What I do is that I have thin hair and I hate it down but I also don’t like ponytails so what I do that looks like a bun is that I pull my hair up like I’m doing a ponytail but then I like insert my hair inside the ponytail (idk how to explain it) and then I would spread it so it looks more full
I wash my hair at night too and put it up in a bun while it's damp. In the morning I let it down and spray w/ hairspray and it looks great for about 20 minutes.
I'm a guy and my parents say I've had thin hair since I was little. It's funny, cuz I just recently noticed that you can see a lot of skin on top of my head, and I thought I was going bald at age 17. Hopefully I'll keep it until my late 20's.
It sucks so bad to have thin hair... I have thin hair and I feel like on the top... I don’t have much... I feel I look bald at times and that makes my self esteem go down at times. But am trying to get over it
@@gueriita3535 You don't need a specific brand. It's just basic vitamins that help. D, Omega 3, and Biotin (B) all appear to have scientific backing as helping with hair. YMMV - I'm not sure I can tell the difference or not after trying.
Nice video - a lifetime of fine hair issues - it is like you are walking down the street and the wind is blowing your hair everywhere that is not attractive and yet you look around and no one elses hair seems to be moving...
Oh wow - I have a sister in the sinister world of the wind is out to get you... it truly does my head in -walking in the wind you can only think about your hair and the wind - no time for thoughts of national importance. And it makes you really cranky. Well - it makes me really cranky. And hairspray - that doesn't help - its like a whole section of your hair departs into the atmosphere at some humiliating angle
OMG yes!! I always end up with a whole new hair style once I walk out into the wind. And everyone else's hair doesn't move at all.....now combine that issue with head sweating... whether at the gym or out dancing...I'm always the one with soaking wet hair!!!! Very embarrassing.
I can make my hair look fabulous... For about 3 minutes. Then I look like a witch who hasn't showered in years. I'm exagerating, but that's what it does to my self esteem
@@Riannajean13 if you wet your hair see the pattern if they are curly then you have curly hair if they are wavy then your hair are wavy if not that then maybe your hair are damaged.
I recently started to put the conditioner on the bottom of my hair first, then wash my roots. That way, when I rinse, it washes off any heavy oils left by the conditioner. I feel a big difference.
I WAS BORN WITH STRAWBERRY BLONDE HAIR WITH SAME COLOR LONG LASHES. MY BROTHER HAS SAME HAIR COLOR BUT BEAUTIFUL DARK LASHES. MAKES ME SO MAD.LOL VERY THIN HAIR, BUT LOTS OF IT WHICH I CONSIDER MYSELF LUCKY WITH THAT BUT I CAN'T DO ANYTHING WITH IT. I CURL IT & ABOUT 10 MINUTES LATER IT IS FLAT. SO I GAVE UP
I am a hairstylist I just want to mention to everyone just to be sure get a blood test to check your Vitamin D, thyroid and iron levels, if those get low it could cause thinning, my hair is medium thickness but I struggled with some thinning and it was from stress and vitamin deficiency!
Meowlody I had no idea!!! I have fine hair and vitamin D deficiency. Once I found out, I started taking vitamin D supplements prescribed by my doctor and my hair has never grown so fast and strong! I also do henna which gives my hair an extra coat of defense
Thin hair is not the same as medium/full hair that's thinning. Just fyi in case anybody gets anxious about it. If you've had thin hair since you were 8-9, there's nothing to worry about.
I wish I had thick hair 😔 A lot of people look nice with fine / thin hair but I don’t. It just goes flat and doesn’t do anything, and gets greasy and damaged and has no volume. It’s difficult to do hairstyles. Fml Edit: my hair has improved in health after using coconut conditioner!
i’m guessing that your hair is naturally thin..? it took me a VERY long time to finally accept my hair, we just have to realise that no matter what we do our hair will forever be thin, but honestly i think thin hair is gorgeous and there’s so many pros to having thin hair that we can brag about to people with thick hair 😂
Hair like that can at least look sleek, and that's so pretty. My hair is thin but it's frizzy, so it looks awful and I can't do anything about it really. Either it's thin and frizzy and I look like a thin haired version of the "before" in Princess Diary, or I have to put minimal amounts of oil, seriously like a drop evenly distributed, which will make it flat and greasy looking, while still frizzy at the top because I refuse to put oil near the roots. 😓
Yep, the oilyness happens the same to me 24 hours after a wash nearly by the clock. Then in winter the hot dry air from the heater dries out my hair and it all becomes this massive electrified tickling mess. Then I scratch and it makes my scalp dry. Argh. I'm about to go to the store to get some dry shampoo to bring back some moisture or get a moisture spray of some kind. The older I get, the worse all this thin hair does to me! Argh
It's not the volume of hair you have...it is the skill and traing the stylist has to cope with your thin hair, which is more difficult to work with. Appreciate their creativity and professionalism, because we can't do it ourselves.
Another way to have really healthy hair is getting shampoos and conditioners without sulfates or silicones, also looks for damaging things like alcohol in your other hair products
