    Hi, Anne Marie, two things: One, I'm so glad to see you giving vocal instructions vs. music. You are so talented and experienced and have so much to offer new, moderate and veteran soapers. I have learned so much from you over the years and still do. Two, I still recommend goggles for your rebatch due to my unfortunate and PAINFUL experience. A few years ago I made hot process and wore goggles. After the long cook (it's now soap, you know) I didn't wear them to mold it. Tapping it down, a piece flew up and hit me in the eye: ouch times one thousand! Even well cured soap burns the eyes, plus hot process/rebatch soap is very hot so it burns your eyes twice. Thanks for another GREAT video!

      @hilaallnaturalsoaps9628 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I agree. Especialy hot process that (let's face it) sometimes the PH could be still high after the cooking procss. I am taking off the gloves but never the goggles and I told your story in my channel so that other soapers will do the same .

    Wow, what a lesson and this video is from two years ago, which is when I first started to experiment with soap making, body butters, etc....not at the level of CP yet, but getting there. Thank you, Annmarie, I bought your book "Pure Soapmaking". I am so busy watching your videos I haven't gotten to the book, but I will, I must. You are so informative. I have watched many other DIY videos, but I keep coming back to you. You're easy to listen to. Your illustrations are excellent. I bought a kit from you for my guy customers and it sold out! One of my customers like what I made from your ingredients that he threw away all of his store bought shaving products...! Wow! Thank you, Bramble Berry...will be buying more from you and will keep learning--from you.

      Shauna Rabinowitz try it in a crockpot instead of the direct heat method. So much easier. And you can add additional liquid if you would like. Keeping in mind like Ann-Marie said, the more liquid, the longer it may take to get hard. And also remember that Anne-Marie is an enormously talented soap maker. So don’t get discouraged that your first attempt was not as great as hers. You can definitely use the rebatch method...you got this 😊

    Hi! I bought your beginner cold process kit, and I have LOVED it. Made some great soaps so far. But I had one batch that just would. not. harden. I feel sure I weighed everything correctly, so I'm not sure what happened. Would rebatching work on a soap that never quite hardened? I *hate* the idea of it going to waste. Thanks! 😊

    • @bramble-berry
      @bramble-berry  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question! Soft soap is usually caused by an incorrect balance of lye and oils. You can try using a dry bar of soap and add it to your soft batch at a larger ratio.

    Rebatch soap is also made from hot process scraps. I hot process because I can add my milks, fragrance, color or superfat at the end of cook after lye is no longer so active and won't affect them or destroy them in the process. It's soooo hard to find information for we hot processors. 😕 But I do find info here that I can use❤

    So I'm guessing that to deliberately make a batch of soap purely for re batching it would best not to have colour or fragrance in? Unless you want, say a pink coloured bar of soap? Also I know you mentioned it at the beginning, but if you made the original soap, say 2 days prior, then made the re batch soap, once it is unmoulded it is ready to use? Don't have to wait 4-6 weeks?

      Fruit could go rancid and ruin your soap, so that is not recommended. You can put flowers into the soap instead of on top, but like she said, the flowers will eventually (sometimes quickly) turn brown, so you will lose all the beautiful color. That's why she put them on top.

I diluted my essential oil into carrier oil and then added it to my soap, so I’m thinkin either i didnt have to dilute my essencial oil or it needed more drops. Anyways, my real question was, can I rebatch this just now or do I need to wait the 4 to 6 weeks of curing before rebatching?

    • @makeit2649
      @makeit2649 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, rebatching is different from making hot process soap. Usually you would choose to rebatch because you have left-over soap bits and pieces from some projects, or you didn't like the way a particular batch turned out. Contrary to what she said, you can start with cold-processed soap or hot-processed soap. Simply shred, melt, and spoon it into the mold.

      Yes, you can. You may need to add more water than with a cold process rebatch depending on how long it has been since you made the bars.

    Question I want to make 4lbs so how much of the Luxury should I buy?

    • @bramble-berry
      @bramble-berry  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      In this recipe our 45 ounces of rebatch filled our 50 ounce soap mold, so I would recommend adding about 1 ounce of shredded rebatch extra per 10 ounces to get a full mold.

    How old can "fresh" cold process soap be when rebatching?

      You can rebatch cold process soap at any time. However, the older the soap the more water you will need to add to your batch.

    I've tried rebatching twice and both times failed miserably. The first was too soft and never set up after eight weeks in the mold, and the second became crumbly and left holes in the mold. I've made several dozen successful batches of cold process so I don't know why rebatching is the thing I just cannot do...

    Why you don't use a whisk or manual blender?

    Hello? Rebatch soap isn't ALWAYS made from cold processed soap. I make my rebatch soap with hot processed soap.

      Me, too! My guess is that she meant that one should not try to use melt and pour products. Dunno.

    Is there any dried flowers that shouldnt be used in soap?? I was told they all turn brown

    • @TessieDobey
      @TessieDobey 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      If you soak your herbs and flowers in water overnight then add them to your batter at light trace they will not turn brown.

    I've seen videos where they add Sodium Lactate. With your Luxury Rebatch Soap, you don't need to add any Sodium Lactate then?

    • @bramble-berry
      @bramble-berry  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Correct! You do not need to add sodium lactate to any of our rebatch or melt and pour bases.
