Ruby being a battling prodigy but not wanting to battle full-time so that his Pokemon don't get hurt was very interestingly done and especially when this secret was revealed in front of Sapphire and Sapphire called him out for it when he did not want to help save Hoenn when he is in fact a skilled battler, this moment always got me hooked honestly
I feel like there is a disturbingly long list of anime and manga characters who are prodigies in one thing yet would rather be doing anything except for that. The only characters that come to mind are: Gohan from Dragon Ball Z easily having the potential to surpass Goku and many other characters with dedicated training but never really wants to completely follow in the footsteps of his father. Itachi Uchiha from Naruto being this ridiculous combat prodigy yet would rather spend his days bonding and having fun with his brother and being a pacifist at heart.

@@ajflink the reason those still work is because they have no reason to like fighting, Gohan only defends people he doesnt train for the fun of it like Goku and Itachi is good person so much so he became an outcast so his brother would live on, Ruby in the context of the manga and what Sapphire saw was someone who could help refusing to do so, Gohan will always help those in need and put himself in danger whether he can win or not thats what he realized after Piccolo died for him was if you can help, help Itachi picked his brother over the entire clan because he loves him that much which is why he chose the safer route of eliminating the whole clan by himself then have his whole clan and brother wiped out by the high ups of the hidden leaf
I think the creator of pokemon said once that the Pokemon Adventures manga is the truest depiction of what the Pokemon world would be like. Not the games, or anime, but this manga.

I remember it was about an issue or volume of manga which he said it was the closest to his vision of what the Pokémon manga should be, not of the whole Pokémon media. Basically, the manga fans changed what Tajiri-san really said.
Ruby and Sapphire is my favorite arc in the manga! Seeing them grow, how much they were willing to change for each other. And carrying it on in the ORAS arc. Everything you summed up, the parallels and balances, it’s incredible. I never took into account that Team Aqua and Team Magma also take their aspects to the extreme. Man, I what a crazy story!
You do realise that Romeo and Juliet was supposed to be a cautionary tale of young, reckless love. Shakespeare originally wrote them as no older than 15.

that same Salamance was actually Zinnia’s I love the ending in ORAS where both Ruby & Sapphire took off to the space together on top of Rayquaza destroying the meteor that about to destroy Hoenn
The ending to their part in the Pokemon Adventures manga is incredibly clear telling that there are multiple timelines, hence multiple canon stories in the pokemon world. The games, the manga, and the anime are all canon because of that cute little onion. Which makes it even more awesome that some fan works like "I'm dating a magma grunt" (mc brendan and a random magma grunt) can feel very possible.
Wish that manhwa artist didn't get the DMCA'd by Pokemon (which I believe is what ended the series after the artist's return from the military, and then moved on to webtoons).
The scene when Ruby blames and yells Feebas and she is leaving with that fear expression was just peak and when she back to save Ruby and got hurt and evolve into Milotic just makes me cry every fucking time.
The Ruby/Sapphire saga was honestly peak. I remember reading the whole saga on my laptop in the middle of the night as a teenager because I was so hooked. Their romance was so dynamic, too - I’m honestly thankful that the creators made a choice move to focus on a love story. ❤
Please keep talking about the manga it’s so good and there aren’t enough TH-cams videos on it. I own the entire manga up to this story and it makes the games feel so much cooler growing up
because they are both based of the same character which is the female character you play as in pokemon ruby and sapphire the game version didn't really show personality so the writers had to give them their own interpretation of what the character's personality is gonna be like

You'll find a lot of instances of this in the manga, where characters from the show and characters from the manga were both based on the same characters from the games, but interpreted very differently in their own separate cannons. Brock, for example, exists in pokemon adventures (aka pokemon special) but is actually an extremely competent gym leader, and not mindlessly obsessed with every woman he comes across. The character Dawn is named Platinum in Pokemon Special, and is effectively an entirely different character altogether.

