    I have a 2020 Africa twin standard. Buy that one and add your own crash bars. Cargo rack standard now is huge. I dont have that.
    Apple Car Play changed my moto world. Such a great feature.

    Hi All, Here's my two cents worth...Overall the Africa Twin is a great bike. Could use a little more power, but heh, the engine is detuned so it will last longer. In two years I rode a 2016 clutch model for 30,000 kms, switched to a Super Tenere for two years 45,000 kms, then switched back to a 2020 DCT non adventure Africa twin....54,000 kms in two years....now, I'm buying a 2021 Adventure DCT model....It's a great bike, Got arthritis in your hands?, get the DCT model... for now, nothing else turns my crank... SHUMBA

    I live in Medellin Colombia and it is super steep and hilly here even in the city. Think of San Francisco and 5X it. You will find yourself at a stop or merge on a steep hill with a sharp turn and my understanding is the DTC will stop you from rolling back or stalling your bike. I don't have this bike yet. But it will be my next bike for sure! Great vid!

    I choose the 2022 Adventure Sports ES Automatic DCT. I’m sure I’ll like it, when I ride it…waiting on delivery. I just love the freedom of 2wheels and a motor. Gas or electric! Just as long as it isn’t junk.

    Hi. I got the Adventure Sports DCT 2020 version. I love it. Had to get used to the riding modes of the DCT. You also have up and down thumb shifters. Drive mode - is almost always 2 speeds up what it should be - to feel the power of the motor - but it saves fuel. Sport mode S1 is okay if you want to subtly ride with feeling the motor track your speed. The Power and Engine brake in the user riding modes work inversely compared to the tracking and wheelie settings. P1 and EB1 is the strongest. The bike is heavy. Offroad, you feel it. I keep it on flat and dry dirt roads or trails. I use Michelin Anakkee Adventure tires. The seat is hard. I would like a softer more comfortable seat. Overall I regret nothing. I love riding my bike. And it is indestructible. I added the chasis and motor protection crash bars and a central stand. Oh, forgot about the brakes. The front brakes are very powerful and do not heat up. The rear brake gets really hot really really fast. Has any other one of you experienced that?

      Good day. I have same bike as you, in tri color, and electronic suspension. Absolutely love this bike. I/we ride a lot of mountain passes in BC Canda, and we do many multi week tours in summer. I haven't had rear brake overheat, but not super aggressive on it either. I'm 55 and looking to keep it on its tires also, LOL. Run Mitas E07 tires, sounds like same crash bars as you, with OEM aluminum panniers. Lots of our bikes suffered fuel pump failures from magnesium weld flake in fuel tank. Honda had a recall, but we weren't happy with resolve. We installed Guglateck Mazinga kits (TH-cam video) and bikes have been great. About three hours if you're at all handy. I scored an o-ring on side oil filter cap without noticing, changing oil. Pissed oil all down side of bike and my leg once up to speed :( This is a very specific size o-ring, not available anywhere but Honda that I could find. I now have spares, and inspect very closely after oil change. Heads up. The electronic suspension is the game changer for me, as I have plenty of offroad and mountain sled riding. Comfort is paramount easily, depending on what terrain you're riding, and how much weight packing. Never thought I'd enjoy a big scooter so much, but DCT is the bomb!!!! That's saying a lot from a guy with a Z06, and Boss, who loves performance. Bike now has 21000 kms and is true Honda reliable. Three of us have em and all agree. If stolen today, we'd be shopping tomorrow for a new Africa Twin! The screen control and logistics can be a handful at start but keep at it. You'll learn to love it. Change modes on the fly as you transition from pavement to off road. Take/send phone calls via my cardo/phone patch through bike. Listen to music and BS with buds patched into network. Google maps works effortlessly and makes travel in new cities easy. I don't do a lot of night driving, but until it's damn, damn dark out, I find the lights lacking. KTM seem brighter? I should put some aux lighting on crash bars. As for the seat, it broke in, or it broke my ass in, ha ha. Travel distance per tank is awesome. Rarely do I sweat fuel. In fact, in 2021 when Lytton burnt down we were in general mountain top area that night, and had to evacuate. +46'C (114"F) bikes never missed a beat, and while many were trapped in Lillooet with no fuel, we were able to press on towards Pemberton. These big tanks saved us! Hand guards I think are crap, changed out with Barkbusters. My wife even goes on day trips with me. For two up, DCT shines even more so. Stuff it in touring, soft shifts, no banging and jerking her around. Many people don't ride DCT long enough and play with all its features to understand the system well enough to fall in love, I think. But I'm an engineer and operator of much. I hope "New Bike MIke" gets a chance to ride one. I would be interested in his thoughts. 5+ months and it's riding time again:) Wishing you a great new riding season SIS, Cheers from Canada :)

      @@billmcmeekin7909 Thanks for all the details. Yes the hand gaurds are crap. Thanks for the heads up for the fuel pump. Yes I love the DCT. It is revolutionary. No more shifting. It really shines on the road. You seem to do more trail than me. How do you find the DCT off-road? At low speeds? I am also from Canada.

