I love that more and more people are making their clothes again. my grandma said in the olden days if you were going to a 'dance' you would sew up your skirt for it earlier that day like no problem
Yeah they might have had more time to do it tho. Im thinking of where the hell Id find time to do these things with all the other things I do. Just cooking, cleaning, socializing and going to a job/collage takes up the entirety of my day.
I do the same! ❤ And I noticed a very nice side effect: Every dress I own belongs to a special event, like a wedding of good friends. As a self taught beginner, I love that you leave in when you make mistaken because it makes me much more confident when I make mistakes!! love watching your videos and would love if you made a video all about sewing with knit/stretchy fabric with a sewing machine.. have been having some trouble figuring it out and would love your tips and tricks!!
I'm gonna save this video to motivate myself to work on my sewing projects. If you can make 10 things in 4 days, I can make at least a couple over the next four months of summer break.
I love how you don’t hide the moments you mess up and power through them. Every time I mess up I shout “THIS IS NOT CHIC” and I feel like throwing my sewing machine through the wall. I’ll feel like such a drama Queen and usually I’ll start laughing and just power through. Love your little sign, I definitely need one
Grandma vs not-grandma is all in the styling. Re centre seam in a vintage skirt pattern - in the past fabrics weren't as wide as they currently are, so centre seams were popular. My Mum and Grandma have a stack of a-line skirt patterns with centre seams.
Loved this video. Take it from this grandma, the "grandma fabric" shirt would not be something that I would wear. I would consider that fabric only for the young! HAHA.
Jenna! I love you! You make all the mistakes I make! Sewing legs together, Mismatched surface patterns, cutting where I don’t want to cut-all of the things. I’ve done them all. Thanks for showing the whole thing, not just the perfect stuff.
Oh my god, yes! I have never before considered just how underrated skorts are. You have opened my mind to a whole new world of summer wardrobe options. I love you. ❤️

Your reactions to some of the sewing steps were so relatable! I’ve been trying to make a linen romper this week and it’s turning into a whole re-tailer, and I sewed the top to the bottom from the wrong side - ugh! Oh well, it’s all learning :)
I love your excitement and determination. Patterns problems plagued me for years before I learned to make my own fitted and designed patterns. Hi. I did sew years ago. You are a professional sewer, i am a very slow particular sewer...i could never speed sew. You are a very amazing Dress Designer. Thanky for Sharing...
i made the first pattern two times (the mock neck and the turtle neck) then i loved it so much that i lengthened the mock neck and made a dress out of it! It is still my favorite project i have sewed in a while and they are perfect for the cold winters on campus!! thank you for mentioning this pattern :)
That was amazing! I like all of your makes, especially the grandma top, skort and jacket. Everything you made looks good on you and fits you well. Thank you.
Seam down the front is usually because there’s a certain shape to be achieved. For an A-line skirt for instance, there needs to be multiple pieces cut in an A Shape to give the whole skirt the proper shape. If you only cut the front and back with the sides at an A shape, the skirt wouldn’t look good at all. I’m assuming they wanted that skirt cut a bit rounded to give it that poofier look. If you cut on the fold, it’s just like a straight cut. ☺️ I just discovered your videos. Love them! 🤍 Keep it up. 😘
Great sewing and I think you made everything look really cool by shortening the tops - it totally made a difference on the floral top, which I don't think looks grandma ish... I loved the pairing of it with the skort and quilted jacket - nice work!

