Wow this hit so hard for me 😭 I've never seen someone with hair so similar to my own and it's honestly so refreshing... I went through a very similar journey, except I did tape in extensions by MYSELF at home. The damage done in only 3 weeks was heartbreaking. It's been almost two years since taking them out and my hair is now thicker than it was before putting them in... Here's some of my biggest/best tips. - Stop styling with heat. If your hair is this fine, it is not worth the damage. - Get a scalp brush and rosemary oil. Make sure to dilute the rosemary oil with coconut oil (2-3 drops of rosemary to about a tbsp of coconut oil) and massage into scalp (I do mine in the shower) for about 5 minutes before you wash. Do this with the oil solution 2-4 times a week and use the scalp brush every day for 5-10 minutes. This stimulates your hair follicles and promotes hair growth. - Shorter hair cuts are best for hair as fine/thin as shown in this video, most of our hair is much thinner at the ends so getting rid of that helps create an illusion that the hair is thicker than if you were to leave those frail ends there. - Take pumpkin seed oil, there have been studies done showing this can help with strengthening the hair shaft because pumpkin seed oil is a great source of magnesium. It also helps with maintaining a healthy scalp due to the zinc in it as well as it promotes hair growth (growth rate and length of the hair) due to the abundance of nutrients in the oil. You can take this orally or apply it topically. I personally have been taking it orally! - Don't be afraid to wash every day if you feel like it helps. It is not damaging contrary to popular belief. My hair is so fine that it gets greasy very quickly and that can make ANYONE'S hair look much thinner, but especially people with hair like ours. So don't be afraid to wash every day if it makes you feel better :) Much luck to all of my fellow fine-haired beauties. It can be so hard on your confidence, but just know we could be dealt MUCH worse cards and everything will be okay. You're amazing with or without hair ❤️
You should try arrow root powder in your hair over night (on the night of the day you washed your hair). This is the ONLY thing that has allowed me to go a day without having to wash my hair. I have tried everything, my hair is extremely fine, flat and sparse and gets greasy the same day I wash it (by evening time). Honestly it has been a game changer for my hair and my sanity. ❤
I am living in Austria and pumpkin seed oil is a national treasure here. We eat it every day in every form and my hair is still thin and little. But head stimulating with a good brush is very good 😉
When you do a bugdet, you consider every details of your life, right? Living, food, clothes, medical treatments, insurance, and among others, traveling. I can imagine, organising an Europe-trip is also not a question of a two months of saving. So i suppose, she had more pockets to fill at once @@jaimestl3609
One can tell how hard it was for you to talk about that topic. Thank you for still doing it and for making people feel less alone in their hair journey! You've shown big strength here which requires confidence (since you mentioned lacking it sometimes). Looking up to you!
You sounded like you were on the verge of tears this whole video, i want to give you props for having the strength to share this experience because i know how hard it can be. ❤
Fine hair thin hair sister here. I felt every bit of your emotion. You were so brave both going into it and coming out of it. Thank you so much for sharing your experience because we're a group in great numbers but much overlooked. So thank you for that hair extension 101 for fine thin hair. I learned so much. So genuine and so authentic you are. I'll bet you looked absolutely glamorous at your wedding.
I went thru this as well. Similar story. Really a confidence boost. I had tape in and the glued in ones attached to a few strands with Keratin glue. They hurt my head for a good few weeks. You feel it's worth the pain. After spending $800, the strands were literally breaking off and only lasted about 6 to 8 weeks. I waited for my hair to heal, and pros told me tape ins would be better for me. They were not sliding out, but they caused mega damage as well. I had a mullet after I stopped doing them. I also tried a wig, and it looked so unnatural on me. I even got it from a pro. 8 years later, I gave my hair a long break on blond highlights. My hair is much better. I swear if you color your hair, K18 has been a miracle for my hair. Going to try clip ons again for special occasions. I am so glad you're sharing this with others to save someone else the misery. BTW it was primarily the hair extensions that cause the damage.
First, THANK YOU for waiting, and sharing this entire journey in one video. My thin, fine hair has been my biggest hurdle my entire life. I appreciate you being vulnerable and sharing your entire experience. I have gone through the hair extension journey over and over. I have tried several different types (bead, keratin, tape, clip) and each time, regardless of what I have used, there is obvious damage after. It is important to find a stylist that is educated, and can help you treat your hair right before, during, and after the extensions. Taking breaks and following good care definitely helps reduce the damage. I have learned that the more permanent extensions are great for an occasion that might last a couple of weeks (engagement, parties, weddings, vacations), but for day-to-day, clip-ins are a great alternative.
I honestly can relate. I am depressed every day about having thin/fine hair. When I'm out and about, all I can think about is how much nicer everyone else's hair is and how they just get to walk through life with thick hair, not even realizing what a blessing it is.
@@BebeDaullwe can’t waste our time on these emotions! Also, truly no one notices or cares. My hair is super thin now but … my health is good. Family is good. Can’t focus on these things. ❤
omg I just cried! My hair is like yours!!! My hair always felt like a burden ! I Think people with "normal" hair could never understand this! Thank you for this video.