Hi ladies I am in "the industry" of hair and spa and have very fine thin hair. I wash my hair and condition it twice a week and use Aveda thickening tonic from about mid shaft to ends, Pure Abundance spray on the crown. When hair is mostly dry I use bumble and bumble hair powder, which has color in it on my head to fill in any areas that show too much white scalp which is generally towards the front of my head. It is a bit sticky and adds good texture. Also I recently ditched my Redkin and Aveda Shampoos which made my scalp itch, for shampoo with NEEM in it. This is an ayurvedic ingredient which helps repair and rebuild your strands and conditions your scalp in a way that does not weigh hair down. This is working for me at the moment. Good luck ladies!
Anybody have advice for me? 1. If I don't wash my hair everyday then it gets SUPER greasy. 2. I have MAJOR baby hairs that wisp out and won't go down right in the middle of my hairline. (Also throughout my hairline) 3. My hair is very thin at the ends! 4. My hair breaks so much every single day. I find hairs in my hands all the time. 5. My hair has no life to it and it's flat and very thin. Finally, 6. I will brush my hair and within a couple minutes it's tangly again!
My hair gets super greasy too if I don’t wash it daily. One stylist told me to shampoo only the top scalp, gently massage the roots, then condition everyday. I did so and I can say that my hair is so much better than before. It’s smoother and so much easier to comb and manage. I also don’t have a lot of hair fall anymore, unlike before.
Yep. The slight air tickling of the hair when it moves by hot dry air due to heaters in winter is relentless! I can't concentrate at my creative work when the tickling hair movement starts. Its constant even when I try to lay down to sleep.
Another good tip a hair stylist told me.. use a t-shirt to wrap your hair up with instead of a towel! The towel makes my hair really frizzy and never knew it until I tried a tshirt!
There only needs to be a light breeze and I look like Chewbacca standing in a wind tunnel. Yet my friends with medium to thick hair? Not a single strand out of place.
That’s what I did , I have a pixie cut because I can’t do jack squat with it XD when it cools off where I live , i might start wearing my wigs . I bought two in a color closest to my hair and brows and they look good when i style them and give the illusion of thickness and volume :)
My fine hair gets greasy and messy really fast and it drives me crazy. It looks clean when I wash it in the morning but after a few hours it looks bad again
I have this problem as well. I know how bad it is to wash your hair every day and I've tried skipping, my hair just ends up so greasy and nasty feeling that I can't take it. I cycle through two pillow cases every week, always keeping a clean one on my pillow. I also try to limit how much I touch my hair through the day as I find it makes it greasy faster.
Washing your hair too much is why your scalp over produces oils creating it to get greasy faster. You strip your natural oils out of your hair when washing so your scalp tries to make up for it. You will have to go through a awkward phase of over producing oils while skipping washing your hair but it's short term. Eventually your scalp will calm down and not try to produce as much oil once it's not getting stripped away as much.
3:51 When it comes to diet, see your doctor in order to get your nutrient levels checked via blood tests. However, see a nutritionist when you are looking to see if you need to change your diet or include/exclude certain supplements. It's important to remember that the majority of doctors do not receive training in nutrition so they are not usually the best professionals to seek when you are looking to change something in your diet.
I used to think the same thing about not washing everyday. After 2 years of dry shampoo I started noticing hair loss. I went to a scalp specialist where I was told that is the worst thing to do for fine thin hair. The oils and dry shampoo build up causing hair follicles to become clogged and eventually kill your follicles. Through the specialist and my own research, daily washing with properly ph balanced shampoos, brushing with proper boar hair brushes (or synthetic) daily staring at the bottom and working up to the root when hair is mostly dry. Brushing/massaging the scalp is of utmost importance for increasing circulation to your hair follicles. Again, I used to follow your same regime, stopped brushing as frequently in fear of breakage and stopped dying my hair as I thought that was the problem. I started following the specialists advice and now my hairline has improved with new hair growth, including my whole head. PLEASE look into this before you end up where I was. Anxious bc I was loosing hair, thinking I would be bald by 36, go doctor was dismissive etc etc.
Your hair looks great, and I love that you're allowing your natural color to grow out. I appreciate advice from others with fine hair. It's a reminder that fine hair can be beautiful too!
I have major issues coping with my thin hair. My hair looks like your and I can tolerate it now. But I'm so afraid that I'm going to be almost bald when I reach a certain age because both men and women lose hair as we age. Which people with thick hair probably don't even notice but what am I going to be left with :-(
Ivana Lovric I have very fine hair. I will be 60 soon. The good thing about getting older is the grey hair is courser so it helps keep a little volume.

