    Did you jet the carbs?
    Was there lower power after this??

    I was once told that if you did that the bike lost compression force or something, that it is not good to do it, unless when you uncover the exhaust you use a longer tube to compensate for the loss of compression, which is true in that ? I have a rebel and my intention was to uncover his escape but that's why I didn't.

      Yes it loses back pressure really bad for an engine...his motor won't last to long...don't do it

    • @leonsumrall524
      @leonsumrall524 4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      All these people who talk about back pressure know very little about engines... Two strike engines live and die off off the exhaust because they have ports and not valves. A 4 stroke engine has valves so the combination area is completely sealed during ignition of the fuel. In the two stroke the back pressure of the exhaust helps keep the fuel and air in the cylinder until the Piston slides past the port. In a four stroke you don't have that issue. Only thing he needs to do is watch his plugs to see how lean he has now made his engine.. and should probably use a pod filter or a high flow air filter to balance the air flow of the engine.

    • @leonsumrall524
      @leonsumrall524 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Also you don't lose compression by cutting off an exhaust. Compression ina four stroke is created in the cylinder. When the valves are closed.

      @@leonsumrall524 What do you mean that the only thing you need to do is look at their plugs to see how thin your engine has been? I am interested in your comment, I want to open the exhausts of my motorcycle.

    • @leonsumrall524

      You can tell how lean or rich you are running by the color your plug is. Lean is white and ashy. Rich is black and nasty. You want a nice Carmel color on the plugs. Listen of alot of.popping when you decell. More popping means more lean.

    How to wreck your bike's performance and looks, whilst devaluing it massively! Without re-jetting the engine will overheat, under-perform and slowly be destroyed.
    DON''T BUY A BIKE WITH CUT PIPES, IT WILL BE TROUBLE.

      @@v6ish Indeed Tom, in fact it's exactly BECAUSE of the bike''s delicate performance set up that it will be wrecked by such a mod without proper compensation at the carb, which will be a limited amount of compensation because cut pipes just cause pain at the cylinder head!

      I just drilled a half inch to three-quarter inch hole in the center of mine sounds better and still get some back pressure just get a really long drillbit and drill through the center of the baffles

    • @v6ish
      @v6ish ปีที่แล้ว

      Get a hole saw and a hammer. Drill it beat it to death. You will get them out pliers help also lol. I have a 15 Rebel did this and the K&N. The filter did help and the pipes not much a little more noise. On the CA freeways I have got it to 85. It's ok on streets other than that it's a very small bike and ez to park. I have the Rebel and my 2016 Indian Chief Vintage and the Rebel still gets looks. The most I notice is weight even a full tank of gas the Rebel feels like it lost power. I a 5/11 about 148 lbs. I also notice the front wheel at 85 mph lol it's going to fly away on the CA freeways lol.

    You just destroyed a perfectly good Rebel. Some new rider would have loved to have had that bike before you ruined it. You should have sold it instead of butchering it up. Thats a $500 exhaust system you just hacked up. You don't deserve to have a motorcycle. With judgement that bad, you probably won't be riding it for long before you get crushed by a car.

    • @icandsc
      @icandsc 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      i agree - he will find out the hard way that it would have been better to remove the OEM exhaust and run straight pipes with universal baffles (not only do they sound WAYY better {no chainsaw sound lol} bc there's no cross connection, but you don't lose money destroying the factory stuff, which is quite valuable) HOWEVER - dude you never wish bad luck on another rider. thats f***ked. there are PLENTY more exhausts out there to fix the mistake.

    • @geraldscott4302
      @geraldscott4302 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@icandsc I absolutely did not WISH bad luck on anyone (other than some really bad politicians that are trying to destroy my country) and never have. I did question his judgement, but I agree I could have done it in a way that sounded better. But I did NOT say that I "wished" anything bad to happen to him.
      There are a lot of new riders out there, who will hopefully live to become old riders, and very few suitable bikes for them to learn on. The Honda Rebel 250 is probably the best beginner bike ever made.
