- I've been looking for a flail mower for a couple of years. Just waiting to find a deal worth buying. I finally found a Land Pride FM 2160 flail mower. It was found locally and for a good price. I attached it to my Kubota B2601 and it works great!

If you look at the top of your mower you can mount it with it off set to one side. That is what that extra set of rails are for.
Next time you move something that heavy just pick it up set it on a pallet and get it from the end. It’s safer for the trailer. Man what a find!😊

Thanks for another great video, Ed. That flail mower gave your tractor a little bit of a problem getting it off the trailer. I think I would have just dropped the tailgate on the trailer and pulled it out from under it. But that is just me, LOL! I think you are going to be happy with the flail mower, and I love the finish you got, even in the shorter grass. Looks like a good find. I have never really looked into a flail mower. Like the way it cuts. FYI LandPride / Great Plains / Kubota is here in Salina,KS. Don't know about Italy. That's a new one.
Maybe they discontinued that model when they started manufacturing in the US?
I had been looking at flail mowers for 1 year and never found a good used deal, so I broke down and bought a new Del Morino Funny Top 52” with hammers and manual side shift for my Kubota LX2610SU last month. I ran it 30 minutes for break in with no ground contact, but it has been too wet to try it out. I didn’t know the Land Pride flail mowers were made in Italy too. My unit is QH compatible - I hope you can adapt yours for that. Great find!
It looks like the lower pins on the flail mower bolt on. Maybe you can buy some pins just a little bit longer so your quick-hitch would work? The other thing I wondered about watching this was whether you could have adjusted the width of the pallet forks narrow enough so you could use both to lift the flail mower rather than just one. With it level, it might have cleared the trailer rails?
The offset to one side is for mowing along fence rows. It keeps the tractor far enough from the fence so you can steer and maneuver easily while allowing you to mow right up to the fence.
Could you add longer pins to the flail mower? It will save you arches and ankles in the long run 😉

To leave my $.02 quick, when you lifted it up off the trailer I would’ve dropped the tailgate and moved the truck & trailer forward. Then you Dont need to bang it off the sides.

One more suggestion on converting to quickitch. It's gonna take a little cutting and welding but looks simple. I would cut the pipe up by the center link, either slap in the middle or on both sides of the center mount plate, and move bottom bolted mount to the outside of the brackets then reweld the top back, will need to add some bar stock to fill the gap

Tip for hooking up attachments without a quick hitch - get the left 3 point arm on first, then the right. You can adjust the height of the right arm to get it to line up, then once connected readjust the right arm for level. I have a nice hand crank leveling box on my tractor for that. Modern tractors typically work by threaded rod like the top link - much less convenient. You may find that size flail mower taxes your tractor. They generally require more hp than a rotary cutter or finish mower because of how they chew everything up. Still, great deal!

Hi Ed, I just bought a ditch, bank flail mower from Ironcraft, there is a learning curve. It such a versitile implement. Other than the adjustments on the mower you can fine tune cutting heights with your top link. There's alot going on running 3 sets of hydraulics while using it but I'm getting use to it now & love it. Not quick hitch compatiable but i'm old school. Enjoy & have a good day!

You can get longer pins. They will have two nuts you use to adjust how far the pin extends out, instead of the fixed sleeve that came on the pins from the factory.
I switched over to a flail mower bout 20 yrs ago and have been very happy. You will find it will mulch up briars and small sticks quite well, and it you hit a larger stick etc you won't ruin anything. You will also find it throws it evenly out the rear unlike a bush hop that will windrow it. I use mine for all my trails through the fields and the woods. Maybe you can fabricate something to allow it to work on your quick hitch.

For the QH, I would probably extend the pins. I don’t think that would cause undue stress or balance issues. Not sure if you could adapt available pins/shafts or would need to custom fabricate. Also, I think you add 4-5” of pto, so you might need to update. Noticed the shaft guards are missing as well.
Ed I believe you can get newer pins that have a thicker base that will cause them to be wider so it will work in your quick hitch or you could just get oversized pins that are longer than the standard pins. I believe Tractor Supply sells those. As long as I’ve watched your videos (and I thought I was already subscribed) I never knew you were in Jersey. Greetings from Delaware lol.

I purchased a flail mower last year to replace my belly mower. Wow, what a difference. It's so versatile compared to a belly mower. I know its different for everyone, but its sure a blessing for me here on my homestead.
I’m probably going to sell my 3pt finish mower. I’ll keep the bush hog for nasty stuff.

You didn’t look very good unloading that flail mower. LOL a little trick that I have learned lift it a little and drive the trailer forward.
Get an a frame hitch such as the Jeffy hitch or the Delta, no more problems. I can’t believe everybody’s not buying them.

I have Y blades on my mower and use it as my every week machine to cut a few acres. Mine offsets with the use of a clevis pin and it’s nice to get 12” past the right side wheel to really go close to fenceline. You can usually “sharpen” those blades with an angle grinder. Nice find for the price.

If it makes you feel better diesel is over 9 dollars a gallon over here at the moment (assuming I have done my conversion right). Could you buy or make some longer pins with a shoulder on them to make it fit on the quick hitch? It looks like a great attachment and does a very good job. When you do some maintenance it might be worth taking the belt guards off to make sure you do not have any wildlife or rubbish in there

I almost got one. It went on sale this week on facebook for a great price but someone must have got to it before me. It was in worse condition than yours but the price was worth taking a risk on it. It was the first flail mower in a price I'm willing to pay.

That is too big for your B2601 !!! ... like 20 other B2601 owners here I will give you $1100.00 it will work fine on mine 😂 I've never tried it but seems like forks could be put on upside down for more height, they wouldn't lock in place though.

@@MyClutteredGarage 2012 New Holland Boomer 40. It has a 59" wheelbase, so there's ~6 inches of hammer coverage on either side of my rear tire sidewalls when its shifted into the standard position. I have a trailer big enough to bring the tractor on a field trip, just say the word! :)
Might want to look into getting you a dead blow hammer for those lower arms. Save that foot for other things :)