Something that a lot of people might find ridiculous but works for me is using conditioner before shampoo. That way your hair gets conditioned but after being washed with shampoo doesnt get weighed down AND you can use it in your roots without the hair getting greasy after that (it also gives me more volume). Also personally for me washing with cold water is a big no because it makes my hair super flat and shapeless and it looks even thinner, i always use warm or lukewarm water. Blowdrying isn't a problem if you use low heat.
To keep my fine hair healthy and feeling a little thicker is I do a coconut oil mask every other day. I just let mine sit for 30 minutes or so and then take a shower. Remember to use shampoo in the shower to get all of the extra oil off.
I don’t even brush my hair, when I get out of the shower I dab it down with a towel and let it air dry, which usually makes it look wavy and has more volume and stuff
Great video. I’d like to mention sleeping on a SILK pillowcase is very beneficial four fine hair actually any type hair and helps with wrinkles. Note: I stated silk. And I mean make sure is authentic genuine silk. Some manufacturers say silk , but you’re buying satin. Definitely not the same thing. Sometimes even if it says silk, do your homework. They will often throw some other fiber into the mix. Be cautious. Silk is expensive but worth it. ❣️
Mine does that like crazy :( I get so jealous of seeing girls that only need to brush their hair once a day, and it just looks perfect for the entire day. That’s part of the reason why I’m getting my hair cut shorter so I won’t have to deal with that as much
I had glorious, thick, long hair till I was 66. At that time I stopped coloring it just in time to get hit with severe Covid. My hair was fine and healthy for the next year. My doctor retired and and her replacement changed my thyroid med and my hair started falling out! The thyroid med has been readjusted but I think I’ll start the vitamin D again. I also am trying to eat jello because along with the hair problems my nails are flaking away. Your video was very helpful, I am praying for great hair for all of us. 💙 P.S. (3 months later) The Blowout Professor (TH-cam) has been very helpful re: products and instructions 😇
I wear wigs. I have them all possible styles and lengths. I wear short hair in the summer and go gradually longer towards winter, so in the winter I wear my hair just past my shoulders, and sometimes long when I go out. I camouflage the in between lengths with curlier wavy styles. Wearing wigs protects my own hair, I don't need to wash my hair as often and never need to use products, or even color. Doing this has caused my own hair to become much healthier and have even been able to grow it long for the first time in over 20 years. There are many realistic monotop lace front wigs these days that cost less then when I used to get my hair done, and I get complaments on my hair now, which I never did with my bio hair. I love my wigs :)
Actually using a fine tooth comb on fine hair and hair stylists do, causes your hair to look and feel smoother because it doesn't separate the strands as much as a wide tooth which makes it look less stringy.
Thank you for these great tips. I have very thin hair. I've been using organic coconut oil, once a week.I leave it as a mask. I leave it on my hair as long as I can. then I wash it out. It's transformed my hair. It's made my hair more shiny, more healthy and more manageable. I strongly recommend it. I also have highlights in my hair. I hope this helps someone with thin hair like mine. God bless.
Why don't you flip your hair over, bend and do the final cold rinse. Then you won't have to get the cold water over your body.Just on your hair. That's what I do. I do my whole hair washing routine like that. That way I can concentrate the shampoo on the scalp only and get it really clean. Great videos and tips BTW.
@@mn2638 actually if I use a shampoo bar or any alkaline hair washing powders it happens to me too. But if I use an apple cider vinegar or citric acid rinse or conditioner and wait for my hair to totally dry out before combing it doesn't tangle so much. But I guess it depends on hair texture too... more thicker hair will also tangle more i guess.
Pratibha George that is also what I do. If I washed my hair standing up straight I would get so many tangles in it and when I comb it so much would fall out!
Hey, it's your hair. You tell them that it is fragile and you prefer that it be treated gently. if they ignore you, just get up and walk out, but I bet they'll comply with your wishes. They're supposed to know a little something about hair types. LOL.
This is an old comment but you can absolutely find a hair stylist that can work with your fine/thin hair and make it look amazing! I had one who listened to all of my concerns and what I was wanting. She made some suggestions and it turned out so good!! I'm so sad that I moved too far away to see her now 😭
Have you ever tried Paul Mitchell’s The Detangler? I swear by it and have used it for YEARS. I use it all over my head and it never weighs down my hair, it eliminates static and allows the brush to glide through my hair with no damage. In a word, perfection. I use different shampoos but ALWAYS with The Detangler. Also, I love the Wet Brush.
Personally I love using henna to dye my hair, it has the benefit of thickening your hair as well as giving a pretty and long lasting color. I sound like an infomercial lol. But seriously, my hair tangles and breaks FAR less often now than it used to. I've been able to grow it out for the first time in awhile since I started using henna on my hair. 10/10 highly recommend. I use light mountain natural off of Amazon but there's other brands out there.
I'm so grateful for this... I have insanely thick and heavy hair... My youngest daughter has the most gorgeous red, fine hair. In March she started pulling it out of her head (subconsciously fidgiting) and ended up with massively broken and balding spots on her head! We've been scrambling to find solutions on our own (thanks covid!) and I randomly had the thought to check TH-cam for suggestions. So appreciative of your firsthand knowledge! I will be watching this with her so she learns, and understands why she NEEDS TO GET HER HAIR TRIMMED WHETHER SHE LIKES IT OR NOT! 😂 Thank you!! (Ps your earrings are adorable, I was eyeing them up the whole time!)
finally someone who understands the struggle of thin hair! ugh, I've been sick for the past two years and just recently this year have started loosing my hair as i got sicker. In March, after my heart surgeries I got diagnosed with Lupus :( so, now i have to find ways to make my hair look fuller, I cut it to let it help grow.. but im so insecure about it :(
this may sound like a strange tip, but because my water pressure is so high, I sit down in the shower! it's just much more gentle; it's helped me avoid losing hair and distance myself from the heat of the water.