He pushed her in hovercar in RS, and in ORAS he didn't tell her his plan and knowledge to stop the meteor (which made her Blaziken drained of energy by Devon corp for seemingly no reason and having to fight dragon girl)

I've been a huge fan of ALL pokemon content my whole life, and yet the manga has always just been a tier higher in quality than everything else. It's why I splurged on the entire collectors editions so I could read them over and over again for the rest of my life.
When I was little I was obsessed reading the manga and during the summer its all I did, I remember crying reading this part. It even impacted me so much, in the future I wanted to name my child Ruby. I'm still in love with this manga, its amazing!
Brother was decades late on the gossip But really though, the adventure manga was insanely good. I took a break during the first Unova arc a bit over a year ago, but I hope to start again soon. The story making was impeccable and was what got me into manga in the first place. I wonder how Pokémon adventures is doing now...
Also very cool things were: Rubys Feebas, Wallys story, Rubys sixth Pokemon. He was selfish, but there were always small things, that you could tell, there is more to him. I still want a Pokemon Adventures Anime! This is an extrem good manga.

I just got hit with a wave of nostalgia for a time I've never thought about before. My teacher from when I was 8/9 made a library in my classroom, and while it had books like monkey magic and BFG, there was also quite a few volumes of the pokemon manga. These were the first mangas I read in my life.
The ending revelation makes me remember how the passage of time as a kid feels so much longer than when you're an adult. I'm guessing Ruby and Sapphire were 6-7 when they fought the Salamence, which means there was only a 3 year time gap until they met again to fight Seviper. To them, it probably felt more like 10 or so years since they lost each other.
Ruby is the reason why I fell in love in Pokemon, and why I still love it now. Its such an amazingly written story, followed up by DPP series as well which was awesome too.
The reveal.. .the actual reveal.. . is so freaking worth it! I read this a long time ago and I'm so happy you left some of those parts out so whoever is reading it will get the surprise too!.
It's been 1 whole decade since I read all of the Pokemon Adventures manga that my older brother had. I've never re-read it since, but I remember it being some of the most captivating reading I ever had when I was younger. This was a very nice video full of nostalgia and wonderful memories of elementary school, thank you
No he didn’t like to fight because he scared someone close to him that he was trying to protect. Also he felt like his battle with the salamance had to with his father deserting their family for so long (which was true for the wrong reasons).
I remember reading this... Pokemon Adventures Ruby & Sapphire is honestly one of the best pieces of literature I've ever read. Ruby and his Feebas/Milotic have such a great story. That Feebas was so damn stubborn in the best way possible, and Ruby was so lucky for finding it. :)
the pokemon adventure series is so underrated, i personally have volumes 1-43 myself and always bring myself back to re-reading them cause of how good the writing was

I really like how you are doing these recaps in thematic ways (say, "Ruby and Sapphire love relationship" here, "the team rocket's deal" in RBG, "Norman and Ruby relationship" apparently in the future, etc). So it's exciting and I'm looking forward to things like the Friendship of Diamond/Pearl/Platinum for example!
When I read this years ago I liked the fact that when they had the wardrobe upgrade it was them going from the ruby/sapphire version outfits to the emerald version outfit.

I love Ruby's arc in the manga. How he discarded his feebas, refusing to look at his own shortcomings, only to then reunite with feebas at the most dire of times, having it evolve into a milotic. Now thats awesome.
I remember the Ruby/Sapphire arc of the manga being displayed in my school's library when I was in middle school. I picked up the first one thinking it would be some kind of manga adaptation of the Pokemon anime, but boy I was wrong. Honestly, picking it up was one of the best decisions of my life.
This story writing was peak,I read it 4 years ago and it was the one that impressed me more than Black and White/2. I would love to watch another video of yours as there’s a canonical Pokemon special manga of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire,it just comes in a book set of 3 volumes.
The Relationship between Ruby and Sapphire was honestly very well written and great depth, especially considering how short and how linear the Pokemon Adventures series was. Comparable to even some well written relationships done in mangas, shows, and such. This is one of my most favorite relationships across all media, and within pokemon adventures (even though White and Black was pretty nice). In general, Pokemon Adventures has such good writing especially within their character relations
I was always disappointed that the manga never really explored this relationship after the Ruby & Sapphire arc. In Emerald, Ruby pretends that love confession never happened, and in ORAS, they don't really bring it up afterwards. It's such a shame because the romance between Ruby and Sapphire is one of the main reasons I love this arc so much.
In ORAS Ruby literally confess his feellings for Sapphire (after Ruby & Sapphire arc, Ruby pretends that nothing happened between them, but in ORAS he stop doing that)
Man, I loved those manga so, so much. For anyone wondering if they should try reading the pokemon mangas, it is actually surprisingly very good, and I absolutely recommend the ruby/saphire and diamond/pearl ones, the stories are genuinely good and fun to follow
i absolutely loved these manga as a kid! the first pokemon adventures series i read was xy. then i completed sun and moon. i really want to read this one now since i've recently gotten alpha sapphire for my 3ds, and gen 3 is really interesting to me now. great video as always :)

I think my favorite arc of the manga was Diamond and pearl because at the beginning it was just messing around till the secret agents came and when the boys learned that she wanted to see the world they were ride or die.
I keep hoping that eventually we’ll get anime adaptations of the Pokémon Manga. I feel like people would actually watch a show with interesting characters and actual plots.

