range from laptop. You had clearly explained from laptop to camera first and from camera to NVR next. So I would assume now that the extra ip added in laptop is not required at the end?
    Also please tell me a if there is an video already for the router ip address range config already?

    Very usefull. One question. Can I use a different brand POE switch with my hikvision ip cameras. The guy at the shop told me is not a good idea. But, I see you are using a NETGEAR Switch and a hikvision ip camera. Tell me please.

      PoE and PoE+ are universal Standards, of course you can use a different switch, they were not invented my Hikvision and there are still better brands out there manufacturing switches that meet the standards.

    Thank you very much! you deserve a subscribe and like..
    All this time when I see D2, D3, D4.. etc and I don't have the option to delete them, I never knew they were the ports that the NVR use as internal IPv4 addresses lol.. Thanks.

    • @bestsecuritydevices
      @bestsecuritydevices  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      4 cameras because that's the NVR interface limitation (It can display only 4 cameras).

    What is the benefit of connecting the camera directly to the switch or directly to a router v.s. the POE switch on the NVR? I am not understanding this.

    • @mojo3717
      @mojo3717 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If you connect to your router, you will have the option to also manage the camera / nvr from your laptop or pc. If you connect the camera to the NVR, it will only allow you to manage it from the NVR interface. Also, some Hikvision devices cannot be connected to the NVR directly and must be setup from your home network / pc.

    Thanks for the video! Question. Can I expand the number of cameras on a 4-channel Hikvision NVR by connecting 4 extra cameras using a PoE switch?

    • @bestsecuritydevices
      @bestsecuritydevices  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      No, a 4-channel NVR is limited to manage and record 4 cameras no matter what you do.

    Thanks for the great video. I have a question though. In SADP I see the camera online with an IP in a different range (as you stated). I add the IP in the correct range, but when I ping the camera I get a constant timeout.
    It is an older camera (DS-2CD2332-I), could it be a problem with the camera hardware?

    • @bestsecuritydevices
      @bestsecuritydevices  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I could be your Windows firewall blocking pings, I've seen that before. Make sure you have the camera and PC using the same IP range. e.g. PC: 192.168.0.1 Mask 255.255.255.0 and CAM: 192.168.0.2 Mask 255.255.255.0 and them disable the Windows firewall for a while before trying pinging the camera. You can also open a web browser and type the camera's IP to check if you get access to it.

    Thanks for the heads up! How to make that specific camera then recording to the nvr? Does it do that automatically once it is connected in the NVR settings? I have a similar setup. No camera is directly connected to the NVR. But none of the cameras are recording on the NVR... Can you help? thx!

    • @bestsecuritydevices
      @bestsecuritydevices  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You need.to configure he NVR to start recording continuoulsy or by event (motion detection for example). Enable motion detection on the cameras and the recording on the NVR.

    what is the benefit of using a Poe Switch instead of using everything on the NVR?

    • @bestsecuritydevices
      @bestsecuritydevices  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can connect the cameras to an existing switch which already have other devices such as computers in a school or something like that. It’s also possible to better distribute the cameras since you can have 100m from the NVR to the switch and another 100m from the switch to the camera (total 200m).

      You can use any switch you want, it's just a question of brand and features available.

    hi, thanks for your video. But i saw one of the point you were putting the camera password. what happened, if I don't know or forgot the password. I can't find any video that shows how to reset camera password for hikvision DS-2CD3345-I? can you please help?

    • @bestsecuritydevices
      @bestsecuritydevices  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You must know the camera’s password to be able to add it to the NVR. If you don’t, please contact the camera seller or Hikvision to help you to reset it, they will help you as long as the camera is an original Hikvision. Visit the Hikvision website and go to the support page

      @@bestsecuritydevices hi I have contacted hikision Australia and they asked for physical SNID and also the xml file for individual cameras which I did and they replied these cameras are not bought through authorised listed supplier, so they cannot support. I have informed client's IT department and they reset it from overseas and they provided me the code for individual password. Don't we need to import xml file to reet password? how I will apply the code?