Dude here. Thank you for this video! For my entire life I’ve had short hair; my dad was always against me growing my hair out (which I find amusing because I’ve seen pictures of him in high school) Sadly my dad passed away in June 2021, and I haven’t cut my hair since. As strange as it sounds, it’s not because my dad is no longer here that I haven’t cut it, but more in his honor of his memory that I haven’t cut my hair. That said, I have very fine hair and *a* *lot* *of* *it* and I’ve noticed how easily it breaks now that it’s about shoulder length. I want to take care of my hair and allow it to be as full as possible with minimal damage, but as I’ve never allowed it to get this length, I have no idea what I’m doing. Any and all tips are very welcome, so this video is awesome for me.
2drops of castor oil in shampoo! I’ve been doing hair for 😳 30 years, best trick for fine, bleach damaged hair... Castor oil will grow your hair fast when applied to the scalp as well, pre-shampoo, once a week...
Quick question- what size bottle of shampoo do u add the castor oil too?? Thanks for ur helpful tip. I'm gonna try it. My Joico K-pak shampoo is 1 liter- for damaged, colored hair. How many drops do I need without making my hair greasy?
I have the same hair type as you and I would like to add another really good suggestion because all of yours were really good. A boar bristle brush is a fine haired persons best friend. I use one once in the morning and once before I go to bed on the days that I don’t shampoo. I start at the nape of my neck and brush forward all the way through for about two minutes and then I go from front to back distributing all those natural oils evenly.
Tie it in a loose bun? HAHAHAHA. No. My hair is so fine and thin, I can't tie it no matter what. Especially in a loose bun. I've tried it once, but the next morning, the tie comes off and my hair is tangled to each other. So yeah, your hair is still better than mine. Other tips are great for me though. Thanks for sharing.
Yeah I'd never tie my hair up to sleep. But if I need to tie it up during the day I use those spiral hair bobbles. They add more support and don't have as much friction as fabric.
If I bun or braid it before bed it ends up being a frizzy mess. Especially if my hair is slightly wet which it usually is bc I shower before bed *sigh*
I have thin hair and I can never get it to be voluminous. However, my hair is never too tangled in the morning. I sleep with it down to allow it to rest since I wear it in a ponytail everyday and when I wake up the next morning, my ends might have 1 or 2 tangles but it's fairly easy to brush.
I've started using the Herbal Essence bio:renew shampoos and I love them, I really feel like my hair is being cleaned. It's made a huge difference to the overall volume of my hair. And I've started shampooing twice in one shower. So I'll shampoo, condition and then lightly shampoo again. I find that although I'm careful only to condition the tips, it still manages to creep up close to my roots. Another trick I've found for fine hair is to use a volume mousse on my roots, gently blow dry the roots only, with my head upside down and leave the ends to dry naturally with little twists or something for a gentle wave. This keeps my hair looking fresh for so long and I only have to shampoo like twice a week (with a little help from dry shampoo).
I have been using these ideas in the video for years😊 I have had very fine hair for 66 yrs! I've been told I look so much younger than I'm am...my face skin is really good shape with only 2 very tiny wrinkles. It's my hair that's hard to handle with! I do take very good care with my medium blonde hair (no grey!) I don't bleach or color it, I trim it myself, it's not dry or damaged. I dont even need a hairdryer! I have the length below my shoulders so I can I can wear it up. I do take supplements but no big difference. My mother had very fine hair so it's a heredity factor for me. She dyed her hair, perm it, teezed it & lots of stiff hairspray....wow!!! A lot of work!!! She never went to salon. I've had to wear hats, scarves, clip on hair pieces or a wig to go out in public. Sometimes I don't want to go outside because it's too much trouble. I've used a lot of hair products...it's so costly!🙁 *I haven't tried the cold water technique but I'm not going to like it. I have thin skin also & HATE the cold!!! Maybe...I'll try using ice cold water in a spray bottle on my wet hair after the shower with my thick terry cloth robe🙄🤕
Your hair will look thicker too if it's all the same color! Also, for people with naturally curly/straight hair, don't straighten it because straight hair looks thinner. Don't have very long hair if it's super thin. For my hair, if I'm doing a bun then I'll wrap my hair around a scrunchie (so that you don't see the scrunchie), and it'll make it feel way thicker. Or I will do like a side braid, and have a long piece of fabric that I intertwine with my hair, and it adds thickness that way. For bald spots at the top I use Febron (it's like a brown powder that sticks to your hair) but you can use any hair thickening spray thing.
I have fine hair in an area with hard water. My stylist recommended that I use apple cider vinegar instead of conditioner. The vinegar keeps buildup from occurring and my hair is silky soft. I also only wash my hair every 5 to six days. It took a few years to move from daily washing to what it is now, but definitely worth it.
I’m so glad I found her. I have thin hair too and it is hard to find a good hairstyle for me to do. My hair gets messy every 10 minutes after I brush it. I wish I had the pleasure of thick hair. Just imagine being able to wake up in the morning just brush your hair and leave. (I have to do a whole process).
I have fine hair and discovered that massaging castor oil into my hair before bed has helped with improving the density and thickness-- gotta wash it out in the morning tho. Also, I use joico leave in conditioner detangler and Aveeno leave in conditioner which helps with static. I use biotin shampoo, no sulfates and wash daily. never use a brush or comb, always just my fingers. blunt/bob cuts are definitely the best for fine hair.
For thin hair i think Zhooch hair claw clips work best. I buy them on Amazon. I love their Precious coins clips. Don't use elastics. They damage your hair!
*Love this vid girl! In regards to Dry Shampoo id totally use this sparingly as it also drys fine hair out which isnt good. I also love using my wide tooth comb in the shower to brush the conditioner through my hair. so much easier to deal with when i get out*
Do you not lose even more hair when you comb it through, the fact it's wet? Scared to comb hair when wet as feel it's going to cause even more breakage
Hey Sir Neil, nope for my fine hair this makes it so much easier to deal with when i get out of the shower :) I put the conditioner in and let it sit on my hair for about 2-3mins then i use a wide tooth comb to brush it through from the ends to about mid way. My hair gets very tangled when its wet so it just helps with the aftermath when you get out of the shower. I definitely would not recommend using a small toothed comb as that will ruin your hair in the shower
I agree the dry shampoo is loaded w/chemicals besides being drying. A healthier version is to use alittle cornstarch for blondes & a little cocoa powder for darker hair-also it smells good and absorbs well....
Great vid! I also use a silk night bonnet to protect my hair from friction. A silk pillowcase is another option-it is more gentle on hair than the typical cotton pillowcase.
