The Turtle is more wearable because of the lug to lug. Nice piece but 52mm lug to lug is stretching it for me. If this was a 40mm, it would be a no brainer. I have purchased from Mimo in the past and it was a very smooth transaction! You can definitely buy with confidence from him and he always has discount codes!!
I almost bought this watch Christmas 2017. Wish it was under 50mm long as I got tiny wrists. Really like how it has a domed crystal. Didn't even realize that before.
@@seanm3226 I rotate on the wrist everyday, after 10 months keeps +/- 2 seconds a day, wouldn't hesitate to buy again, in fact considering the GMT version. I do wear it on a Bark & Jack NATO, hugs the wrist better than the leather strap. Do a Ebay search, a refurbished model with a 2 year warranty should only set you back $499, incredible watch at that price, tell me what you think if you pick one up, will remain a permanent addition to the collection
Great view and you gave the review this watch deserves . I have just purchased this watch couple days ago and I am in love with. I have a 7.5' wrist so I get away with wearing anything up to 44mm which is my limit . Although the watch has a big presence on my wrist, but because of its high quality and lines is one of these watches that you cannot stop looking at it. And the leather strap combination just gives that expensive luxury look. This is my third Alpina watch and they are worth all the money . Also keeps time at the moment loosing -3 seconds.
Thanks for a very useful and comprehensive review. A have a 7" wrist like you and that 52mm l2l is my only concern. However with 12mm height I think it looks great on your wrist. Alpina and Certina don't receive the love they deserve is because they are too big. They make great watches but unfortunately their dimensions are too large for the average guy. The lug to lug length is what kills the deal for me.
Just a minor comment if I may. I was one of the commenters in the unboxing video that wished this watch were smaller, I do believe 44mm is too big for someone with my wrists even though I also wear a Seiko Turtle at 45mm. But that 45mm measurement on the Turtle includes the cushion case width; the actual dial and bezel itself comes out to 42 or 43mm, smaller than the Alpina.

It's a Sellita SW200 with a custom rotor and decorations, though Alpina says that some watches without display backs (like the Alpiner 4) will have undecorated movements.
Those bloated dimensions simply ruin what’s otherwise a great looking watch. Alpina: take all of your sport/dive watches- reduce the size to about 40mm x 47mm & loose the date windows. Your sales will quadruple, at the least.
I've been collecting watches for 20 years now, and the biggest disappointment is how hard it is for the hobby to be gratifying without buying something all the time. A couple of cures: I can’t understand how this can happened (in the shower) the numeric frame peeled off!!!!! sorry but I feel like I wear cheap product from china, really really big disappointment for me.
