Fabulous makes! I’m with you on the Mayfair! Such a lovely dress!!
It's an absolute classic. I feel like it will never be out of style!
I usually buy Jersey fabric from Guthrie & Ghani or Beyond The Pink Door as I know the quality will be good and also it can be of variable quality from many other stores
I've been let down by bamboo jersey from Guthrie and Ghani, looking worn after a few washes. It's tricky because it looks great right off the bolt. I'm going to be more cautious in the future!
Since the first time you showed it, I have loved your corduroy jacket! It is a piece of art, and you created pure perfection!
I have the Harper Cardigan pattern, but haven't made it yet. Your hacked version looks exactly like what I'm looking for! I will definitely be copying your hacks!
I am really happy that the corduroy jacket is getting worn. I loved the look of it but worried that it might feel too 'busy'. It doesn't. It's been such a winner.
And yes, I totally recommend those harper hacks. I'm sure I'd do exactly the same with future versions, myself!
I love light weight maxi dresses in linen or viscose challis!!!
I think I need to try making some!
I love the pocket skirt, I’ve made two myself and it’s a very versatile pattern. I love how your whole wardrobe is so cohesive, I look at my memades and wonder if I will ever develop a ‘style’ unless eclectic and eccentric is a style but even that is being generous 😂
It's been a journey! And of course not everything in my wardrobe is in quite the same style. I like having options!
I think your jacket is my favorite ❤️
It's good, right? And definitely an original! 😉
Definitely go for the denim jacket. I made the Itch to Stitch Atenas jacket this spring, and I hardly took it off until the weather got hot. It has bust cup sizes, naturally, and great opportunities to make it your own. I embroidered a dragon on the back, and my hubby said he wants one exactly like mine. Go for it!
That's the one that I've been eyeing! It looks perfect. And ohmygod, an embroidered dragon??!! That sounds amazing!! You're giving me inspiration!
I love art gallery jersey. It is pricey but they are second to none. The base is so soft and of such high quality. Not always too many prints though…
Thanks for your inspiration as always 😊
True, I really need to revisit their prints. It's an investment, though! Thanks for the suggestion!
I love the Seamwork Lane dress in summer. A jersey dress with princess seams.
It's got a lovely shape! Thanks for the suggestion!
I love your seasonal reflections. I wore my Mayfair dress loads this spring, too, to the point I'm kind of bored of it and am happy to put it away until autumn.
I really like modal French Terry for a comfortable, drapey, yet fairly durable, jersey. I don't know if it comes in prints, as I really prefer solid jerseys, but it's my favourite kind of knit to wear. My preferred one came from a fabric shop that's closed now, but I've also bought it from Fabric Godmother and Minerva - they are still lovely to wear, I just preferred the slightly thicker one I had originally, that's still going strong four years, and countless washes, later.
Ooh, modal french terry... That's a new one on me. I'll have to look around at some. Would you use that for a dress? French terry can be quite sweatshirty, but sometimes it's lighter. This is part of the issue with ordering online. Maybe I need some swatches. Thanks for the suggestion!
And yes, I don't mind having a break from my Mayfair because I know that I'll enjoy it all the more when I pull it out again!
@LostMyThread It feels quite different from cotton French terry and works really well for dresses. It has a bit of weight to it, but it's not very thick, and the loop back is there, but it's kind of low profile and feels smooth. I have some swatches I can show you when we next catch up, but you can also order 10cm strips from Minerva if that's easier.
As someone has already said, try Art Gallery Fabrics jersey. It really is the best. It isn't cheap but is definitely worth it. They do some amazing prints and the quality is superlative. I have a t-shirt that I made a couple of years ago that I wear all through the warmer weather and it still looks great despite having been washed loads.
You're so right. I've got a t-shirt that I made in their jersey many years ago. It doesn't look exactly like the day I made it, but it looks way better than most of the other jerseys that have been on heavy rotation in my wardrobe!
I'm blaming you for the rather lovely Art Gallery fabric winging its way to me. Moreover it's going to be your fault that over the next few months rather more jersey fabrics find their way to me ;0)
@@india1422 🤣🤣
I really like your version of the Harper Cardigan ... and a green hemband might overwhelm it!
Thank you! It's been such a fun one to wear. I'm glad that I didn't have enough running to even consider a hem band. It definitely doesn't need it!
I would look for a heavy weight viscose jersey for drape. If you can find it, a viscose blend would probably be good too.