This made me feel so seen, best video on thin hair I’ve seen so far (such a lack of content on people embracing this hair type)! Thanks you, I really enjoyed watching this!
I had the same issues for a while. I tried fixing my own hair until I come to a conclusion I’m just getting tape in hair extensions. I actually do them myself they don’t damage the hair. I use alcohol it take them out and now I have the hair I have always wanted. I think you’re thinking about it too much .. go get your hair extensions and make them even longer and beautiful and just enjoy that we live in an era that we could get Hair Extentions. You’re adorable and Jesus loves you call on him.
I am losing my hair, I am on minoxidil + supplements now and I am wearing tape in hair extensions without any damage nor regrets! I am living my best life again! I had to remove my tape in due to my hair loss to find out if it was the hair extensions and tried so many oil and serum. in fact I just needed a dermatologist and I asked her if hair extensions where the cause? it wasn't at ALL.
She said that my hairloss was due to traumatic events that I went through last year. I had a deficit in vitamins D & B12. she said that my "balding spot" were not located where I had hair extensions, which is why I can still do them. she explained to me that when wearing hair extensions *the hair gets stuck inside the tape-in for ~ 1 months which and most of these hair would have felt because we are losing hair on a daily basis naturally. so when you remove the tape-in, you have shedding due to this. she told me to keep wearing hair extensions if I wanted. Also, to stop these serum and hair oil, which promotes hair growth because it does suffocate my scalp. she gives me vitamins D, B12, Dexpanthenol, biotin supplements, + minoxidil 2% for 3 months, then I see her again.
Like she said…it’s not the extensions themselves that are so damaging. It’s the process of styling and trying to blend them in with our super thin, fine hair that’s a COMPLETELY different texture from the extensions so it doesn’t look right at all if we just let it air dry or something. So we end up using the straightener, curling iron, etc. I had hand tied extensions. Just one row. That row is sandwiched between my very fragile hair. So when I use the heat tools, I’m holding them on longer than usual because my hair is thicker. All along it’s actually frying off our hair. It’s the first thing that comes in contact with the heat. No one warned me about the potential of this happing and to be careful or anything. Super upsetting.
Honestly, from the bottom of my heart, you have such a gorgeous, pretty face that you look the best when your hair is pulled back, so it is a perfect scenario for you. Put in a beautiful clip and you don't have to go through a lot of the fuss that a lot of us have to go through with thicker hair.❤
that's literally not even the point. I have similar hair type and i know how much it hurts to have less hair and always having to tie it up or clip it up. There is no other hairstyle for us and even on occasions, we can never do anything new with our hair. It just always has to be in a goddamn hairclip. While all the other girls have their beautiful thick hair down, wearing dresses and we just have to look like an egg in every picture with our clipped up because if we let our hair down, we know how it's gonna look and it hurts so bad. So trust me, no one would ever ever want thin hair instead of thick hair because they do not know how it feels. And you can always get haircuts that thins your hair out a little and it looks so gorgeous on women who have thick hair! There are so many options. As for us, all we can do is just pray no one looks at our hair and has an opinion towards it
I agree that she looks so pretty with it is pulled back with a wonderful face like that. I am aging and with my face shape it is hard emotionally as it doesn't look so good and I have a VERY wide part now if you can call it a part. So much loss.
Had every kind of extensions over ten years and went to the top salons all I can say I lost so much hair when they came out ,my hair is very thin ,I did feel glamourise wearing them but had to say goodbye to them as it was destroying what hair I had left ,not to mention the cost .Your beautiful Taylor look gorgeous without them much love lovely lady xxx💕💕💕💕
Thanks so much. I am travelling a different path. I am a very active 76 year old and am struggling with fine thin hair. I have been trying to create extensions that do not show through and that is difficult. Every journey I hear about helps me to refine the design but it also helps me to accept the limitations. Great job explaining the psychology of less than in today’s over abundance of hair. We are not our hair and it does not reflect who we are. Accepting that is essential to being positive about ourselves. Kathy
every time i saw someone talk about their fine/thin hair, and its still 4x thicker than mine... felt bad, lol! I thought i was just an alien, and had the thinnest hair in the world. I wear it in a banana clip ALL the time, now. Womp. Thank you for making this! We have very similar hair. My ponytail would be thinner than the circumference of my pinky finger. Been like this my whole life
I have super thin hair too. I just wear it cut in a pixie and it looks like “normal” thickness. Any heat styling just breaks it right off. I thought about extensions but I don’t have the budget. Thanks so much for sharing this! I agree with everyone who said they like your shorter hair. It suits you better and makes you look more mature and professional, and just pretty.
