I’m 76 and have owned tractors since 1970s. Just bought a quick attach and installed it on my 1999 Kubota M8200. Cut off the pin on bucket sleeves and welded on the quick attach plate. All I can say is Wow! The first attachment I’m buying are forklifts, then the fun begins. What a huge improvement to anyone’s tractor. Big or small. Thanks for your video. This is really helpful for the future tractor owners.
It really opens up a lot of opportunities to make a tractor even more versatile. Thanks!
I absolutely agree. A quick attach option on the loader is amazing. I regularly switch between loader, forks, grapple, and stump bucket on my John Deere 2025R. The versatility of using the right tool for the job is fantastic. I would highly recommend. Plus, if you have a 2" receiver on one of those attachments, it opens up all kinds of options for using rear attachments on the loader (e.g. Heavy Hitch, etc...). Love the channel Ed!
Thanks Mike!
I'm 47 and bought my Kubota B2601. Was at the crossroads of either selling the property or buying a tractor to make things easier and time saving.
Your channel helped me in researching before the purchase. Thank you
Congrats! I think you made the right move. Thank you!
I finally bought one after 11 years of living on 2.5 wooded acres. Over the years my back prevented me from taking care of things and the trees are falling. I bought a Bobcat CT2040 it'll be delivered next week. I got the loader, grappler and backhoe. I have great ideas and plans that I can finally do including digging out my foundation, removing dozens of stumps, leveing my yard and digging a pond. The grappler will be handy with all the downed trees in every storm. I tried doing some yardwork 21 days ago and I'm still paying for it physically. Technically the VA is paying for my tractor but that's giving them too much credit.
Congratulations! You’ll wonder how you ever got along without one!
@@MyClutteredGarage I'm so excited brother! So is my wife she will be happy that things are finally getting finished.
Thanks for another great video, Ed. Thank you for a lot of great information. When I bought my first tractor, a Kubota L3800, I let the salesman talk me into staying with the pin on bucket. It wasn’t too long, and I bought a quick attach and a new bucket and changed it out. I really enjoyed the change. Well, I had better run, and until next time, may God bless your days the way He always blesses ours! Donald
Thanks Donald!
I’ve wanted a tractor for 20 or so years and I’ve finally broke down and bought a Kubota BX. I’m 46 and have no regrets. Saved and paid in cash. If you plan on living in the country you should consider getting one especially as you get older. It’s truly a back saver.
Great! And you were in my predicted age group 🤣
Is her name Bea?
Once they see what a grapple can do they'll forget all about a pinned bucket. Of course now we've got to discuss the 3rd function valve. (video idea) Regarding those bottom pins, Ed is correct. Make sure they're locked in, I could've had a costly suprise last summer because I was "in a hurry". There's nothing wrong with double checking.
I had a close call recently too! Thanks!
😂😂😂 I love the movie clips thank you sir, for making the day a better a better one. Absolutely right quick attach is a must and I'm 33 and a couple acres and running a the orange L47
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you!
I agree 💯 percent with getting the ssqa . I'll be 63 in a couple weeks and the older I get the more I appreciate things that make life easier. Enjoyed the video .
Thanks for your comment. Much appreciated!
66 almost 67 and have a L3901 and loving it for the last five years.
Ok, so my prediction may have been a bit off :)
@@MyClutteredGarage , you just need to expend your search to include us old codgers Ed
A SSQA system us a MUST when investing in a tractor, I just got Pat's Easy on quick connect system for the 3 point, as a regular quick hitch has too many limitations.
I haven’t used the Pats system, but it looks great. 👍
Agreed. The next thing is to add a hydraulic top link on the back.
The real beauty of the JDQA is your neighbors are less likely to be borrowing your front end attachments. 😊
🤣🤣🤣
There is a cure for the pin on bucket. A manufacturer Ai2 Products - Tractor attachments for Kubota BX. Ai2 Products designs and manufactures custom compact utility tractor attachments for Kubota and John Deere.
I ain’t that old bro!! 😂 but I’m here for the rest of the video hahaha
B2601 at 56 my first compact tractor. Dealer pretty much said its rare they sell a pin on bucket. I went back a couple years later and got the same fork set you have 😀 Forks was worth there weight in gold lifting shingles to house and garage roofs last fall :) Another thing they did is load the rear tires as part of tractor price.
I agree with you 100% Great video Thanks
Thank you!
TOTALLY AGREE! Tim in northern TN
Ed, you are 100% right!
Good advice Ed! I've got 6 different attachments for the front of my LX. I thought the bucket was just fine. 😊🌴🚜
What more could you want? More!
