Today, I was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, God's true church on the Earth. I thank Him for loving enough to cut me down, and loving me enough to let me grow into who I need to be.

I think a lot of people who are not morman would love this. My favorite scripture in the book of mormanis "remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of god". I am a morman and I know with all my heart that it is the true church we all have worth mormans and all other people and that is my testimony.
Drugs have ruined my life. I have chronic depression, crippling social anxiety, and my family looks down upon me as if i am the most disgraceful human to ever walk the planet. My Bishop in my teens was Hugh B. Brown's son and i was fortunate enough to hear Elder Brown tell this story himself. Years later, i had been away from the church for many years and had stumbled many times... but i remembered this story and i asked my brother if he find me a copy of this talk. He did & sent it to me. i have been back in the church for over 25 years... but this story will always be a special one for me.
A bishop is the Shepard of the entire congregation. Bishops are the "Father of the Ward". Not like the Father of a Catholic church, but a real Father that leads, guides and loves his family as Christ has loved us.
This should be made into a children's picture book. The artwork is so beautiful and the message even more so! I think about it every time I trim the plants in my garden.. so wonderful how God's teachings can be found everywhere if we're really looking.

I lost my job 10 months ago. After 9 months of job searching, I had made it to the final stages of the hiring process. I thought I had found my new job only to be denied once again. It hurt a lot. However, the last month has led me down an unexpected path that has led to unexpected opportunities. I'm still looking for a full-time job, but I can still say, "Thank you, Mr. Gardener."

I had always been very Thankful that the Lord had cut me down & trim me up many times in my life to ensure I am growing the right way as I should be. Looking back 27 years ago when I am a tender little plant (newly baptized then), I am growing fine, thanks to the loving Gardener.
This is a very difficult concept to grasp, accepting the will of the Lord. Mind you, not reluctantly. In recent prayers, I have been asking the Lord to help me learn to accept His will. It was always difficult, but it has given me comfort - something I am now realizing as I type this up. I thank the Lord for this Church and for the Truth restored, and for a pair of missionaries meeting my mother decades ago. Golly, this is lovely

I needed to be reminded of this message so much today.I've been hurting for a while since He cut me, rather I could've cut myself too.But I just feel so much love from Him right now, that it was for the better and that He understands my pain and doesn't deny how much it still hurts.I know the pain will go away little by little, Sunday will come. One day, I will see the big picture and know for sure that He did what's best for me. For now, I shall hold on to my faith and be comforted by His love.
what's so nice about this video is that even though this is a "Mormon" video, I myself as a Baptist can still appreciate and believe these words. Not because this pastor said them, but because God inspired them through the Bible. So very nice when faiths happen to be in alignment :) God certainly does love us :)

This story, this talk by Elder D Todd Christofferson sharing the story of Hugh B Brown, touched me in a most significant way at a time when I needed it most, last week. Now this video comes out reinforcing the message. It was a message of how God works in our lives, the frame of mind that is positive rather than the negative frame of mind of being bitter when things don't work out as we wanted. Thankfulness rather than bitterness.

I love this story, and I've used it many times to help myself and others when the Lord cut us down. He knows what He's doing, we just need to trust Him.
+brandybeckydoc Your Heavenly Father loves you. As someone who once also hit rock bottom, I know how you feel. I want to let you know that I am certain that God has a plan for you. You may not be able to get back up on your own, but the good news is that you don't have to. God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to lift you back up.Jesus Christ descended below all your pain and suffering and hurt, and he felt everything that you feel. He fell, and rose again, so that you can also rise again, through his grace and mercy. I promise that He will lift you up, if you let Him. There is no hurt so deep, no life so low, no heart so broken that He can not heal it. Read the scriptures, pray every day, repent and change the things that you need to change, but most important, don't give up on yourself, or your Savior. He will raise you higher than you can imagine, if you will trust Him and follow Him.
If we have such a great plan for our lives and Heavenly Father says no to it and takes us down a different path, then it must be a better plan than even the one we had for ourselves.

It never ceases to amaze me to know that father loves us so much to personalize trials for our greatest growth and prolonged spiritual progression only a truly loving God could and would do this.
Yes insight and moral character by choosing what is right combined with logical acumen is a gift from God, let us not forget to parent our child within wisely like this gardener.

This was me, earlier this year. The Missionaries showed me this 2 weeks after I was denied a promotion. It changed my outlook, and I'm grateful.
I had always been very Thankful that the Lord had cut me down & trim me up many times in my life to ensure I am growing the right way as I should be.
Looking back 27 years ago when I am a tender little plant (newly baptized then), I am growing fine, thanks to the loving Gardener.
This is a very difficult concept to grasp, accepting the will of the Lord. Mind you, not reluctantly. In recent prayers, I have been asking the Lord to help me learn to accept His will. It was always difficult, but it has given me comfort - something I am now realizing as I type this up. I thank the Lord for this Church and for the Truth restored, and for a pair of missionaries meeting my mother decades ago. Golly, this is lovely

I needed to be reminded of this message so much today.I've been hurting for a while since He cut me, rather I could've cut myself too.But I just feel so much love from Him right now, that it was for the better and that He understands my pain and doesn't deny how much it still hurts.I know the pain will go away little by little, Sunday will come. One day, I will see the big picture and know for sure that He did what's best for me. For now, I shall hold on to my faith and be comforted by His love.

This story, this talk by Elder D Todd Christofferson sharing the story of Hugh B Brown, touched me in a most significant way at a time when I needed it most, last week. Now this video comes out reinforcing the message. It was a message of how God works in our lives, the frame of mind that is positive rather than the negative frame of mind of being bitter when things don't work out as we wanted. Thankfulness rather than bitterness.

After hearing this story I’ve started thanking Him for loving me enough to cut me down.
It never ceases to amaze me to know that father loves us so much to personalize trials for our greatest growth and prolonged spiritual progression only a truly loving God could and would do this.