I def feel your pain and frustration. I’ve been wearing wigs for the last 4 years because my natural hair is so thin and fragile and now I just turned 52 and I’m dealing with health and hormone issues and I believe I have alopecia. Not been diagnosed but I’m quit sure that’s what it is. Extensions have gone thru my mind several times but I literally don’t even have enough hair on top to hold the hair. So you’re doing better than me girlfriend. I think you are beautiful and thanks for being so brave and vulnerable😊
I just got extensions and I had the same emotional experience in the bathroom by myself just an awe of how great my hair looks and how long I waited to look this good only took me 30 years to figure out. I’m so confident with long hair. lol this video was so informative. I love it thank you new subscriber.❤
I’ve tried halo, clip in, and tape extensions. I didn’t have any issues, but they are costly and the tape in I didn’t like shampooing my scalp. I’ve been rethinking that i may want them again, but the upkeep is such a pain. I think a lot of women can relate to your video so thank you for sharing ❤
Thank you for sharing this. It is the most honest and accurate account about fine/thin hair that I have seen. You GET it, when we talk to other people about having thin hair they think they get it but they DONT. Everything you said I really resonated with and I’m super grateful you shared this. Thanks again! I have yet to try any kind of extension but I covet them on a daily basis!❤❤❤
Thank you for sharing your journey, and for doing so without hiding or masking the emotional side of your struggle! I too have baby fine hair. I am told I have A LOT of it, but my ponytail is still pitiful and wanting 😐 I’ve been considering extensions and have a consultation scheduled, so seeing your video today was SO important & timely. I was ignoring the fact that there will be “aftermath” that I’ll have to deal with at some point and time. I needed to hear about that. I may still go through with it, but at least I know what to expect now. Again, thank you!!!
Omgosh I literally typed in the search bar “hair after hair extensions” and watched your whole video. First off, you’re adorable so keep shining! But oh boy I had sew ins for a year, and I just couldn’t afford them anymore honestly… so the day I got them out I was horrified how my hair looked. I feel like I have no hair anymore. So much falls out in the shower, it’s so thin, I wish I would have never got them to begin with. I’ve tried everything besides hair growth vitamins because I refuse to fall for that crap. My hair has to heal from the trama those extensions had on it. It’s sad women want beautiful thick long hair but don’t realize in the long run the extensions are gonna do more harm.
Hi, Taylor. I wish I'd seen this video back in 2000, when I got my keratin bond extensions. But back then neither you nor TH-cam were a thing! I have hair like yours, and the extensions gave me the butt-length hair I'd always wanted but could never grow. I loved it so much, but oh, the upkeep! I was afraid to blow dry because I thought the heat would melt the bonds, and I didn't want to shower in the morning because it would take forever to air dry. So I would shower at night and go to bed with damp hair. I slept in braids, but because my hair was damp, it got matted around the bonds. I was always going back to the salon to get the mats undone and the damaged extensions replaced. I am now 65 and have managed to grow my hair to my waist over the past 2 1/2 years by taking steps to reduce breakage. I quit coloring. I only wash every 6-8 days and use professional-grade products, a leave-in conditioner and oil on the ends on wash day. I detangle with my fingers, pulling knots out sideways instead of downward. I sleep in a silk bonnet and wear protective styles, especially in winter (coarse wool sweaters and jacket zippers are not my friends!) Some people's hair is like a sturdy ceramic mug -- it can be neglected, even abused, and will resist breaking. Hair like ours is like a fine china teacup; we have to take extra care to keep it from breaking. That said, you are a beautiful young woman and would look good bald! You do look lovely with shorter hair, but if you want growth, it is possible. Your fellow TH-camrs Katherine Sewing and The Blowout Professor are great sources of advice, the former on finger detangling and protective styles, and the latter on all things hair care. Best wishes on your upcoming wedding.
I have hair just like yours. Exactly. I recently got a halo hair extension. Look it up. No damage!! I take it out each night! I have one from Halo Couture and another from Sitting Pretty. The Sitting Pretty is my favorite because they make one specifically for thin hair and it blends better. Upkeep is minimal. You will be so happy!!!
It’s very comforting seeing someone who feels the same way about their hair as I do about mine online. I’m getting tape in extensions soon and for me it feels like some sort of milestone, after being very conscious and insecure about my fine hair. ❤️
Sweet sweet Taylor. You are so beautiful but, no one can discount your feelings about your thin hair. What a powerful vlog. Your emotions brought me to tears. 🫶
You are beautiful and I so appreciate you sharing such a vulnerable issue…I have always had very fine hair as well and now that I am 45 it has gotten even thinner…it is a tough thing no doubt and I believe many women cry together about this!! The way you spoke of loving yourself and having a wedding ti look forward ti completely warms my heart after watching you. You will be such a beautiful bride, your heart radiates love…bless you sweet girl. May your love last forever and your heart be warm every day. ❤❤❤
I’m getting great length extensions this upcoming week. I’ve had hand tied extensions once and had them removed within 2 weeks. They hurt, there was so much damage. I’m apprehensive to try these but your video gave me so much information to learn from regarding damage and better options to consider in the care of them. Thank you so much for this video. It’s the most helpful one I’ve seen online.