My L3940 is a godsend with my quick attach bucket! 12 years of easy peas!
Spot on again Ed.
Awesome Thankyou God Bless You Too
I totally agree!
Great advice. Not sure who’d want a pin on bucket.
People that are on a budget and can only get a used tractor. We don’t have much of a choice.
You're 100% correct, Ed.. I use a 4-way bucket, root grapple, pallet forks, snowplow, and a tree puller on the front of my Kubota L4060 loader. With a pin on bucket, I wouldn't be able to use any of these attachments.. Excellent video.. Thanks for sharing..😉
Thanks Terry!
Definitely agree Ed. I have one on my B2650 and I am constantly switching between the pallet forks and bucket. Just takes less than a minute or two to swap.
Good day Ed, couldn't agree more. Sometimes I change between the bucket and the grapple 3 or 4 times in one day👍 Great advice for anyone thinking of buying a tractor.
Thanks Ben!
I agree 100% on the SSQA! I bought my Kubota used and had no idea about tractors/loader and it was pin on. I had it over a year before I bought a Worksaver SSQA that pin's on my loader. Ended up buying a new SSQA bucket from my Kubota dealer (instead of cutting/welding my old one). Best investment - with the Artillan forks/frame, I can use forks, stump bucket, or someday their grapple on that frame system. I probably have the forks on more than my bucket!
So true, my New Holland Boomer only has the pin on bucket, bought the tractor used, all the budget would allow, have the aftermarket pallet forks that attach to the bucket, but they only are rated at a fraction of what a quick attach can do. Next one will be SSQA
This episode gave me NUMEROUS chuckles!!
You’re correct Ed. ALWAYS get that loader and NEVER get the bolt on! The SSQA evolution is a gift from God!
Oh, one other tip? If you have a back hoe and loader and want to drop your implements, drop the back hoe first, then the loader!
If you drop the loader FIRST, you’ll be in perpetual wheelie motion! Ask me how I know!!😳😬🤣👊🏻
🤣🤣🤣
How's she goin'? You ain't lying here Ed!! My tractor has a pin on bucket and I have often thought of upgrading my tractor just to get a quick attach bucket. LOL Take care!!
Thanks Mike. Do it! 🤣
If it were only that easy eh!!!@@MyClutteredGarage
Excellent advice! And agree to look for the SSQA
Thanks Ross!
Hello Ed. I enjoy all of your videos. Although I have 2 different J.D. tractors one is their pin on buckets (for 1070) and the other the European style (5045e) they seem to be equal to the Kubota buckets. Kind Regards. Craig
Thanks Craig. Good to know!
💯 % Ed. Quick attach is a must. In our area the Kubota salesman actually came to our property and we went over a bunch of tasks I wanted to do. He then recommended items and that’s the story. Super great service. Awesome done video Ed. Cheers, Mike
Excellent. Thanks Mike!
Good tip. Most new have the QA, but if you are looking at a much older used tractors they are more likely to have a pin on. There are QAs you can buy to replace your pin on bucket, but I would make sure you could get one for your particular loader before buying that used tractor.
Great point. Thanks!
I agree with everything you said Ed, I'm 53 years old and didn't buy my tractor until i was almost 50. Wish i would have bought it much sooner. Your right about the ssqa front end, opens up a lot of different things to do with your tractor and I'm glad i went that route. My only regret is that i didn't get the cab for my tractor. I've made up my mind once I've paid off this tractor I'm getting the same tractor again with a cab and a backhoe. I won't have to buy new attachments and with my trade in value i should be able to get the two mentioned items and keep it within my budget.
Yeah I’d like a cab and a backhoe too. But maybe something larger also. Thanks!
Thanks Ed. I discovered your channel over a year ago when I was deciding which Kubota model to purchase. The dealer talked me out of a pin-on bucket for the same reasons. I got the B2601 replacing my 40 year old grey-market.
So how many attachments to you have now? 😄👍
Hi Ed, my buddy donnald from money pit homestead sent me over. Sorry about your .job. good luck on your youtube channel. Be safe randy
Thank you, Randy. I appreciate your kind comments. Thanks to Donald too!
Great Advice Ed
Thank you!
Great advice and I would like to make a suggestion for anyone using a grapple. I was picking up a lot of brush and almost wrecked my grapple or my loader when a stick pushed up one of the lift arms on the quick attach. I was very lucky to spot that one side was loose before it twisted off. I went straight back to the shop and drilled a hole in both lift arms and used a tarp strap to pull both of them down.
Good tip! Thanks!
