The Galaxy Tab S6 is a great tablet and it packs a lot of value, including the S-Pen and coming with 128GB of storage.
It features a keyboard that comes with a trackpad and full cursor support, so it can actually do quite well at replacing your laptop!
It's packing some pretty impressive performance with it's snapdragon 855 processor, and it can definitely compete with the 2018 iPad Pro.

Anyways, I agree with you - Macs are awesome computers, despite their embarrassingly high price tag for comparitively low internal specs. But the rest of Apple's product line are becoming passe, easily matched or later surpassed by their competitors in functionality, value for money, and design. Build quality is also around the same, but can't say the same for PC vs Mac

The fact it has an SD card slot wins the fight over apple for me it’s consideration for the customer.
I just use both, I have an S6 and just got the new iPad Pro 12.9” 2020 for the music creation apps. Though really, I prefer using the S6 as it’s a lot more powerful. Not necessarily the CPU but the OS, as I can run scripting languages like PHP, Perl, Python, Ruby, MySQL, Apache, Che, etc. Which means I can use my S6 to program on and it’s good, really good. Utilizing Apache Che and CodeEnvy, I can create practically any application under the sun. Add in the fact that you can connect a 4K monitor, mouse, 3D Printer, and you have an actual computer.
Charles Alden I just bought the S6 because of the Spen and it was cheaper. Was it a wise purchase? I’m not a musician neither and someone that needs an exceptional software. I’m a doctor i just plan using it for reading and making notes.

internal storage isn't as important as it was 10 years ago. Everything is streaming, and most people who have the money to buy a high-end tablet are hardly ever in a situation where they don't have internet access.

my only gripe is things like netflix and youtube playing on windowed mode only. when travelling its nice to watch the room tv but i have no intention in jailbreaking my phone

With trackpad turned on, I always get some weird short cut key combinations triggered while I'm typing. However, turning off Galaxy Tab S6's trackpad is easy.
Go to track pad in settings and disable the short cuts the annoy you :)
I don't usually comment on reviews, but hats off to you. Anyone who's been disconnected from the latest in tablet technology and is looking to upgrade his/her current tablet MUST consider this review.

I love that everyone I see using that keyboard is attempting to type on it two handed. When I found out this was coming out I went and checked the keyboard on the Tab S4 and it only had about an inch on the span between my thumb and pinky finger side to side.
So why would I use both hands when clearly that keyboard is intended for those of us who want to get more done with less energy wasted. First thing I am going to do when my keyboard arrives this week is reprogram myself to master that keyboard with one hand. I think being to type one handed well laying on my massage table could be rather handy personally.

I’d love to see a versus video between the Galaxy tab S6, Surface Pro X, Matepad pro 5g, and the IPad Pro 11in all equipped with their largest software and best keyboard attachment. Also in my opinion a “pro” tablet should come with a system on a chip that’s more powerful than what you’d see on a flagship smartphone.

You know, something ive not really found on youtube is an actual app comparisons between ipad and android tablets. As someone that owns a galaxy tab s4 and a 2017 ipad pro, i feel like the apps I use daily work fine on both (mlb at bat, twitter, youtube,discord, feedly). Many games are available on both platforms too.

This Tablet is so amazing, im a big samsung fan, actualy i use my Note10+ for almost anyting and i was about to buy this tablet, but my main interest as an artist and writer is on the apps, i want to use clip studio paint and goodnotes 5 for my work and sadly this two apps aren't available for android, and some other apps that i want are only the mobile version of each apps and that makes this tablet not worth the buy.
For the first time on my life i prefer an ipad pro over the galaxy tab... please android developers do something!!!!!

I'm about to review the Tab S6, and already did a little walkthrough. What I can say is, the Tab S6 has a lot more storage than the iPad Pro, comes with the s-pen. The Galaxy Tab S6 is far more customizable than the iPad. Honestly most apps work for Android just fine. And while the iPad has slightly more optimized apps, the Samsung has two operating systems in one package. Having Android and Samsung DeX is huge. Also, Your average user won't notice the difference between a fully optimized tablet app and a stretched phone app. When your device is this good, it isn't a significant difference. With that being said, you may notice in certain apps some minor things that should be fixed. When I open the ebay app in landscape mode, when I go into messages, it instantly switches to portrait because it doesn't support landscape mode. So for me I just open ebay in my web browser. When I am using DeX for multitasking, it is not a big deal to pull up ebay in a browser.
In my opinion, this stacks up pretty closely with the iPad Pro. The fingerprint sensor does need some improvement, but I expect that in a software update.