You are such a brave and sweet girl. I have similar hair and had a very similar extension story. I find that organic coconut oil has helped to stimulate growth as well as curb breakage. Also, you might want to consider instead of bleach highlights, asking for a high lift color on your highlights-so much less damaging. You are gorgeous and are blessed with a body ALL of us envy!
Thank you for making this. I feel like I have precisely the same hair as you and the same length. I have felt exactly the same emotions as you explain and this video has helped me see I am not the only one. ❤
thank you for speaking so honestly about this. i've had thin hair my entire life and it's one of my biggest insecurities. you look great, natural hair or extensions. also i love your voice it's so pleasant to listen to. edit: i think if you're worried about heat damage on your own hair in the future maybe try overnight no-heat curling methods? some of them are super easy (sock method, bathrobe tie method, scrunchie method) and look even better than heat curling imo and it would solve the problem of using too much heat on your natural hair.
Great way to explain whole process and outcome....from start to finish. I have always had fine hair, went through perms to give volume, lots of teasing and just use volumizers and hairspray. You’re lovely regardless. Enjoyed your wedding dress shopping video! Good luck with the growth of your channel
This is my favorite video you have ever done!! So open, honest and informative. You are beautiful no matter what but I definitely relate to the thin hair struggles and wanting to have naturally thicker hair that can be styled differently. It’s not even that really as much as how thicker hair feels. I used to love to braid my hair as a kid. Now I can’t do that. My naturally fine hair over time is not able to do the same styles. Extensions are damaging and I would rather see you do a fall occasionally. The cute cut does look lovely!!
I’d also recommend a halo hair extension if you’re ever feeling in the future like you want more length/thickness! It’s even less damaging than clip in hair extensions.
I have hair just like this, “baby fine” my whole life. So I definitely appreciate this! I was just considering extensions. So glad I came across your video❤
Taylor, you are such a beautiful young lady no matter what your hair looks like. Fine, thin hair is a real problem for many. I think you are on the right track in letting your hair reset & get healthier. I have the opposite problem with thick curly frizzy hair thanks to my Italian roots, but it is still a distress to me.
I had the same issue, my hair looks just like yours and I actually had the ‘moved up’ at 6 weeks and the removed 6 weeks later. I continued this process for nearly a year. I then tried sewn in extensions and it was a little better, but I couldn’t have them sewn in near the front of my head. I now use a Halo and it sits on my head with a fish wire and I remove it at night. BEST decision ever
Thank you so much for sharing, Taylor. I have looked forward to this video since you mentioned doing it way back. My hair is fine, but worse, I have two hair loss conditions, as well, and therefore, extensions aren't for me. But I love to see others deal with disheartening hair issues with grace and honesty, so I commend you, this fine video, today, and your process, very, very much!!! Love to you, friend!!!
Taylor, you are the sweetest! I know how hard this was for you…we have the same hair type. I’ve been wearing extensions without rests since 2012. I eventually learned how to make and install my own to be cost effective about it because it is such an amazing confidence boost. I applaud you for embracing the process and your bio hair. It’s a very vulnerable and highly personal journey for women like us. You’re beautiful no matter what! 🌻🤍💫
I just had keratin bonded extensions in for 4 months. Hair dresser said it looked healthy and the hair loss was normal hair shed. I didn’t have any dreds as I’d looked after them carefully. But I am convinced that my hair is thinner than it was before the extensions. I’m not going to have them put back in for 6 months.
Hello, I just came across your video. I too have similar hair but for the past 8 years I’ve been having flat I tip micro bead extensions put in. They are from Donna Bella. It does not hurt when laying down, and there is no damaging glue. I buy the hair and have it adjusted every 7-8 weeks, the hair lasts about 9 months and I do not lose any hair when they get adjusted!. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made with my hair. If you do decide to try extensions again I would seriously consider looking into that. Best of luck on your hair journey!
I wear a mix of beaded hair wefts, I-tips and K-tips and my hair is definitely not thinner. In fact, it is growing and getting thicker each time. BUT...I will note that when I first take out my extensions, my hair 'seems' thinner. Not sure if it is all psychological or if more hairs shed than normal because of the trauma to the scalp, but in about a week, my hair feels back to normal. K18 and Olaplex are my best friends. I also bleach my hair every three months, so if my hair is getting thicker, extensions are not damaging. I will also say that I continue doing hair masks and treatments while I'm wearing extensions. Never stop. I care more about my own hair than the extension hair. I do notice that sometimes it is the natural hair left out of the bonds or wefts that gets damaged because of the styling. Thanks for sharing your experience.