This was so relatable! My hair literally looks the same as yours. My hair is so fine and thin and i felt like i never saw anyone with the same hair as me. This was very helpful! ❤❤❤
I love that I came across your videos. To find someone with thin hair is definitely helpful. I have had thin hair, but have recently noticed it thinning more due to a product I was using. I have since stopped but now trying to get my hair healthy and to regrow. I was an avid everyday washer because my tend to have oiler hair after one day but I'm slowly getting out of that phase. Again Thank you
Hello to all my fine/thin hair suffering sisters out there! Thank you, Erin, for your video and I can tell you know what it's like to live with fine hair. I've tried all of these things and they do help somewhat, but I've learned there is a difference between thin and fine hair. I actually have a lot of hair (according to all stylists I've been to, so it's not thin) BUT the texture is very very baby fine. So, in the hands of a good stylist, my hair can look decent. However, any hairstyle I do falls down almost immediately. I've spent all my life trying to make my hair look fuller, but haven't found anything that really works. I never give up hope though! One day someone will come up with a product that does work....?
Oooh... I've been growing my hair for over 3 years and it seems impossible to exceed my shoulders 😕 I've already thought of building kind of signature hairstyle based on this sorrow but I still don't want to give up 😁 Yeah, genes have no mercy sometimes!
My mother and grandmother claim they can't grow their hair past this length either! But my hair fine and relatively thinner than average, but the longest mine has been was belly button length. You can do it! We just can't wash our hair all the time or use styling products. You kinda have to embrace the flat straightness for a while until it gets long and beautiful and shiny. Our hair types do have some advantages!
what I do is that I shower normally and when I wanna wash my hair I get out of my shower and bend over the edge and just wash my hair (sorry about my english I hope it's clear how I meant it). It's much better and easier to get used to the cold water only on your head.
Thanks for the video! I may have missed it, but a definite "don't" is roughly drying your hair with a towel. I have very fine, straight hair that refuses to cooperate. It's almost impossible to get any kind of volume. I have tried not washing it every day, or even every other day, but it's soooo greasy on day two. I have given it months, and I have tried dry shampoo and it seems to make no difference at all! I switched to Non toxic products a while ago, and finally found a shampoo and conditioner I like (Raw Sugar) but I still wake up looking like I slept in an oil pan. Grrrr. If I could make a wash last more than a day - and squeeze a little volume out of it, I'd be a happy camper! Oh...and let's not even mention the middle of my forehead cowlick from hell! :p
I feel your pain. I can wash my hair tonight and wake up looking like someone soaked my head in Crisco. I have mismatched cowlicks on my forehead. Washing my hair every morning and creative blowdrying to tame the cowlicks is a must.
Do not avoid washing your hair. You can clog your follicles and kill them. Fine hair tends to get super oily so washing more often is actually healthier.
My hair is like this but much more frizzy. I HATE IT! I can't put it up in a ponytail because it gives me a headache. I can do a loose scruncy but I have so many fly aways now. I used to color my hair but stopped. I wish there was a way to color it and it would strengthen like when I get my nails done. It just breaks so bad when its wet. ugh the challeneges. Also, static in the winter. I wish I could love my hair
I do all of these too best i could recommend is the same points you touched on and my hair grows to my lower back. I find the longer it is the more stringy it looks. Unfortunately I do not look good with short hair so long it stays.
Sara D I disagree. My hair does well with them as it's very long and gets tangled easily. Id rather have silicone and make sure to do a deep clense once a month than have horrible breakage from detangling
@@FallingSkywardz yup, same here. I went silicone free for a year and I lost half of my hair. Some of it broke in half and I now have these chunks of hair that are way shorter than the rest which makes the rest of my hair look even thinner. It's a nightmare...
A blunt haircut has made all of the difference for me! And I love Living Proof’s leave in conditioner. And I use a blow dry protector (I prefer air drying, but I also shower at night.) Also, I only curl my hair once a week! I use Paul Mitchel’s Hot of the Presses, which is a light hold hairspray with heat protection. I spray each section really well and then curl when it’s dry. The curls hold for days (usually they don’t last more than a few hours) and don’t feel crunchy.
I like putting on conditioner and a couple drops of oil 20 minutes before I shampoo and then after cleansing, rinse with diluted vinegar for shine and volume!
Listen, I don't work for anybody or have anything to gain, but high end products will change your life. I'm not even kidding how much nicer it made my hair. Ask your stylist what brand would be best for you. It's so worth it!
I hate it when people claim ‘ I have fine hair but a lot of it’ and also people who have normal Hair and claim it’s fine/thin. So Thankyou to this lady for being realistic
I have fine hair and what works best for me is if I condition my ends first and THEN shampoo the top. I do NOT brush my hair out when it is wet, nor do I towel dry it. My hair is always pretty tangly when wet so if I try to brush it, it is much more susceptible to breakage. I wrap my hair in a towel to soak up some of the water, and after I take it out of the towel, I flip my head over and shake it around just a little, enough to separate my hair. I then separate my hair more by pulling apart big sections stuck together with my fingers. I try to shower early enough to where I have plenty of time for it to air dry, and I also do not put it up when I sleep. I haven't brushed my hair in about three days, but if I run my fingers through my hair, there are no tangles! I also haven't cut it for several months and have no split ends. I use shampoos that are for strengthening hair instead of adding volume, as this helps to keep your hair healthy. I avoid heat products and rarely put my hair into a pony tail, and if I do, I make sure it isn't super tight! I hope this helps anyone else with fine hair to have healthier hair!
i also started taking cold showers and not only have i gotten used to them ( i dare say i even enjoy them now, especially after workouts!) but it has helped sooo much!!! i also agree that products weigh down my hair and they manage to make my hair greasy in literal hours but i often put in mousse in and towel dry my hair and then sleep with curlers on or some hairstyle that results in voluminous curls!
Great tips. I've been rinsing products with cold water for 40yrs and it DOES make a tremendous difference. It gives shine and lift everytime. Interested I what dry shampoo you use since I also have dark hair. Trying to get the right one that smells nice and doesn't leave an ashy look.
also- "cute messy bun" is not in our vocabulary.

