Nintendo should definitely add such a thing (and preferably *both* versions - the 1993 SNES All-Stars remake *and* the late 80s NES version) to (a game they should consider releasing, for 2023) ‘Super Mario Maker 3’. Yeah, I know this game might never have been as popular as (both released for the NES) the first SMB game and SMB3, and (released for the SNES) Super Mario World, but it, technically, is, Mario history.
Even though Mario was the 'winner,' I still like how you made use of everyone depending on the stage. Thanks for the upload. SMB2 was one of my favorites growing up =)
My idea for names of worlds: 1-1: Hard Plains 1-2: Albatoss N' Shyguys 1-3: A Little Bomb Tale 2-1: Quicksand Secrets 3-1: Altitude Limits 3-2: Sacrifice Of Subcon 3-3: Invisible Mushrooms 4-1: The Glacial Sea 4-2: Do Not Touch The Surface! 4-3: Fryguy And His Nightmare 7-1: Gears And Hawkdoors 7-2: Wart's Reconstructed Castle.
I feel I can gloss over the impressive parts of this hack, since it is obviously very good. Ingenious and challenging--I think it's safe to say nobody could pull this off without tool assistance. But the pathetic last level ruins it. The castle going right to the boss is anticlimactic. Did the programmer just get sick of designing levels right at the end? The final boss fight is also way too easy. In the original game, the fight with Wart was difficult because the player had to choose whether to fight above or below Wart. Above was difficult because the bubbles arc and threaten to destroy the weapon vegetable, but below was also difficult because the hero had to be FAR below, where the bubbles fall close together and are difficult to dodge. In this hack, the placing of the hero only a little below Wart nerfed the fight. Mario was able to calmly lob vegetables at Wart's midsection, while the first few bubbles arced over Mario. Once the vegetable hits, the flow of bubbles stops, so Mario didn't have to dodge much of anything after that.
It's weird/cool to see SMB2/USA rom hacks because those are very rare.
This really makes me want an SMB2 theme for Super Mario Maker.
