The fact is implied in the solution. Saying we need more emphasis on geography in our education system implies that there isn’t enough of an emphasis as it is. She answered the question, and gave a solution.

She was obviously nervous and stumbled. This woman is not stupid... she was able to give an answer that actually made sense. I'm sure if I were up in front of the world stage I would be freaked out AF and say thr same thing she did. C'mon ppl quit hating on her.
She rehearsed one, this interview is a charade to make her look better. She’s trying to become a functioning person, great. But to believe this interview is as dumb as her first answer.
Turns out she's actually quite an intelligent young lady! We all make mistakes. She just made hers in front of millions of people. It's a merciless world.
I think everyone's hating on her because she stands for everything that "politically correct" people are up against. Personally I think she's just a sweet girl. She was just really unlucky and happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. She did, of course, rehearse that answer but I still believe none of it it's her fault. She's not as dumb as everyone wants to say she is.
psych0deviant She's young blonde and has a strong southern accent. People are bound to discriminate against her. America is obsessed with ridding themselves of that stereotype.
Being in the wrong place at the wrong time is accidentally hanging in a bank as it's robbed or witnessing a murder. It's not giving a stupid answer to a simple question. Yes, I actually believe some people are biased against her. I'm one of them. But not because she's southern and blond. It's because she is part of a sexist, disgusting system in which if a girl can parade around in dresses and bikinis, it doesn't matter if she can have an educated conversation! No, no! Women are meant to look pretty and have kids. Yes, she's a sweet girl. Everyone makes mistakes, and her's was on live national television which majorly sucks. But people aren't going to be forgiving, myself included. Is it "politically correct" to want women to empower themselves?
This is one example of those girls that never had to exercise their knowledge or thinking power in their entire life because they've always been so good looking. It's ironic really, most of us have to worry about being adequate enough to perform our jobs or strive to achieve higher levels of our profession. But she will never have to worry about any of that. A guy with a good amount of money will swoop her up, and I mean I can't blame him, and she will never have to worry. It's almost tragic in a way....A human being cursed so much from being born so aesthetically perfect, that they will never know their true potential. This is some Greek Mythology shit...
Yes exactly she has got through her whole life on her looks and thats all she needed as society place so much value on her looks . Thats about all she brought to the table. but she probs has more networth from dating wealthy men then a regular person gets in a lifetime . pretty sad how the world works
The world is an unfair place. Don't like it, who you going to complain to? God? He probably would just tell you that everybody has different advantages and disadvantages. Some are good looking, some are smart, some are lucky, some have high levels of motivation and ambition, etc. It's up to you to make the most of what you have and not complain that you were born with a losing hand.
Does everybody forget that there are very hot SMART women too? Natalie Portman being one example. Uggos love believing that all attractive people are stupid it's the only way you sleep at night.
When she tried answering the question again, she started with "Personally..." which sounded similar to the original "I personally believe...". For a second I thought, "Oh not again." (She's super hot though.)
I love how all this time elapsed and she still didn't answer the question. The question wasn't how do we fix the not being able to locate america on a map situation, but why do you think Americans cant locate America on a map.
She got severely bullied and was tormented over this. So many of her friends even turned on her and it was a dark time for her. She even contemplated suicide over it. I’m glad the news reporters gave her support
So her answer is that if people don't know how to read maps, then you should teach them how to read maps. This insight will propel mankind to new heights of awareness.
The question was why can't most Americans locate the us on a world map. She could have asked them to repeat the question, but she didn't and answered wrong therefore embarrassing herself
I'm reading comments about how it was a dumb question or a terrible question. Personally I'm glad the question came up. This should be a wake up call people. Let's start taking an active interest in our educational system before it's too late.

*Woman:* A fifth of Americans can't locate the US on the map, why?.
*Miss Tard:* Because I personally believe that the Iraq and America should educate the America, oops sorry, I mean should educate the Iraq on South Africa America and the Iraq.
Such as
Host : "what are your plans what do you want to do ?
Upton : i wanna go to Africa and learn geography ! "
She could have just gave the answer, " HUH? " We would understand.
"Good girl you" that is creepy
She was obviously nervous and stumbled. This woman is not stupid... she was able to give an answer that actually made sense. I'm sure if I were up in front of the world stage I would be freaked out AF and say thr same thing she did. C'mon ppl quit hating on her.
She rehearsed one, this interview is a charade to make her look better. She’s trying to become a functioning person, great. But to believe this interview is as dumb as her first answer.
HAHAH, Is that really me? OH YES IT CERTAINLY IS YOU!
I love her second answer is almost as worst as the first one.
Turns out she's actually quite an intelligent young lady! We all make mistakes. She just made hers in front of millions of people. It's a merciless world.
Riiiiight
Erm.. No she isn't.
she can count!
Watch her interview with Mario, 14 years after the pageant- she sounds just as dumb.
Aghhh the stress, sometimes stress cuts of the thought process. I know I would lose my thought process if millions of people were watching me.
Yeah she's just some pretty model that passed high school purely on looks
Oliver Swenson can she even locate America on a map? does she even know what a map is?
Archie Burgess-Laing No she probably can't.