It just looks mine a small meatball on my head, not like a luxurious big bun, just a small ball sitting there

What I do is that I have thin hair and I hate it down but I also don’t like ponytails so what I do that looks like a bun is that I pull my hair up like I’m doing a ponytail but then I like insert my hair inside the ponytail (idk how to explain it) and then I would spread it so it looks more full

But am trying to get over it
Get some nutrition. Vit b...vit d n fish oil should help grow your hair

@@gueriita3535 You don't need a specific brand. It's just basic vitamins that help. D, Omega 3, and Biotin (B) all appear to have scientific backing as helping with hair. YMMV - I'm not sure I can tell the difference or not after trying.
Nice video - a lifetime of fine hair issues - it is like you are walking down the street and the wind is blowing your hair everywhere that is not attractive and yet you look around and no one elses hair seems to be moving...
j9andphoenix omg this is so freaking valid. I think this all the time.

Thin hair is not the same as medium/full hair that's thinning. Just fyi in case anybody gets anxious about it. If you've had thin hair since you were 8-9, there's nothing to worry about.

There is fine hair and thin hair 2 different things. You can have a head full of fine hair. Fine is the diameter, thin is the amount
I love this bc whenever I usually look up ‘thin/fine hair’ - old people come up and that rlly boosts my ego
Or people with super thick hair who are complaining about how thin/fine their hair is to get attention
I wish I had thick hair 😔
A lot of people look nice with fine / thin hair but I don’t. It just goes flat and doesn’t do anything, and gets greasy and damaged and has no volume. It’s difficult to do hairstyles. Fml
Edit: my hair has improved in health after using coconut conditioner!
i’m guessing that your hair is naturally thin..?
it took me a VERY long time to finally accept my hair, we just have to realise that no matter what we do our hair will forever be thin, but honestly i think thin hair is gorgeous and there’s so many pros to having thin hair that we can brag about to people with thick hair 😂
Mary K That’s exactly how my hair is.
Is it just me, but throughout the day my hair starts to look “strandy” like kinda oily even if I washed it the day before
Oh definitely. I have to wash my hair in the morning or it looks awful by noon.
@@mellamokori I wash my hair in the morning and by the afternoon it looks frizzy and greasy !!
Argh

@@MissFly Yeah, and some can have up to 15 times the amount of hair and length, and still be in the same price category,.