I got into the adventures manga and purchased physical copies because of Ruby and Sapphire. They are truly the best pairing I’ve read so far. That said, I’ve heard good things about Black and White, so that’s my next read.
This. I also have an Idea how Gold became like that. "After countless of battles in his years, Gold decided to discover the mystery of the Pokemon world, his first step was to ask the eldery's about the story of pokemon and humans, the elders told Gold their understanding of Pokemon lifes is beyond limit, but also said that the ruins of johto and the unknowns may be the answers to his question. After much convincing Gold decided to discover the (unkowns) and their mystery of existance, Gold spent years for answers, the longer he searched the more his vision and world he knew pixelated, Gold started to question his reality and his own existance the more he starts to realize the unknowns are telling him his world is nothing more than a video game. Time passes and Gold becomes insane and crazy (hardly recognizeable). He starts to search for Celibi violantly, because he knows she has the ability to much through time AND possible through deminsions. After months of dedication he found Celebi, he didnt even bother bringing his pokemon he used to love, and catches her with his masterball. Later: He forced celibi to let him out of this world, he hurt Celebi, because she didnt obey him. After a moment of sielent Celebi fufilled Golds wish and went through demensions (outside of pokemon world) but with a prize, Gold has been cursed and became a half human and half pokemon. His body floats around and has no limbs, when Gold feels angry and lonely, while his good side of emotions keep him alive and normal. Gold won, but with an ultimate prize.
Gasp! Courtney's name doesn't need slander But dude, this chapter kinda changed my life. Their love, its really something else. I'm in the middle of ORAS right now, and RuSa ages like fine wine. Ruby's number code? Sapphire's name out of numbers in Japanese. Iconic.

I'm re-reading this , the entire Pokémon adventures comic once again to feel that panel for the first time again
The ending revelation makes me remember how the passage of time as a kid feels so much longer than when you're an adult. I'm guessing Ruby and Sapphire were 6-7 when they fought the Salamence, which means there was only a 3 year time gap until they met again to fight Seviper. To them, it probably felt more like 10 or so years since they lost each other.
Explaining the love story of these two while Vectors to Heavens plays in the background was a low blow buddy, my heart can’t take it 🥲
Ruby is the reason why I fell in love in Pokemon, and why I still love it now. Its such an amazingly written story, followed up by DPP series as well which was awesome too.
Emerald is an interesting character. One whom I wish was in the games like Yellow.

I feel like he got better for me in the ORAS Arc.

It's been 1 whole decade since I read all of the Pokemon Adventures manga that my older brother had. I've never re-read it since, but I remember it being some of the most captivating reading I ever had when I was younger. This was a very nice video full of nostalgia and wonderful memories of elementary school, thank you
Ruby is basically Gohan. He is UNBELIEVABLY STRONG, but doesn't like to fight to hurt his pokemon
No he didn’t like to fight because he scared someone close to him that he was trying to protect. Also he felt like his battle with the salamance had to with his father deserting their family for so long (which was true for the wrong reasons).

Pokemon Adventures has always been the best way of experiencing a Pokemon story, so happy to have grown up reading them.
I remember reading this... Pokemon Adventures Ruby & Sapphire is honestly one of the best pieces of literature I've ever read. Ruby and his Feebas/Milotic have such a great story. That Feebas was so damn stubborn in the best way possible, and Ruby was so lucky for finding it. :)

Also! I really like how you are doing these recaps in thematic ways (say, "Ruby and Sapphire love relationship" here, "the team rocket's deal" in RBG, "Norman and Ruby relationship" apparently in the future, etc).
So it's exciting and I'm looking forward to things like the Friendship of Diamond/Pearl/Platinum for example!