    • @billmcmeekin7909
      @billmcmeekin7909 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sis1296 I find the DCT adequate for off road, but have many dirt miles behind me. Drag rear brake and throttle up a tad. Keeps bike slow but spry. I find the need to stand and knee squeeze more often at this pace. We don't do tight single track on these bikes anyway. So I find this auto gearbox a treat :-) Cheers my Canadian bro. Happy Trails/Roads :-)

      I have a 2020 ATASes DCT with 17000km. Absolutely love this bike! The electronic suspension is the big win for me. Offroad it has dirt/soft suspension. On road suspension tightens up and braking performance is retained without so much fork dive. Add panniers and gear for weeks of travel, just stiffen the ride up with options menu. Truly always a great ride! DCT rocks, you just need to learn it. Cheers 🇨🇦

      If you like the red and black, find a pic of the AT in the matte black that the rest of the world gets and cry real tears. Matte black with gold rims is unreal looking. I love the white with Honda colors, but next to the black one it looks like a circus clown.

    Hey Mike! Mike, my best man was stricken with dementia some years ago and passed away in January. While he lingered I decided to take my summer and ride cross country. I have a DR650 that can do it, shes well modified, but I may not fair very well taking her, being in the early autumn of this life thing. So Ive spent the last months searching for a bike to take on this trip. I have considered Harleys, GS's, KTM SAS, and GoldWings. I have a hard time thinking of riding in Colorado and Arizona, Monument Valley, and Zion NP and not going off road, but I am still thinking about it. However I DID put a refundable deposit on a 2022 Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES DCT only Friday. Its refundable, so I still searching. Wife would really prefer a new bike for this trip, and the AT is really the only thing I can swing new. I also rode the Rebel 1100DCT at Americade. I Would never buy the Rebel(too cramped!) but I thought the DCT was cool.

      Sorry about your best man. I am setting my DR up for more adventure style riding but I could definitely see the desire to take a new bike for a summer long adventure, if you pass thru Southern half of MO give me a shout. I think the AT would be a great option. I had the same issues on the rebel....and was impressed with the DCT.

      Ride on bud, your friend would want you to keep smiling. Take him along in heart/spirit :-) I have a 2020 ATASes DCT with 17000 km. We go on 5000 km trips and it's extremely comfortable. I've had dirt bikes all my life, row a Z06, and Boss and still love DCT for big adventure! We ride many terrains also. Not much single track but about everything else. Trail brake in slow conditions. The es is crazy awesome! I adore it. It's very noticeable. I wish you a wonderful trip on your new twin. Happy trails, welcome to the club and cheers 🇨🇦 P.S. Android Auto is great with Cardo Paktalk. Your connected, have tunes, and hands free directions when traveling in strange cities. Awesome :-)

    so is any of this actually new to the 2022 as the title suggests, or all strictly the updates in 2020? The screen height maybe only thing diff in 2022 vs 2020? just trying to understand whats really different about the 2022, vs the 10 things suggested in the vid.

    • @NewBikeMikeChannel

      Sorry if you feel the title Mislead you, it is not 10 things that are new, it is about the New 2022 Africa Twin and 10 thing you need to know. One of those things will be what is new or I will try and let people know if nothing has changed early in the video so those that are familiar with the bike can choose to stop watching, for those that are new to the bike I run thru specs and share my thoughts about the those things and the bike.

    • @MC-yb5le
      @MC-yb5le ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nathancjenkins I own a 2021 AT AS DCT, 2022 Honda AT updated the DCT control program change for smoother 1st and 2nd gear for smoother slow moving riding and windscreen update, at the 1 minute mark on the video.
      I have no issues with the 2021 DCT riding slow or wind screen but I am 6'2. I can see how the highest screen levels may block if shorter.
      I Like the AT DCT, add strong crash bars, easy to drop, just get out of the way, and I only keep 1/2 to 3/4 of a tank of gas, 6.5 gallons is heavy when riding slow or in the dirt.
      Buy the 2020 or find a 2021 discounted, I purchased my DCT for $17,000 new, you may find less if no one is buying. One dealership wouldn't come down on used or new. I called another and purchased in seconds. GOODLUCK.

    It's 'damping' not 'dampening'
    damping: a decrease in the amplitude of an oscillation as a result of energy being drained from the system to overcome frictional or other resistive forces.
    dampening: make slightly wet