What is the name of the Neem shampoo?
Sounds great....if you'd do it FOR me. LOL. It sounds like it would take a team to do all of that!
Anybody have advice for me?
1. If I don't wash my hair everyday then it gets SUPER greasy.
2. I have MAJOR baby hairs that wisp out and won't go down right in the middle of my hairline. (Also throughout my hairline)
3. My hair is very thin at the ends!
4. My hair breaks so much every single day. I find hairs in my hands all the time.
5. My hair has no life to it and it's flat and very thin.
Finally, 6. I will brush my hair and within a couple minutes it's tangly again!
Same here 😥
we might be the same person, tears down :( pleeease contact me, we can share what we use to save our fine hair with each other
Ece B I don't use any product in my hair. What do you use?
Ece B I don't know what to use
My hair gets super greasy too if I don’t wash it daily. One stylist told me to shampoo only the top scalp, gently massage the roots, then condition everyday. I did so and I can say that my hair is so much better than before. It’s smoother and so much easier to comb and manage. I also don’t have a lot of hair fall anymore, unlike before.
Thin hair really messes with you more than one way ..
Yeah, I'm seeing a lot of low self-esteems on here, when it comes to hair.
Yep. The slight air tickling of the hair when it moves by hot dry air due to heaters in winter is relentless! I can't concentrate at my creative work when the tickling hair movement starts. Its constant even when I try to lay down to sleep.
I have very thin hair and I have tips (edit: sorry if they don't work for you)

My fine hair gets greasy and messy really fast and it drives me crazy. It looks clean when I wash it in the morning but after a few hours it looks bad again
I have this problem as well. I know how bad it is to wash your hair every day and I've tried skipping, my hair just ends up so greasy and nasty feeling that I can't take it.
I cycle through two pillow cases every week, always keeping a clean one on my pillow. I also try to limit how much I touch my hair through the day as I find it makes it greasy faster.
saaaaaaame!!!!!!!!!
Same ! I HAVE to wash my hair everyday or else my hair is absolutely greasy by the next day.
Your shampoo might not be right for you. Go silicone free. Dry shampoo and texturising spray is your best friend.
Amanda Nash can you tell me what shampoo you use, that is good for your scalp? I totally agree with the dry shampoo point!!

I have thin hair, and it feels like I can’t style it because I don’t have a lot of hair. It sometime brings my self esteem down.
To keep my fine hair healthy and feeling a little thicker is I do a coconut oil mask every other day. I just let mine sit for 30 minutes or so and then take a shower. Remember to use shampoo in the shower to get all of the extra oil off.
Do you mind sharing which brand you use?

Great video. I’d like to mention sleeping on a SILK pillowcase is very beneficial four fine hair actually any type hair and helps with wrinkles. Note: I stated silk. Does anyone else feel like your hair becomes stringy if you don't brush it enough? Cause mine will be stringy like half way through school

Why don't you flip your hair over, bend and do the final cold rinse. Then you won't have to get the cold water over your body.Just on your hair. That's what I do. For my entire life I’ve had short hair; my dad was always against me growing my hair out (which I find amusing because I’ve seen pictures of him in high school)
Sadly my dad passed away in June 2021, and I haven’t cut my hair since.
2drops of castor oil in shampoo! I’ve been doing hair for 😳 30 years, best trick for fine, bleach damaged hair...
Castor oil will grow your hair fast when applied to the scalp as well, pre-shampoo, once a week...
It doesn't make your hair oily at all?
I love castor oil but never thought about putting it in my shampoo

Zo Arai n
Try a braid instead
If I bun or braid it before bed it ends up being a frizzy mess. Especially if my hair is slightly wet which it usually is bc I shower before bed *sigh*
I have thin hair and I can never get it to be voluminous. However, my hair is never too tangled in the morning. I sleep with it down to allow it to rest since I wear it in a ponytail everyday and when I wake up the next morning, my ends might have 1 or 2 tangles but it's fairly easy to brush.
Good video. The struggles of fine hair! I use diluted apple cider vinegar for a final rinse after I shampoo. Adds so much shine to my fine long hair.
Great tip! Thank you!
Dry shampoo is life for fine hair! I like to spray it in my hair before bed and it helps me wake up with more texture and volume.
That's a good tip! Thanks :)

