Gotta love the airport pound sign rondels on the floor. You've heard of Congestion Zones, and Low Emission Zones. Now London gets honest and calls it the Money Zone.

Re: 'Undertaking' the lane-hoggers. When I learned to drive (in Ireland, quite a few years ago) one of the three clearly articulated reasons you could overtake on the inside or undertake, was when the traffic in an outside lane was moving slower. If you're still driving within the prescribed speed limit there should be no issue with it provided you didn't deliberately move from behind the lane-hogger to the inside lane to go past them.
I regularly drive past lines of traffic in the middle & outside lines while driving all alone in the inside lane on cruise control at the speed limit. The numpties in the outer lanes think they're moving faster because they're in the 'fast' lanes, I leave them to it.

The cabbie should have pulled in straighter at Gatwick Airport but sometimes the passengers are to blame by being demanding to stop at a particular spot as they are not prepared to walk 20 yards

Yards? I think you mean take 20 steps! Oh yes, we have them here in the USA too. "Well, I can't walk that far." Is almost never the truth, it usually means "I don't want to walk."

I have had passengers whom think they can get out of the taxi when you turn a corner and have to stop in traffic on the corner. I have also driven taxis with brake locking which does alleviate this problem. But you then end up with them trying to smash petition to get it you, because you won't let them out and if you release your foot off the foot brake the doors can open

Just found your channel and subscribed, it does however remind me why I retired and moved to the Lakes… yes you still get the odd local making a balls up of things, particularly as it’s an aging population in the town I now live, (Penrith) and also holiday makers passing through. But for the most part local drivers are extremely courteous and friendly, nothing like the 30yrs of progressively worse driving standards day after day of what seemed the majority of London drivers. Up here it’s a different world.

That lorry reversing out, no reversing in could be an issue I think. What he should have is a spotter to help guide him out, either riding with him or one of the people who work where he's delivering, I see it all the time at my local B&Q, lorry needs to reverse out because it can't reverse in B&Q shop worker acts as a spotter for him don't know if that's Standard Operating for B&Q though

Thanks for the info on the taxis in London! When I was there, we used black cabs when we weren't on the tube or train. Never knew that about the licenses - taxis in my area are clearly marked as taxis - signs on top, name of taxi service and phone number. I would never think to look for stickers on windows.

Driving in London is awful, for the most part drivers are impatient and discourteous. It’s so refreshing when someone gives way, or allows you to merge. We don’t go to London that often but I feel I need a message in my back window that reads “ I’m a Stranger Here”. Even good drivers make mistakes occasionally especially in an area they don’t know. We’ve been round roundabouts twice sometimes because the signs aren’t always easy to interpret, as for road markings they’re practically invisible and are completely if covered by a bus or a lorry. Thank goodness we live in the North and Good Luck to those of you who drive in London every day, I don’t know how you put up with it 🤪

To be fair to the taxi driver, it doesn't matter how much knowledge he's done. If he's got a difficult customer demanding to be dropped off just before the silver car he's going to try and do that just to keep them happy and get rid of them ASAP.

I had to do an emergency stop once near home while there were some roadworks going on. It was dark and the first time I noticed that there was someone in the road (a runner) was when I was almost about to hit them. They were dressed all in black (including from memory a balaclava, most likely because it was flipping freezing) and while they were a genuine runner (not a criminal) the stupid idiot had one tiny light on them that I could not see. With some reflective gear on their arms or legs (even a high vis jacket) I would easily have seen them and slowed down in advance but still wondered, why the hell where they running in the road?!

At about 11:25, I would probably have also tried to give her a message, but I'd have held back until the hard shoulder re-appeared. That way you have an escape lane if she decides to wake up and move back into the left lane. It's almost certain that she wouldn't have checked her mirrors before doing that.

Your timestamp points to the end of the 'cyclist on the 40mph roundabout' clip, but I didn't realise that a hook turn required the cyclist to ride through the next available red light 😉

The reason that wagon at Hampton Court was reversing was because his drop was on a slope.
Those food wagons are full of cages. You kind of have to park facing downhill because when you open the shutter door to unload, if you were parked up hill all the cages would roll backwards and out the back of the wagon.

I agree with much of what you say, but regarding the cyclist arriving from the right, the size of your car's 'A pillar' and the fact that it obscures your view is hardly someone else's fault. The 'A' pillar on my car is far from ideal, it's just a combination of the driving position and the design. You can get around it by just knowing what it obscures.