When I read this years ago I liked the fact that when they had the wardrobe upgrade it was them going from the ruby/sapphire version outfits to the emerald version outfit.

I love Ruby's arc in the manga. How he discarded his feebas, refusing to look at his own shortcomings, only to then reunite with feebas at the most dire of times, having it evolve into a milotic. Now thats awesome.
The pokemon mangas are some of the most underrated aspects of the pokemon franchise. People don't talk about them enough I feel like.

I remember the Ruby/Sapphire arc of the manga being displayed in my school's library when I was in middle school. I picked up the first one thinking it would be some kind of manga adaptation of the Pokemon anime, but boy I was wrong. Honestly, picking it up was one of the best decisions of my life.

This story writing was peak,I read it 4 years ago and it was the one that impressed me more than Black and White/2. I would love to watch another video of yours as there’s a canonical Pokemon special manga of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire,it just comes in a book set of 3 volumes.

The ruby sapphire arc was honestly peak i read it when I was 10 and it made me cry so much
I'm not gonna lie i LOVE this manga i still have all volumes on me and it has some insanely good story. what i mean is its peak.

Pokémon Adventures (Pokespe) are by far my favorite histories in Pokémon. And Ruby & Sapphire and Black & White are my favorite protagonists.
The Relationship between Ruby and Sapphire was honestly very well written and great depth, especially considering how short and how linear the Pokemon Adventures series was. Comparable to even some well written relationships done in mangas, shows, and such. This is one of my most favorite relationships across all media, and within pokemon adventures (even though White and Black was pretty nice). In general, Pokemon Adventures has such good writing especially within their character relations
I was always disappointed that the manga never really explored this relationship after the Ruby & Sapphire arc. In Emerald, Ruby pretends that love confession never happened, and in ORAS, they don't really bring it up afterwards. It's such a shame because the romance between Ruby and Sapphire is one of the main reasons I love this arc so much.
In ORAS Ruby literally confess his feellings for Sapphire (after Ruby & Sapphire arc, Ruby pretends that nothing happened between them, but in ORAS he stop doing that)
Man, I loved those manga so, so much. For anyone wondering if they should try reading the pokemon mangas, it is actually surprisingly very good, and I absolutely recommend the ruby/saphire and diamond/pearl ones, the stories are genuinely good and fun to follow
I love the manga, it makes me so happy when people talk about. Anyone who likes Pokemon and wishes it had a better story, this is it.
i absolutely loved these manga as a kid! the first pokemon adventures series i read was xy. then i completed sun and moon. i really want to read this one now since i've recently gotten alpha sapphire for my 3ds, and gen 3 is really interesting to me now. great video as always :)

I think my favorite arc of the manga was Diamond and pearl because at the beginning it was just messing around till the secret agents came and when the boys learned that she wanted to see the world they were ride or die.
I keep hoping that eventually we’ll get anime adaptations of the Pokémon Manga. I feel like people would actually watch a show with interesting characters and actual plots.

I got into the adventures manga and purchased physical copies because of Ruby and Sapphire. They are truly the best pairing I’ve read so far. That said, I’ve heard good things about Black and White, so that’s my next read.

After much convincing Gold decided to discover the (unkowns) and their mystery of existance, Gold spent years for answers, the longer he searched the more his vision and world he knew pixelated, Gold started to question his reality and his own existance the more he starts to realize the unknowns are telling him his world is nothing more than a video game.
Time passes and Gold becomes insane and crazy (hardly recognizeable). He starts to search for Celibi violantly, because he knows she has the ability to much through time AND possible through deminsions.
After months of dedication he found Celebi, he didnt even bother bringing his pokemon he used to love, and catches her with his masterball.
Later: He forced celibi to let him out of this world, he hurt Celebi, because she didnt obey him.
After a moment of sielent Celebi fufilled Golds wish and went through demensions (outside of pokemon world) but with a prize, Gold has been cursed and became a half human and half pokemon. His body floats around and has no limbs, when Gold feels angry and lonely, while his good side of emotions keep him alive and normal.
Gold won, but with an ultimate prize.
Ruby´s father and Wally sidestory its bit wild too, Norman wanting to replace his Father- son relationship with someone else, hits hard.

But dude, this chapter kinda changed my life. Their love, its really something else. I'm in the middle of ORAS right now, and RuSa ages like fine wine. Ruby's number code? Sapphire's name out of numbers in Japanese. Iconic.
