In the summer of 1987, Billy Joel accepted the Kremlin’s invitation to the U.S.S.R. for six fully-staged rock shows in Moscow and Leningrad, fulfilling a longtime desire to perform in Russia and permanently affecting the spirit of the country ahead of the Soviet Union’s dissolution in 1991.

This version is on a faster pace. It sounds better than the original. Moreover, this song is on a higher key than the usual Billy Joel songs, it shows the versatility and range of his voice. What a performance!

It's the same in the States, as long as they're actually clapping on beat.

My Dad died 02. Jan 2024, and my Grandpa died 15. Jan 2024. They both liked and loved Billy Joel and his Music! It was their both wish to meet him one day but sadly it never happened. Now it is on me, i hope one day to meet him and just make a Picture with him, like Tom hanks in "terminal", this woud be the greatest gift for me, my dad and grandpa. I miss you both! And Billy? keep on rocking!!

He knows how to connect with his audience and show emotion through gesture, acting, stage position, dancing, facial expressions, interacting with his band, as well as music and singing. It's on display here more than usual as he works so hard to communicate the spirit of the songs to his non-English-speaking audience.

This was my mum's favourite song in the 1980s. I can't swear to it being her all-time favourite though - one of the questions that I wished I'd asked before she died 35yrs ago.
I've avoided listening to this song over the years, as it's got the power to choke me up (as it's doing right now).
But I'm drawn to it today and I'm glad that I watched it (several times).
Never take your mother for granted and ask all those important family history questions, while you can.
I lost my mum when I was still a teenager - I didn't ask enough questions and now I'll never know the answers.

All the videos from this concert are really so good. The video quality is somehow more clear than a lot of modern videos. Not to mention the downright amazing musical performances. Another video from this same concert "Big Man on Mulberry Street," it is hard to believe it's a live recording. So impressive!