I’m not very demanding when it comes to tablets, the only issue is that I tend to keep tablets foe a very long time (5 to 6 years), and the shorter android platform support is the the only negative for this tablet, not the tablet or the actual software itself. Just the limited support period. And that is mostly where iPad value comes in for me, it’s iOS freaking long support. I don’t care about conspiracy theorists on this matter.

If they release a Tab S7 in a 12 inch version with the same style keyboard only backlit, I think it could really be amazing. Nest year’s Snapdragon just might be powerful enough to compete with the iPad Pro. Also, Chrome needs an always desktop mode for android, that was one of the reasons I returned one for the iPad Pro 11 inch. I’m not ready to give up on the Tab line though, looking forward to next year.

For me, tablets are good for media consumption and light office works such as typing some documents and editing presentation.
If the fix the lag, make a pen that feels as good as an apple pen and release a ~13" version, I'll buy it. I couldn't wait and got myself the iPad Pro 12.9, and the only complaint I have is the lack of "entertainment" apps.

I'm using it to replace my school books and folders. The big screen is pretty important because sometimes I need to look at two documents at the same time in split screen.
Entertainment apps are games :p The iOS app store really doesn't have much, many of the better games (MHFU, Bioshock) have been deleted for no reason at all, and it's pretty much incompatible with emulators for older games.
I can't complain about productivity, for note taking, drawing, music recording and editing (cubase, bias fx) it blows Android out of the water. But apples software restrictions just take away a lot of it's potential.
Jesus, why can't OneNote add the A4 format? I'd get a Surface and be happy :p

only hdr support on netflix. dolby is only for ios devices
Amazon Prime supports HDR10+... for now only them - I believe. HDR 10+ looks better on this as compared to Dolby Vision on the iPad - that's not only my humble opinion.

I just got a tab S6 4 days ago and Holly crap this tablet is wicked awesome. I have an 11 max pro cellphone and a 15inch Mac book pro with touch bar. I love my apple products, but this S6 tablet is amazing. I really wanted to switch it up and it did not disappoint. I already have a MacBook pro and I did not want to spend a couple thousand dollars (Canadian pricing) on an iPad pro, Apple pencil and a magic keyboard. Would just be too much when I already have a MacBook pro. I really wanted a tablet for Amazon prime, Netflix, social media, eReader, some games, and with a really nice display. I'm honestly over the moon with this tablet guys. Its so thin, and has the same premium brushed aluminum finish like apple products do, and man oh man can you tell. And the display! This display is no joke. They knocked it out of the park with this display. I would give this tablet 12/10 if I could. I love it!

Spot on, Max. The 8gb Tab does close the gap slightly on performance but app optimization is the big thing. Luckily, I haven't run into any issues though with the apps I use on my S6. They are the same as on my iPad.
If you're trying to decide between the two, buy both (one at a time if you cant afford both) and take them home for a few days then return them. I'm still on the fence between the two that I have at home. Returning one this weekend

Does the lag in drawing noticeable with normal human eye? I love drawing, and i wanted to get this, but when i see 120 fps comparison, i scare i might notice it and i will not enjoying it
@@remu5376 So i just tried scribbling very quickly, and I really didn't notice much of a lag. I'm actually surprised. This is my first time trying that and I was expecting a lot more, but honestly it was pretty good. Unfortunately, i already took back the iPad so I can't compare anymore.
I saw it in the shop and I like it , I liked that I can zoom the video while is playing , but then I red about having some wifi issues and realised that in both shops that I tested the tablet , the internet was not working on tab s6 , it was connected to network but no internet... This is a major issue , Samsung do something...

Absolutely agree about software. Regardless of what android tab it is it just lacks the support of great apps. They are good for browsing or simple tasks but if you want to do much word processing or spreadsheets or serious office work then you are met with little choice of apps, document compatibility problems, and an OS that doesn't offer the same file handling features of windows. Its a shame they don't improve it more. Improving the hardware with newer models is pointless without software
Improved hardware can mean improved software in the future dumbass. You cant have good software with shitty hardware dumb degenerate. Use common sense before running your motormouth ignoramus.
The killer app for me that's keeping the Tab SE and Tab S6 from being the perfect tablet / laptop replacement is the lack of a PS4 remote play app.
Soon after I posted this they released the remote play app for all android devices but the ps4 controller is only supported on android 10...smh.
i use my tablet more then my phone at home. i dont get the hate against tablets. they are by far supreme for some couch surfing then any smartphone due to a bigger screen and no gps drain. if i turn of my screen and put it away with sync off and pick it up 2 days later it only dropped 1 or 2% on battery. try that with your smartphone.
What sold me on this over the iPad Pro (aside from the price) Is the HDR AMOLED screen, it's stunning, I'm surprised Apple hasn't got on board considering their screens was a selling point at one time. But this is a BIG one: The SPen does NOT need to be charged. As much as I like Apples iPencil, there are times at work when I have to be constantly writing on a screen for hours at a time without a chance to recharge, if the iPencil dies on me, Im screwed. Also, SPens are way cheaper to replace, and work across devices like the Note Phones.
The s6 came with an extra pen tip and a removal tool correct?
This helped me to decide on waiting for Galaxy Tab S7