I feel like you , I use the clip in hair extensions so I was looking for a video and how are the different ways to style clip in hair extensions on fine hair. I found plenty of videos on how to do different styles with the clip in hair extensions, but all of these women had already had thick beautiful hair so I thought this won’t work for me. My hair is around the same thickness as yours due to medication that I was taking, so it was refreshing to see that you know what thin here is, I don’t think I could ever go the extension method that you did because I am afraid of damage, but it did look really good on you and I appreciate, where you are coming from and how emotional it was for you as it is for most of us who just want normal hair it doesn’t have to be thick commercial type luxurious hair, but to just have hair that isn’t showing your scalp all the time and looks scruffy and scraggly I wouldn’t mind wearing my hair down or even that short it is so thin that it looks ridiculous, I have always had long hair when I was younger, all the way to the back of my knees and then for the rest of my life to my waist, I am now 64 years old and this thin short hair is not something I have been able to get used to and it is heartbreaking for me.
Hi dear, I have thin hair and I did same kind of hair extensions few years ago. It is very damaging for the hair. Best solution is to keep our own hair as it is with care and a lot of love ❤️
1st, you're beautiful. I had a similar experience with bead sewn in extensions. I wanted them for length and volume. They ended up matting in the back of my head. Before the extensions, my hair was down to my rear (all 7 strands). After their removal, it was just below my shoulders. Trying to regrow with baby steps
I have pretty much the same hair as you. I have used Keratin extensions for the last 2ish years and love them. My stylist only charges me for the cost of the hair and then about $300 per session for a cut, color, and moving the extensions up. Something to note: the hair that you saw when you took them out is probably your natural shedding. The keratin keeps them “in” your head. Happy to talk more about this if you or anyone has any questions!
I have hair just like yours, especially at the front where it is super fine and low density. I have been installing my own single sided tape ins for several years now and absolutely love them. They are really comfy from day one, I can’t say my hair is noticeably any thinner than pre tape ins (I imagine they do cause a little damage realistically, but I also think they protect my fragile hair) and I have so much more confidence 💕
This is my first time watching one of your videos and I’m subscribing! You are so sweet and I really enjoyed this video. You are truly special girl and I love your hair!
Hi, I have hair just like yours. I am older and went through chemo and I am just glad that I have Hair, but it is very much like yours. Can you tell me what kind of clips that you use? I’ve never done it before but I’d like to try it because I love the pictures of you with your hair extension clips in!
Great, great video, Taylor❤❤ I have EXACTLY the same hair as yours. Hair is my constant goal, no matter how much my husband tells he loves it and it is beautiful. My routine is following, no coloring, I was doing highlights before but then even that was not good for my hair, topical minoxidil once a day, water filter on the shower head, laser therapy helmet, olaplex #3 and nutrafol vitamins. Everything else had zero results, not the most expensive shampoos, masks etc. Hope it would be helpful.
I've never felt so understood .You are completely right about watching TH-cam videos about women talking about their hair loss journey and thinking that they have sooo much hair. I have genetically fine hair like you , have always felt so insecure about my hair. I remember being in my 20s spending 2-3 hours sometimes in the bathroom trifold mirror sifting through my fine hair, seeing the white scalp space and loathing myself . I go through periods in my life where it bother me less and other period where it deeply hurt me ...but nonetheless it's always a painful way topic for me . I'm currently postpartum and losing so much hair. I feel so completely alone In this journey and when I open up with my other postpartum friends they immediately tell me how beautiful my hair is or how they are experience postpartum hair loss as well. I know my friends are trying to be nice and comfort me but honestly they have 20-30x more hair than me and it just makes me feel worse . it's so strange how I've never met you in real life and yet you comfort me more than anyone in my life when it comes to my hair issues. I've watched your video 5x in the last few days and have was through every comments the people wrote below . Thank you so much for sharing your journey.
Not sure if you care, but a well-known Chinese company that sells clothes, accessories etc also sells Halo dupes, for 6 euro each...I got 2 and they look great. They have a wire so they don't pull on the hair. Company's name starts with an "S"...you know which one it is. Check them out sister! Edit: typo
Taylor this video is soo amazing!! I don’t have thin hair at all but I love the brake down and your experience…. You do look amazing with both long and short …. 💕💞
Taylor I’ve had fine thin hair all my life and the way to make it look thicker and fuller is to use Pantene volumizing shampoo and conditioner and Pantene hair jel on wet hair. Hair jel being the key factor also to set the hair in rollers. This method will give you thick hair and no damage. People think that I have naturally thick hair.
Thanks so much for your thorough answer to hair extensions for thin fine hair coming from a kindred hair lady. I wonder what you think of the halo extensions or if you have tried them?
Thank you for making these videos!! I have fine thin hair and it is soooo hard to find videos where others actually have fine/thin hair! ❤❤❤ Thank you for sharing!
Fine hair is awful, thank you for being so authentic and sharing your experience. My son is a very talented stylist and he was worried about my reaction after they come out, and you reaffirmed what would happen. You are such a beautiful young woman and your sweet personality shines through. And you are VERY smart for giving your hair a break. You are amazing!
You are so gorgeous with such a beautiful soul, you don't need any extra hair!!!!! I am going through this right now and I need to take them out!!!!! Thank you so much!