Frontier (John Deere) does in fact make a SSQA: SA20 Series Skid Steer Carrier Adapter.
The problem with Kubota, is they call their hydraulic line disconnect, quick attach. Which is confusing with quick attach for the bucket. So you can buy a Kubota, with quick attach and still have a pin on bucket. Most confusing thing ever. I have a used tractor with pin on bucket. Really, really wanted a grapple. Regret buying my tractor. So I completely agree.
You’re right. They have a quick attach for loader assembly and then the optional skid steer quick attach bucket.
The SSQA was not available on the 50 series FEL. Ai2 Products make an aftermarket Quik Attach for pin on FELs for the BX. It works and is well designed, but I am limited to their attachments. I'm not complaining, but I truly wish I had the SSQA option that is available today from Kubota. Enjoy the Journey - Cheers
Hi Ed. You are right on with this. When I change it over to another attachment I lower the loader until the front wheels come off the ground. That way I now the pins are in. I have missed the pins not being in 2 times before I started this.
It’s not hard to mess up. I’ve had debris prevent the attachment from seating properly. Thanks!
I'm so glad you posted this video ... I'm a tractor newbie (Kubota B2301) and followed a lot of your advice as to what implements to buy. The first one I used was the forks, and they kept falling off ... now I know why. Thank you and I wish you the best. I've learned a lot from you.
I’m so happy to hear this helped you! Thank you!
I’m so happy to hear this helped you! Thank you!
Great video. I agree 100%.
Thank you!
Ed great video and explanation. Im 37 and own two tractors so far. There bigger though 100hp & 50hp.
In the market currently for a 25hp something tiny to use around the house. The skid steer attachments are hands down the most simplest. Really wish more manufacturers would juat go that direction.
Thank you!
John Deere is the Apple Inc. of the farming industry.
Change my mind 😂
2:53
Good advice. You missed one cut away clip, the SNL body builder guys saying "hear me now, and believe me later"
Haha! Thanks!
This is fantasic information and great advice, thanks. SSQA or other quick attach systems are not common on compact tractors over here, I am not sure if it is even available as an option. You were wrong, I am 16 and dad is 63 🙂
Haha! I was *this* close! 😄
Agree completely. Get quick attach. If you think you ever might want a different attachment on the loader, get quick attach. If you want better resale, get quick attach. As someone who has a 42 year old compact tractor without quick attach, there are definitely times where forks or a grapple would be a better tool for what I’m doing. I get by with clamp-on forks, but they’re stressing the bottom of my bucket and the load is really far out that way, reducing what I can lift. Adding quick attach after-the-fact is an expensive proposition. The components are generally $1,200-1,500, not including the hot work to cut off the pin mounts and weld the mounting plate on your bucket. The age of my tractor along with the cost, hassle, and small sacrifice in lift capacity on my already wimpy loader (by modern standards) is why I haven’t converted it to quick attach.
Well next time, right!? 😄
@@MyClutteredGarage I grew up with my tractor. My grandfather bought it new in 1982. It’s still working on the same property today. It won’t go anywhere, but I may add another bigger one sometime in the future. I sure wouldn’t buy a tractor today without quick attach. If they had the kind of loader attachments and quick attach in 1982 that we do today, I’m sure my grandfather would have gotten quick attach back then.
Great as always Ed
Cheers
Thank you!
Fully agree SSQA is the best way.
Don’t buy a weight block just use an implement for balance
You are correct i always keep my 7ft box scrapper attached and use it alot , It weighs around 500 lbs and helps alot using the loader !
Thanks for the nice video
Thanks for watching.
Good job Ed!. 👍👍👍
Thank you! 👍
Thank you
You're welcome!
I'm upgrading from old Ford tractor I'm keeping old I love using it but I need front bucket
Having the option of having a pinned bucket is one of those options that IMO shouldn't be an option and just be SSQA all the way. But then I've seen a YT video of a guy complaining that he had to "pay extra" for 2 extra magazines that came with his pistol, so there's always going to be at least one weird penny-pincher in every group hence why we still see pinned buckets being sold.
Right?
Good afternoon Ed ☕️☕️
Those aren’t the right mugs, but Oh Well!
Haha! Thanks Gary!
46 and went for compact and zero turn from craftsman rider.
Colombo?!! Nice 👍
Haha! Thanks T!