What are the areas where iPad pro 11 could be better? Ofcorse it depends on what the os you prefer the most. But what really ipad can do better? Is it like more powerful cpu, more professional apps, better gaming quality? Are those things worth trying iPad if never loved ios? Samsung has defenetly a better screen, more like pc interface including dex mode, ability to download files and more functions overall.
Yes, all 3 of those things except for replace "more professional apps" with "better optimized apps." The iPad screen has a higher refresh rate so if you're into gaming, the refresh rate and powerful cpu could turn you to the iPad. Also, if you're into drawing which apparently is a big thing on tablets for some people, iPad is better bc of better drawing apps. Same thing with video editing. Other than that, you will be fine with the Tab s6. I would say the Tab s6 is probably better for productivity bc of Samsung Dex, the keyboard, multiple pen tips and features, popup window, lighter weight - easier to carry around. And it can definitely do games and some drawing if you want, it's just that those experiences will be overall better with iPad

I think that the Galaxy tab s6 is like a cheaper version of the iPad pro because the power on the iPad is really better than the tab s6. And the dex thing is not really an incredible thing, actually is a new excuse for lag in Android.

They were. The Samsung 10.1 inch from 2014 is better than ALL ipads today - stylus (s-pen) with 5 functions, multiple apps on the same page, superhigh resolution, scrolling as you read, voice commands, handwriting recognition, FIND FEATURE THAT FINDS TEXT THAT YOU WRITE WITH SCRUFFY HANDWRITING IN YOUR NOTES - you name it - still much more features than apple's best devices. I own one and it still works perfectly, very reliable.

I kind of wish there was more time put into specific features as the whole thing felt a bit rushed. The standout, main feature of the Tab S6 is the expanded Dex support, not requiring a separate display and instead letting you use a track pad. It was barely a footnote here.
Was it something you used? Can the whole thing sit on your lap nicely for use with the keyboard and track pad? Could it support a good workflow and be a viable alternative to a Surface?
Using it as a normal tablet is great and all but Dex requiring no additional display turns it from a nice addition to a function of the device.
Just bought one yesterday. Using it right now. I did consider the iPad, but I'm already using an iPhone. Just wanted to change it up with an android. Almost half the price too depending on the option you choose.
If procreate and the affinity apps were available for Android then yes I would agree that this would be better suited for some or most artistic content creators, though noteability on the Apple still is much better than anything on Android from what I've seen, big ups for Samsung for producing great hardware but we're missing the software that's suitable for pro level users

Can I install apps like Lightroom, picsart, on s6 tab. How well does it perform.

All Galaxy Tabs have been Amazing for their era ! I'm using my 18" Galaxy View now, editing a video in Power Director and took a break.
Power Director a 3rd party Android App. that's Great. Great Review, but as mentioned before, it seemed a Lil Rushed.
I really begged my mom for an iPad that works better ;-;
I have a Galaxy S6 tablet for 3 years and it works great.
Yeah, knew you'd bring up the tablet app optimisation problem before clicking the video. It's unfortunate, because that's putting me off buying another Android tablet too. iPads are so much better in that regard.

Demm, I really hope Google make Dex like feature to all Android, atleast make a standard API for all Android device so that any Android can install Dex
Honestly, as a business user that is always looking to increase productivity, the S6 is the best made product with no real life uses that I have ever encountered. Its wonderful for media consumption but DEX notwithstanding, there are better options for business use ...like a 4 year old ipad. Just saying.
And btw I am not a big apple fan, but $729 for this? Come on Samsung.
Sounds great but what happens when Samsung abandons the Tab S6 after two system updates?
I have a Tab S2 with 7.0 but no longer eligible for further updates.

@@TheXander2004 at the time I worked at curry's and I was working while they were put on clearance cause they were getting replaced by the tab s7 and then I got my staff discount on top of that (10%) and got a great deal in the end ahah