I absolutely love your honest review. I also agree that your new short hair cut is totally you and let me say that what makes you beautiful is not just your hair ... you are honest and brave and so sweet and strong and yes beautiful ❤ as women we have many insecurities but we have to uplift each other and accept our individual beauty and what makes us unique and special.
You're such a sweetheart! Thank you for this video! Have you thought about a wig too? I once tried but I thought it was visible and didn't like it... Maybe it was not well done...
Have you tried HALO removable hair extensions? Also, thank you for sharing your experience! I have been looking into extensions recently and found that my salon works with a brand called HALO. They have an option for a hair intentions that you can take on and off but they are not clip ins. They sit on your hair with a clear wire, like a headband that wraps around your head under your existing hair. It sounds PERFECT for you! They style separately so no heat damage on your real hair, don't have to sleep in them and they are around $500-$800 and can last for years with proper care. You can even get them customized with color and cut by your hair stylist ( since they are only available through a salon) and they actually look the best with shorter hair like yours!
Hey ❤ thanks for this video. About your thin hair, you could try using coconut oil on them regularly (the pure one, no added chems). Apply them on before you sleep and take a shower the next day. Keep doing this and youll have a healthier hair, scalp and it'll help the volume in the long run. Just a suggestion :)
You are such a beautiful person, inside and outside Taylor. This video I can relate to in so many ways, as me and my mom and most of the women on my moms side struggle with hair on our chins. Its genetic and I feel so self conscious, especially my mom at times. Ive learned to personally live with it. By watching you, I can relate to the struggles with societys beauty standards and its not easy! Thank you for this video. I love your whimsical personality and this video has truly brighten my day.
Have you ever tried clip-ins? I use them all the time. They have never damaged my hair. When I feel like having full hair, I wear them, and when I don't, I don't do any thing. But I like that the option for me is always there.
She is one of the most beautiful ladies I have ever seen, all aspects of her soul and attitudes of life. Makes wish I was 50 years younger. Good luck kid
Dear Taylor, the rightly done extensions should not hurt a bit. If they are pulled tight too much in the capsule or too high close to the skin then they hurt. The capsule should be very tiny, when you run your fingers through your hair you should hardly feel it. They should be a size of the rice. I had them done twice and i am soo happy! I even went to the girl in Bev Hills that did my extensions and took a whole course and learned from the best how to do them. Thank you for your honest review. You are so beautiful with and without the extensions. Your natural beauty shines and warms the heart!
I have alopecia and can relate. Other options are toppers that clip onto the top of your head, easy to take off and on. Also I would highly recommend anyone else with thin hair like me to go to a trichologist - mine introduced me to light therapy and it's caused so much hair growth after regular use for one to two years, which I never thought would happen for me after hair loss for ten years! Remember thin hair doesn't define you and no-one judges us like we judge ourselves.
25:13 Hello Taylor and thank you so much for posting this! I too have fine thin hair and have never had hair very far past my shoulders due to its thinness. Your story was very touching to me. You have inspired me to get extensions! I got the beaded extensions yesterday afternoon! I look like a totally different person! It is truly amazing how one can feel so pretty and different with some nice hair! The beaded extensions I got are a tiny band that gets pushed up every two months or so. They are supposed to allow your hair to grow and get healthy (we'll see). They did feel a little weird and tight sleeping on them last night, but heck, I'll deal with that lol to have a nice head of hair! My concern is that if I'm outside and the wind blows people will see the extensions. I can always wear a hat lol! This is the first time I have had longer hair past my shoulders, and it looks so pretty! I know this lovey head of hair will boost my confidence! I'm hoping that if you consider giving extensions another try, you try the beaded extensions and video your journey again. You covered a lot of my questions and were so open and honest. P.S. You are a beautiful girl and I wish you the best!
Hi Taylor - I wish I’d seen this just a bit earlier as I just got k-tips today for the first time. I’m 67 years old, and I was born this way, with the hair of a two year old. My hair is much thinner than yours on top so I had the ktips put in just the top of my head. I don’t think they should bother sleep at all. I did this so perhaps my scalp won’t show in the photos for my granddaughters college graduation. I am now a bit concerned for the removal. Thank you for sharing your journey.
It's true, it is a journey we have to go on - in hope that we can change it. But it is the card we have been dealt. You are beautiful regardless and your hair also looks cute without extensions. Thank you for sharing your experience, it is useful to know for future options. I am contemplating investing in some clip ins, but because my hair is so fine and breaks easily, I am worried about the weight on my hair. Anyway have a good day 😊
Thank you for sharing this-it really touched me. I felt so seen as I listened to you, and it even brought tears to my eyes. My hair type is very similar to yours; babyfine. And for the longest time, I believed, "If only I had more hair, maybe I’d be seen as beautiful." Even though people have told me that I'm pretty, I never really believed it. Extensions did give me a confidence boost when I tried them years ago, and I’m considering them again. But at the same time, I want to learn how to feel beautiful as I am, without them. And indeed - I don't have much hair to loose and fear that they would leave my hair in an even worse condition. I have to say, looking at you, I truly see beauty-your face is stunning, and I believe you would be beautiful even without any hair at all. I just wish I could see myself in that way, too.