I have been using these ideas in the video for years😊
I have had very fine hair for 66 yrs!
I've used a lot of hair products...it's so costly!🙁
*I haven't tried the cold water technique but I'm not going to like it. I have thin skin also & HATE the cold!!! Maybe...I'll try using ice cold water in a spray bottle on my wet hair after the shower with my thick terry cloth robe🙄🤕
Don’t know why I’m bothering watching this because I’ll never follow any of the tips lmao. I’m the worst. I’ll have no hair left soon.
I like Velcro rollers and let my hair air dry. I get great volume that lasts. I have a layered ear length Bob.
I definitely can’t do dry shampoo! It weighs my hair down so much!
I recommend a loose braid/plait overnight, that’s what I do otherwise my hair knots easily.
yeah, and i find that a loose plait makes my hair wavy, which naturally adds a bit of volume
Yeah frizz ball
Great advice!! I think Ive heard all of these things before at different times. But you pulled them together perfectly in one place. Thanks So Much!!
*Love this vid girl! In regards to Dry Shampoo id totally use this sparingly as it also drys fine hair out which isnt good. I also love using my wide tooth comb in the shower to brush the conditioner through my hair. so much easier to deal with when i get out*
Great tips, thank you! :)
Happy you liked it!
One day someone will come up with a product that does work....?
i have fine + thin hair (its genetic) and there is literally nothing i can do
Great video, thank you!
Now to try and find a brush like that...
Yahssss we have the exact same hair type!
Hair masks are a MUST to keep my ends smooth and silky! So i would use it in place of my conditioner maybe twice a week 💕
Thanks dear for this video, but problem is whatever i do for my thin hair i just can't never grow it longer more than shoulder length
Sabiha Pia same here! If it gets longer than shoulder length, mine gets so hay-looking.
heyitsheatherc hahaha same pinch
You can try inversion method
Finally a person with real fine hair like mine
This video was so helpful! I have thin hair and I think I'm going to start trying some of these tips (not sure about the cold shower though lol)
hahaha yeah that one is the hardest. I just turn it cold right at the end to rinse the conditioner out!
what I do is that I shower normally and when I wanna wash my hair I get out of my shower and bend over the edge and just wash my hair (sorry about my english I hope it's clear how I meant it). It's much better and easier to get used to the cold water only on your head.
Oh I've never tried that! Thank you, I'll try that the next time : )
Whenever I look for hair style/hair care tutorials there's only ppl with thick full hair. Thank you for representing us 💖
Thanks for the video!

Unfortunately I do not look good with short hair so long it stays.
i would say one of the best advice for fine hair is not using silicones, especially in shampoos and conditioners!
And I use a blow dry protector (I prefer air drying, but I also shower at night.)
Also, I only curl my hair once a week! I use Paul Mitchel’s Hot of the Presses, which is a light hold hairspray with heat protection. I spray each section really well and then curl when it’s dry. The curls hold for days (usually they don’t last more than a few hours) and don’t feel crunchy.
I've heard really good things about the Paul Mitchell products!
This video is every thing I ever wanted to know about my hair ;_; thank you!!
I like putting on conditioner and a couple drops of oil 20 minutes before I shampoo and then after cleansing, rinse with diluted vinegar for shine and volume!
Ahhh I love your channel! Finally someone with hair like myself. It’s such a struggle sometimes haha c:
I feel you! ❤️
You have grown up so much since your first videos. 5 stars!
Listen, I don't work for anybody or have anything to gain, but high end products will change your life. I'm not even kidding how much nicer it made my hair. Ask your stylist what brand would be best for you. It's so worth it!
Look into the porosity of your hair. That helps a lot with teaching us how to properly care for it. It makes a HUGE difference
How do you check for that?
Can I just say that I have been dying for this video!!!
🤗🤗❤️
Thanks Erin--these tips are helpful.
What would you suggest for someone who cannot go without blow drying? If my hair air dries, it’s frizzy, flat, and horrible.
Try on a lower heat setting! If I ever blow dry my hair I make sure it's on the lowest heat or on cool 💜
Deep condition your hair often. Spray apple cider n water mix before you wash. It can stay on like a leave in condition hair.
@@dbedazzling1 I have done this, but the smell of apple cider vinegar stays 'left in' for way longer than anyone would want it to.
@@MeatlessManhattan Really. I wash it out n no smell.
I hate it when people claim ‘ I have fine hair but a lot of it’ and also people who have normal
Hair and claim it’s fine/thin. So Thankyou to this lady for being realistic
Am i the only man having thin and fine hair and watching this😂
I have fine hair and what works best for me is if I condition my ends first and THEN shampoo the top.
We share the same hair😂😂 #hairbuddies ✋
My hair always breaks down in the lower ends..literally looks like a strand 😂😂
I have the same problem, Hridi! :(
586Rexford I feel ya 😢 keeping it short is my only true way to look somewhat okay
haha hair twins ❤️❤️
Ahhh! the strugle is real. I so want to grow my hair long again but its too thin
i also started taking cold showers and not only have i gotten used to them ( i dare say i even enjoy them now, especially after workouts!) but it has helped sooo much!!! i also agree that products weigh down my hair and they manage to make my hair greasy in literal hours but i often put in mousse in and towel dry my hair and then sleep with curlers on or some hairstyle that results in voluminous curls!
ohhh I love that tip! I've been looking into heatless curls so I may try that out!
What dry shampoo do you recommend?
Masha I have fine/thin hair as well and I recommend Batiste. It’s $7 at Walmart, the drug store or Ulta and it works wonders :)
Agree! I love the batiste one or the dove one ❤️
Unfortunately Batiste causes excessive hairfall from my roots!!!
I don't want to sound like a recording, but Batiste is cruelty free also. I only buy cf products. Period.
I use Batiste as well. I’ve tried almost every single brand there is and Batiste is just the best! I have pretty thin, dark blonde hair
Great tips. I've been rinsing products with cold water for 40yrs and it DOES make a tremendous difference. It gives shine and lift everytime. Interested I what dry shampoo you use since I also have dark hair. Trying to get the right one that smells nice and doesn't leave an ashy look.