This is cringe-worthy at best. If she ever has children, they will be vegetables.
You said the same thing on the original video.
The Verbally Abusive Clown 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Attractive vegetables.
its scary really... this is america's "best"??
I found her IG. She has children now.
she was rehearsing her comeback for 7 weeks HAHAHAHAHAHA
This is one example of those girls that never had to exercise their knowledge or thinking power in their entire life because they've always been so good looking. It's ironic really, most of us have to worry about being adequate enough to perform our jobs or strive to achieve higher levels of our profession. But she will never have to worry about any of that. A guy with a good amount of money will swoop her up, and I mean I can't blame him, and she will never have to worry. It's almost tragic in a way....A human being cursed so much from being born so aesthetically perfect, that they will never know their true potential. This is some Greek Mythology shit...
how do you explain all the epicly stupid ungly girls/women?
For a second I thought, "Oh not again."
(She's super hot though.)
She's building up our future for the iraq and south africa and everywhere like such as
I love how all this time elapsed and she still didn't answer the question. The question wasn't how do we fix the not being able to locate america on a map situation, but why do you think Americans cant locate America on a map.
She did answer it. Not enough emphasis on geography
I think it's more embarrassing to be in a beauty pageant past the age of five!
lol
K Hungus Pageants aren't even meant for five-year-olds...?
fatxgoats must be in a pageant.
Well that's probably because you could never be in one.
3:43 uh yeah, right. Fast forward to present day and shes a real estate agent 😂
@@NickyKhilnani yeah basically. Real estate agents lie to everyone if it means getting a sale, or a tenant to sign a contract.
Appalachian State registry office collectively cringed @ 3:49 😂😂
we all make mistakes well done but stay grounded sweetie xo
She got severely bullied and was tormented over this. So many of her friends even turned on her and it was a dark time for her. She even contemplated suicide over it. I’m glad the news reporters gave her support
its kinda hard to feel bad for her when she gives off such a mean girl vibe. the tables probably just have turned
@@lp.shakur WTF?
Source?
@@yao052 IKR? She doesn’t give off a Mean Girl vibe at all. She actually seemed very humble. She was 17 and still a kid….
@@TheGreekPianist She actually does give off a mean girl vibe, and she was 18 at the time. Where’s the source that she was suicidal? 🤔
In her defense, she was quite young and overwhelmed. It's good that she can have a laugh about it. At her age, it could have crushed her.
She knows about partying and shopping. Anything else baffles her.
She's so cute, she was so happy she answered that question again lol
I'm planning to give this speech verbatim at toastmasters.
Her response was the cutest thing Ive ever seen.
She should update to iOS 8..
lol right.
She redeemed herself on The Amazing Race.
Well she became more famous and is remembered than the winner.👌
How ironic seeing Matt Lauer
So her answer is that if people don't know how to read maps, then you should teach them how to read maps. This insight will propel mankind to new heights of awareness.
She did very well here.
We need another update on this gem
i bet she stayed up all night remembering that answer! as well as the last one, seemed so well prepared! funny stuff!
“It’s okay, sweetie!” *pat pat*
“It’ll be okay!”
And then she went on to have 8 kids and lived in a trailer park.
I can't imagine her graduating college with a graphic designs degree.
"Everyone makes mistake, I'm humans" 😂 She messed that up too
"Damnit, they didn't tell me that there would be math questions!"
Matt was scheming how he could get her into his office.
she should be the miss universe
South Carolina must be so proud.
We are
She deserves a participation trophy!
Mario Lopez face in that video was fucking priceless at the end.
I don’t care if she couldn’t hear the question or what, I couldn’t say something that dumb if it tried!
I never saw this video, but Today Show did a hell of a job! This young lady probably needed that
At least im smarter than her, if no one else.
That's not saying much, is it?
but she was on the spot
She would fit in perfectly with the female hosts on FOX.
The question was why can't most Americans locate the us on a world map. She could have asked them to repeat the question, but she didn't and answered wrong therefore embarrassing herself
Lanhia Crosby A fifth of americans is not most, its 20% !
Logan Gonzalez ok
Say10 Calm the fuck down and stop nitpicking words.
She was nervous, but she is gorgeous.
Was there even one genuine moment in this interview? Seriously that was so plastic I feel sick
I'm reading comments about how it was a dumb question or a terrible question. Personally I'm glad the question came up. This should be a wake up call people. Let's start taking an active interest in our educational system before it's too late.
Me trying to reach the word count on an essay
Matt Lauer simply LOVED her in the Green Room.
Read maps better? You don't need to read an atlas to figure out whereabouts your nation is on it.
"Everywhere like, such as" - Classic! I'm going to use this one whenever I have the urge to say "umm"
there is no such thing as bad publicity. her re-do sounded just as stupid though.
I have to give it to her, she was strong enough to be on live tv again, after that, wtg girl.
Fair play to her, young girl, not the brightest, but she got back on the horse and saw the funny side of it.
When you're that hot, it doesn't matter if you're dumb. In fact, it's an asset.
She seems smart as, but just got nervous.
It was a pretty stupid question aswell tbh
I'm so glad she was given the opprotunity to explain what happened. She was obviosuly in shock and not familiar with public speaking.