The band at the bottom of the green top just looks like a hem..or that bit you see on a cuff. I think it would look great in an alternate color as well. I think its great you show the mistakes you make too because sewing is not easy especially if you are new to it. So people can see the little mistakes that can happen. Love the video! Everything looked really cute and I especially loved the wide leg pants. A lot of vintage skirts have a seam down the front because years ago, the fabric was narrower and they were trying to save on fabric so they would do a seam down the front of a skirt or even a dress. You can cut it on the fold so there is no seam, just adjust the measurement to remove the seam allowance. Great job though! And I love your personality!
Congratulations! You do an impressive job of making your own clothes. You are making me want to start sewing again. you can serge your elastic right onto your waistband & fold under twice ;) can be annoying if you end up wanting to alter but if your measurements don't change much it's a solid option.
Well, the vintage skirt pattern probably has a seam in the front because fabrics were made on a narrower width when the original pattern was made. Can't have the same swing at the hem if the fabric is too narrow. The pleats look great!
I’m 65 now and took my degree in fashion and textiles, I love your videos, as due to my health I can’t sew anymore. One bit of advice with stripes and plaids try and match your pattern to the fabric so it doesn’t show when sewn. Which mean your pattern placement has to take into account your seam allowance. ❤
Love this video! I think the seam down the front to control for the grain, so there wouldn't be as much warp at the sides - I think. I just sewed a Vogue pattern with that same thing and realized the hard way why they did that.
I adore these videos. I've been binging them. I haven't felt like crafting/sewing lately, but seeing you get frustrated is relatable. The plaid skirt is giving kilt. 😊
Jenna, you know how to motivate me to get back to my machine!! Can’t wait to get started on some new projects ☺️ I would love to know where you got your fabrics you used, they are all stunning
I love that you show all your mistakes too... I thought I was the only one making dumb little mistakes throughout the process 🤦♀.. instagram tends to remove all the seam ripping and face palming moments. but you keep going! inspirational!
I enjoyed watching this video SO much! Your choices were the perfect balance of basics and characterful pieces. Turtlenecks are my staple so seeing how many varieties you can make when you play with different fabrics and alterations is so exiting. And the blanket jacket! So cool. Thank you 😊
The vintage skirt has a seam down the front because people used to recycle their cloth flour sacks to make them. The template makes the assumption that the sewer will not have access to larger pieces of cloth.
I love that more and more people are making their clothes again. my grandma said in the olden days if you were going to a 'dance' you would sew up your skirt for it earlier that day like no problem

Love, Love them all. No its not Grandma Print. You rock!!! My fav the jacket. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wow! that's amazing! Great skills and ideas! I need that twin needle in the worst way now. I love your wardrobe!
Your floral turtleneck looks like it matches a floral skirt I've had for years and worn in numerous videos. I like it.
I adore these videos. I've been binging them. I haven't felt like crafting/sewing lately, but seeing you get frustrated is relatable. The plaid skirt is giving kilt. 😊
Jenna, you know how to motivate me to get back to my machine!! Can’t wait to get started on some new projects ☺️ I would love to know where you got your fabrics you used, they are all stunning
so much fun Jenna! great basics and fun pieces. my favourite is the granny/not granny turtle!
I love that you show all your mistakes too... I thought I was the only one making dumb little mistakes throughout the process 🤦♀.. instagram tends to remove all the seam ripping and face palming moments. but you keep going! inspirational!
I love the flowered turtle neck.
Love all the pieces and you did an amazing job! 💕
I just used the twin needle for the first time. Absolutely love it.
Omg, I'm so impressed with you! Everything came out to great. I love all well and am glad to see them getting some love. 💕
I bought the mock neck tee from Kiana a while ago and have already made several from the pattern. I’m gonna have to get the long sleeve now!
You're so creative and I love your style. It's so unique. I literally gasp at 27:12 because it's just so perfect.
I enjoyed watching this video SO much!
Your choices were the perfect balance of basics and characterful pieces. Turtlenecks are my staple so seeing how many varieties you can make when you play with different fabrics and alterations is so exiting.
And the blanket jacket!
So cool.
Thank you 😊
The pants came out so good!!! And they look amazing on you!
The double needles i always wanted to know how those stitches were made 😅 like with overlooker or it's a stitch. Thanks for showing.
That quilted jacket was amazing! You for real could make a business out of making those.
I love it and I would totaly wore everything you made in this video! My personal favourites are the quilt jacket and the trousers❤️🌟
The vintage skirt has a seam down the front because people used to recycle their cloth flour sacks to make them. The template makes the assumption that the sewer will not have access to larger pieces of cloth.
wait wtf i love the checkered skort! lowkey as a skirt would be super cute too
My favorite was the striped shirt, but I really loved the skirt fabric as well and definitely want to try the skort whenever I start learning to sew.