I think buying online is much tougher, too. A viscose blend sounds like a great suggestion. Thank you!
Have you made a Blanca or a Thelma as a warmer jumpsuit pattern. I have the Cashmerette Mercier pinned too with a Grafton sleeve! Patterned jersey is so tricky. I have sworn never to buy viscose crepe jersey again as it wears so badly even the pricey ones. The only ones that seem to cope are AGF jerseys and they are expensive too! My bamboo jersey Sallie with cuffed legs gets worn layered up but it's looking a bit tired now ( but it is 4 years old I think!). Thanks for sharing!
Spoiler: a Blanca flight suit will be coming up in my autumn sewing plans. I still need to decide on the fabric, but that is a must.
And true, art gallery jerseys are really lovely. I need to reconsider those. They're pricey, but they last a lot longer, so I think they're worth it. They have great colors and prints, too. I wish there were better patterned jersey options!
Came on to say this!
I have been revisiting maxi dresses lately too. I'm thinking about a long denim skirt as i used to have one I wore a lot. This past spring was very rainy so pants, overalls and long sleeved tops & lightweight sweaters were my most worn garments. I made the Onyx pants by Closet Core Crew in black ponte rsyon/nylon and they are super versatile. I'm bringing them on a trip to Ireland next week.
Yeah, I think I need to consider different styles of maxi skirt. They've been a favorite in my wardrobe over the years. Your spring wardrobe sounds very comfortable and practical. Hoping your summer is more dry (no guarantees for Ireland, though! 😉 Have a great trip!
@@LostMyThreadThanks for your reply. Summer in Northern California is extremely dry with high fire danger so I actually wish for rain but it's not likely. I'm looking forward to a break from the recent CA heatwave. I'm packing fall clothes, boots & my rain jacket.
Could really see you in a flight suit ir boilersuut. Particularly the Blanca Flight Suit pattern by closet core. They do a long sleeve and straight leg version of the pattern. Actually lots of options there. And tho it is advanced level someone who’d only had a machine a few months made it quite happily so I guess the instructions are good. Thanks for another good video!
It's one that I've had my eye on, and I think this is my year for it! Watch this space. Should be a good autumnal make.
Great video, as always. I love your jacket the most.
For me, most worn and fav recent are wide leg trousers in vintage cotton I made in May. I used feel pretty pants by Ellie and Mac as a base, added pockets, and adjusted waistband for flat front waistband with ties using tutorial by Alisa from Thoughtful Creativity
For a good quality jersey, I always go to Eco-Bee (her own prints and solids)
Wide leg trousers in vintage cotton sounds so incredibly comfortable! Those trousers must be amazing!
@LostMyThread they are. I had a spring of making a secret pj type of trousers:D made 3 pairs using various patterns. I have 1 more pair on my to-do list.
LOVE the jacket!
Thanks! I love that it's such an original!
@@LostMyThread yes definitely! I love the way you’ve placed all the pieces. The colours & fabrics work so well together. And, it goes with all your other outfits! Perfect. You’ve inspired me to try something similar. 😊
@@sallygurnham2548 you should definitely give it a try. I really enjoyed the process from designing to creating it!
I especially love your Mayfair dress - the shape and little touches like the collar effect look great and that lovely print. 😍 I’m always on the look out for DPD and have found a few nice prints on Little Legs fabrics which I’m tempted to try. I’ve never bought any DPD yet - is there anything in particular I should look out for? Weight? Stretch? Thanks 👍
Thank you so much! DBP (double brushed poly) is lightweight, super stretchy with great recovery. I sew with a ballpoint needle and have never had any issues. The only thing I'd say about it is: it's clingy. If you have something tighter fitting, it will cling to every lump and bump. If you wear tights underneath a DBP dress or skirt, it will create tons of static and ride up. Other than that, it's great fabric!
Hiya. Have you tried Littlelegs Fabrics for double brushed poly. They appear to have some in both prints and plains.
I'll have to take a look. I don't recognize the name. Thank you so much for the suggestion!
Theresa, what is the name of the corduroy dungarees pattern which you have used?
Do you mean the corduroy pants? The Jude Jeans by Closet Core? Or do you mean the Jenny Overalls by Closet Core (which I also made in corduroy)? Or something else?
Never have been a fan of jersey in particular, too clingy.
I get that. Especially in the summer. I prefer it for the in between seasons.