I did not even know this when i bought my first tractor, got lucky though and it came with SSQA. Luckky the JD were price out of my range. 😢
Most dealers probably assume that folks want the SSQA. Probably not many on the lot without it. Lucky you! 😄
Ed -- You were unfair to John Deere. I'm not a fanboy of Big Green, but the cost of attachments for their quick attach system isn't one of them. Yes, JD-branded attachments cost more than similar quality attachments from third-party brands. But, the same is true of Kubota attachments! Green paint (and orange paint) seems to cost more than black, red, or gray paint. If you compare the attachments available from third-party brands, you'll see that virtually all attachments come in both JD quick attach and skid steer quick attach , and both versions sell for the same price. Are there exceptions? Occasionally. But the exceptions run in both directions.
Are there valid reasons for preferring SSQA over JDQA? Yes. Some find SSQA slightly easier to use than JD's system. Others claim SSQA is slightly more prone to jam than is JDQA. Personally, I don't find either of these reasons persuasive, but YMMV. Another concern carries more weight: if you switch tractor brands, your JDQA attachments won't work with your new tractor. While that's a valid concern, it needs to be balanced against the reality that when most of us switch to a new tractor, we're doing so because we are moving up, or down, in size. When we do that, our existing attachments may not be the right size for the new tractor. For that reason, it may be best to sell the old tractor with its attachments and use the extra money towards new attachments that get the most out of the new tractor's capacity.
Point taken. Maybe I should have been cleared that JDQA attachments are not as commonly found - especially in the used market. You’re right that many manufactures offer attachments for either system. I appreciate your feedback! 👍
👍
Good Day Sir Ed 👌👍😇Yes a Good Dealer Is The Vital Factor 🙏😇 Yes SSQA Is Truly OUTSTANDING And A Must 👍👌😇🚧🚧 MAN YOU HAVE TRULY AN OUTSTANDING SENCE OF HUMOR Mon AMI 😇🤣👍👍🚧🚧 Very Nice Demo 👍👍🧐👌🚧🚧 Keep Warm Sir 👌😇👍Cheers 🍻
Thanks David!
Haven’t watched yet. Cab. It’s cab. The answer has to be cab lol.
🤣
Say Ed . I'm looking at buying a subcompact tractor. So just a mile down the road is a well established (1945) Kubota /HI/Case dealer . Thinking about a Kubota with loader BX2380 or BX2680. I'm torn between new or used and size. Will use it for snow/ mowing/ cleanup at the lake and trail maintenance at the wood lot. What do you think? And just turned 67.
I’ll be honest. I can’t imagine having anything smaller than my B2601, unless perhaps I were going to use it with a mid mount mower. So I’d recommend going with the biggest that you can get away with where it won’t be oversized for your property. I would search the Internet for both models to see if there are any known issues. I’m not closely familiar with the BX series. But as you are well aware, there are a lot of TH-cam channels that feature those machines. Whatever you decide, if you think, there’s a chance that you’ll be using PTO driven attachments, you won’t regret going with the higher horsepower. I also wouldn’t be afraid of a used machine, especially if it has low hours. There are a lot of machines out there with very little use. Let me know what you decide!
I disagree. It depends on what you want to use your tractor for. With the pin on bucket you can lift more weight. If you attach hooks for chains to your bucket you can lift almost anything. Quick attach loaders are great but most people don’t need it. I’ve owned both and I prefer the pin on bucket with hooks.
I appreciate your input! 👍
This is why I don't have a Deere
It really can be a deal breaker for some.
The John Deere doesn’t have levers springs or adjustments. All the aftermarket manufacturers build the JD attachments so you’re really not talking about more money. The JD system is much more simple and trouble free
I like the JDQA. Much harder to find used JDQA attachments.
👎ed seriously? This is just bad information all the way around virtually every attachment for a loader is available in ssqa & jdqa
So sorry to see you putting out untrue information
Please do some actual research and correct the fake news
Absolutely. My point was to get some kind of QA, whether it be SSQA or JDQA. But I see a lot more availability with SSQA - especially if looking for used attachments. No hate for the JD system, just not as common. 👍
I think Ed's point was that the Deere quick attach system only works with Deere equipment. I have 2 loaders and a skid steer all SSQA. I can switch any between all three without problems. If one of my machines was Deere all my attachments would be useless for it unless I bought an extra adapter. Sure you can find most attachments with JDQA but they usually cost more because Deere requires a fee for use of their patent and they are not as common in the used market.
Not true I have 3 tractors and no less than 5 buckets and a grapple and several other miscellaneous loader attachments. When I ordered them I had the option of a ssqa or a jdqa @ no difference in price
@@dantabler9301 Anybody can simply do a search. There are at least 3 times as many SSQA attachments used for sale as JDQA online and one of the biggest distributers of loader/skid steer attachments lists an additional $125 for JD hook and pin over SSQA on their site.