Right there with ya sister! I’ve always had fine hair but lots of it. At 62 my hair has been thinning the last 3-4 years. I had Bellamy wefts professionally installed using the beads and hand tied method. My hair length was right above shoulder, extensions added length down to the top of my boobs. The wefts were very thick and heavy, I constantly felt the weight pulling on my own hair and didn’t know how to style it so I cut it just below shoulder level. I was advised not to wash/style extensions everyday and to condition them heavily which made my fine hair limp. My hair gets oily so I tried dry shampoo in between washes, UGH! Then I tried bending over the sink, washing just the top section of my hair on non-shampoo days after my shower (extra time and effort). My fine hair dried really fast but the wefts took forever to dry so I tended to leave them damp towards the root area. I also began to worry that I was not able to clean my scalp thoroughly under them. My scalp began to itch 2 weeks in and by 4 weeks it itched so badly that I had my husband remove the extensions. POST REMOVAL: itching continued until I began using anti fungal shampoos. My hair was in a weird state looking so much thinner and disfigured. After 1-2 weeks my hair began to style as usual and did not seem quite so thin. I couldn’t have grown new hair that fast ergo ‘disfigured’ hair, LOL.
Thank you for your honesty. That was wonderful. I do want to recommend that you don't use the bonds. With your fineness, you want to go with a handtied weft method such as IBE or a sew in weave. You wont have those hard feeling bits to deal with. You will be so much happier with the install. It's also not as heavy feeling and the grow out looks much less noticeable. Just an idea to experiment.
Hi girl, not sure if anyone else has recommended Ollaplex #3 , I noticed you had gotten the #5 conditioner and K18. You can also get professional ollaplex treatments at the salon and they can even add this to bleach when you get highlights to keep your hair from getting as damaged. Hope that helps..I fell into the category of getting extensions and never going back to my natural hair, trying different types and now have wefts installed..for me, the ktips seemed like the most damaging of all especially as the hairdressers I had at the time did not cut the keratin bonds into smaller pieces to accommodate my hair texture. Thanks for this video, I definitely identified with a lot of your emotions throughput!
We have the same hair! Fragile and THIN. When you spun your hair at the beginning, I was like - yup! It’s the thickness of a pencil. 😭😭 I used JZ Style tape ins for a year and a half and, although there was a bit of a learning curve where initially I had some damage, my hair ended up being longer and thicker than ever before in my entire life!! I didn’t use hot tools on my hair more than a couple times a week because I put oil in my hair then braided it for bed, and this left a curl that was totally adequate for my day-to-day look. I think the extensions helped protect my hair from damage, too. I had breakage in areas that I didn’t have extensions, but not as much where I had the extensions. My scalp started reacting to the adhesive in the tape ins so I’ve switched to weft extensions, and I’ve been experimenting with the best way to sew them in. Jury is still out on if these will be good for my hair or not. I lost 30lbs recently and had some hair loss associated with that, which skewed my results a bit. Anyways, thanks for the honest and vulnerable review. 💙
I used to make my own clip in extentions because I wanted different colours in my hair and didn't want to keep changing my hair colour because I know it damages it over time. Now I've figured out how to do my red without doing much damage because I've had stylists severely damage my hair with bleach in the past. Not sure if this would be helpful but I use Acure shampoo and conditioner and it doesn't strip all the natural oils out while I'm washing it. It's very gentle on my hair and scalp and my hair doesn't seem to really get oily or anything anymore. Most shampoos and conditioners strip too much from your hair. I started using it because of my scalp issues. Everything I tried even hypoallergenic cause my scalp to feel like it was on fire and severely itchy. None of that happens after switching 10 years ago. My stylist now says my hair is extremely healthy despite me colouring it and using my hair dryer and straightener. Not sure if Acure would be helpful for you since it's really gentle.
There was a reason that fancy salon no longer did hair extensions. Any places that still do extensions usually make you sign waivers saying their not liable for damage or hair loss.
You are literally my hair sister I didn’t know ANYBODY ELSE OUT THERE had hair like mine. And it’s been the same way my entire life too you took the words straight out of my mouth the other girls at school would ask me why my hair would never grow and extensions were the only thing that made me feel beautiful I’m not 30 and trying to salvage my hair
Thank you so much for your video. Not only is it informative like you said, eloquent, and detail focused on the questions that we may have, but also your voice and demeanor are very likable. I currently have keratin hair extensions and found this relatable. I wanted to ask if possible, did you get to keep the hair extensions that your extensionist removed? The reason I’m asking is, I thought it would be less pricey to maintain rather than start all over which could contribute to the “addiction”. So I thought they use the previous extensions to remodel. I am also almost one month into having these extensions and am considering the shorter bixie Style when the 3-4 months are up.
