- Hello Sewing Friends! This week I have to rethink my plans for my dress to wear to my son's wedding. In this installment of #fridaysews I go through my thought process with you. I also share some video from my trip to Frankfurt, Germany.

Hi Diane, It is so nice to spend time with you. I love your sewing space 😍. I love your plans.
Thank you so much!
I love the vogue pattern for linen fabric
Me too!
You can make a toile with old bedsheats before you use the satin.
Congratulations on reaching 1K.
Thank you so much!
Diana, don’t attach a modesty panel to the lining - it will just move about and annoy you! When you’ve done your first toile bodice decide how much higher to make the v neck and then trace off the front bodice pattern and raise the v - because it’s lined, you won’t even have to worry about redrafting the facing - you can just cut the main and lining bodice patterns and it will work perfectly! Btw, the yellow spot will look great in the design!! Love your videos! 😊
Thanks!
Hi Diana, check out the Eva dress from Tessuti - perfect for linen! I’ve made 3 - the first 2 as easy wear dresses (I slashed out a lot of the skirt width) but the 3rd I made up as pattern in a great cotton batik and it’s amazing! BUT I did do an FBA with dart so as to make the bodice quite fitted. Really great wearable dress!
I'll check it out!
PS, I’ve lived in both The Netherlands & Germany as well as a very rural farm in Colorado. The Europeans know what they are doing. The original reason they lived in villages was safety. Now days, it’s just much nicer for the family. Lots of communal support.
For sure!
Sorry to bombard you Diana!, but if the paper pattern is too small in the waist and hips just measure the difference between the other sizes and that will give you the grade difference and you can then add that to your pattern - if that makes sense! A curved ruler will let you grade between say 22 to whatever!! It will work! Trust the process!, 😊😊😊
More comments makes the algorithm happier so it’s all good!
I almost never toile a pattern. I carefully measure the pattern & my body, fit the pattern to my body and go for it. In the 64 years I’ve been sewing, I’ve had very few real fails.
Wow 64 years of sewing! I have only been making clothes about 2 years. I have a lot to learn
Do you have any A line dress patterns?
I will have to look
I think I would scrap that Vogue pattern as they run small and sometimes are more difficult to sew. If you don't like that low front get a different pattern. Wishing you the best
Thanks!

@@TheWanderingSewist Thank you!❤️🙏❤️
Of course!
Hello Diana! Wow! You're almost to 1,000 subscribers!! How exciting! 🥳🍦🍧🍨 I'm sharing this to X, formerly known as Twitter! The ride to Germany looks nice! My grandfather was in Germany in WW1 and he brought back a Black Forrest cuckoo clock for my grandmother! I love the new dress pattern! I'm still concerned the linen fabric may be too heavy to be twirly at the bottom of the dress. Are you sure you don't want to try making the dress with a lighter fabric? Have a great weekend and see you soon!
Thanks for sharing! I am not sure at all! I may just wind up wearing the pink simplicity dress for the wedding. It’s my plan B
Yes, with this new info, i tend to agree with Copperhorse.
When I see the pink fabric i tend to think of a very tailored suit, ala jackie kennedy, but it's obviously what you're comfortable with doing.
I'm glad there is a lot of farmland there.....makes me happy to know❤❤
Lots of fresh veg
I would have no business on the Autobahn 😂😂😂. Are wrecks frequent? I remember driving out of new york state in the 70's and our speed limit was 55 mph. I hit tn or ga and the speed limit was 70 or 75 and i was horrified, my poor little 1965 vw bug 😊😊 and i.
I think you could wear the simplicity dress and save the pink london fabric for another occasion. Have you asked your future daughter in law what she thinks? I waffle back and forth. .........
I still have a RTW mock wrap dress that has a "modesty panel" that buttons to its facings, and you can also just pin them across your bra front.

I hope I can make it work!
Yes, the fabric is too beautiful to use it as a tual.
It really is!
I’m not sure if you should be outlining so much. OPSEC.
I had that in mind the whole time! No locations, times, or names were shared.