As always honest and real. Thankyou for being vulnerable on camera. I have the flip problem which means lots on your head but lots everywhere else so hair removal is my challenge. You are gorgeous xxx
I have fine, thin but wavy hair. I've lost a lot of hair from my youth. I decided 2 yrs ago to get wavy tape ins for an event. It was gorgeous, just below the shoulders and felt wonderful. Cons: it tangled ALL the time. But fast forward 1 month later I decided to remove them. No matter how gentle, tons of my hair came out. Understand you are putting double/triple the weight of your own hair on just a few strands of hair all over your head - and it has to hold it, then experience any additional tug from wind, comb, washing, touching. My hair went through shock. Lost 50% of hair that was already thin. For weeks it came out in clumps whenever I showered (no matter how gentle). It was devastating. One year later it was healthier and grew so fast, but still thin. As much as I loved the look of extensions, it isn't good for girls with thin/delicate hair - it will break!
So don't be afraid to wash every day if it makes you feel better :)
Much luck to all of my fellow fine-haired beauties. It can be so hard on your confidence, but just know we could be dealt MUCH worse cards and everything will be okay. You're amazing with or without hair ❤️
Thank you
You should try arrow root powder in your hair over night (on the night of the day you washed your hair).
But head stimulating with a good brush is very good 😉
Had to save up for a "year" just to get some hair extensions...then goes to Europe for three weeks. 🤔
❤
Can you tell me where you buy clip ins. Is it human hair 75% of my hair has fallen out due to a disease
I wishhh people were just this honest. How pure. Thank you!
The way your stylist cut your hair towards the end looks so magical like a Disney princess it looked so thick!
I cry every day because of my hair but now you help me really a lot. We are not alone in this...Thank you ❤
Im with you too girl.. Its hard, we arw bombardrd with huge heads of fabulous hair everyday. We are fab too!
Amen
I am losing my hair, I am on minoxidil + supplements now and I am wearing tape in hair extensions without any damage nor regrets! I am living my best life again!
I had to remove my tape in due to my hair loss to find out if it was the hair extensions and tried so many oil and serum. in fact I just needed a dermatologist and I asked her if hair extensions where the cause? it wasn't at ALL.
@@nat-in4svwhat did the dermatologist say?
I agree
that's literally not even the point.
It’s very kind of you to share this very personal journey. I’m sure you’re helping many women.
Kathy
Did you try vitamins?
every time i saw someone talk about their fine/thin hair, and its still 4x thicker than mine... felt bad, lol!
I am told I have A LOT of it, but my ponytail is still pitiful and wanting 😐
I’ve been considering extensions and have a consultation scheduled, so seeing your video today was SO important & timely.
I sleep in a silk bonnet and wear protective styles, especially in winter (coarse wool sweaters and jacket zippers are not my friends!)
Some people's hair is like a sturdy ceramic mug -- it can be neglected, even abused, and will resist breaking.
How wide is your hair part? Mine is wide and I'm afraid the rubber band would be easily seen. Can you share any insights? My hair is very thin.

You have the sweetest soul. Thank you for being so vulnerable and honest. ❤
Thank you for being so brave and vulnerable. I sincerely appreciate it. I needed an honest review. I learned so much
It’s very comforting seeing someone who feels the same way about their hair as I do about mine online.
Although in theory a high lift color seems less damaging, it is not. Flash highlights are still the best bet and infrequent highlights is key.
Thank you so much!!
You are the first person ive seen whose hair is actually like mine! Thank you so much!
❤ we're not alone with it!
Thank you. Thank you for your honesty. You're a good person. And Congratulations on your engagement. I hope he deserves you.
Trust me your distress is nothing like hers or mine. Salt in our wounds hearing this.
I appreciate you making this video so much I’ve been looking for one just like this. Your honesty means alot ❤
Awww. You are so stinking adorable and so sweet. Broke my heart for you when you cried. Felt like I needed to reach through the phone and hug you. 🥺
This was extremely helpful! And what a sweet kind young lady!
I have fine hair and I truly appreciate your helpful tips and honesty.
I recommend tape in extension!
You can do it by your self and its minimum damage
I have thin hair and I have fell in LOVE with halo extensions
This is exactly what I was about to comment!
Thank you for sharing!
Have you tried the Spoiled Child line? I’ve noticed a pretty big difference
I appreciate you speaking about this so much ❤ you are absolutely beautiful!!!
Did u try it?
Thank you so much for this video, I also have thin hair and wanted to know the process of hair extensions. 😊 so helpful 😊❤
Oh! you do have them lmao I wasn't finished watching when I wrote this.
Do you recommend a brand?
Thank you so much for this video. Can't tell you how much this helped me in making a very tough decision
What treatments did you get in the salon? (Not something you can do at home) Did you have a keratin treatment?
Very well done. I am sure this will help a lot of girls. Keep up the good work. I respect your effort.
I used JZ Style tape ins for a year and a half and, although there was a bit of a learning curve where initially I had some damage, my hair ended up being longer and thicker than ever before in my entire life!!
The Halo extentions ARE AMAZING!!
Thank you for sharing your journey!
