- Are Singaporeans rude to our service staff? Not according to pump attendant Uncle Tay, who finds most Singaporeans friendly, the others… partial.

It's a tough job. No fan, no air-cond. Not many can stand the heat knowing that the weather now can be extreme warm and humid. Thank you Uncle
Not only that, they are exposed to oils & the smells.
Kudos to uncle tay for his positivity n go getter attitude
Uncle Tay has my respect. Not only he doesn't need others to make him happy, he's obligated to make his customers to be happy. Uncle Tay is truly a joyful human being who lives blissfully. I wish Uncle Tay always healthy and happy.
uncle Tay looks just like the man from cartoon UP
Uncle Tay , is someone I definitely would love to be around with… such a vibrant personality that I would love to learn from Uncle Tay…
Respect to ALL these uncles and aunties who are still in service line.
Love the positives vibe from you uncle. same age as my father but he just passed away this year january. Missed him alot.
Stay healthy uncle best wishes for you.
With probably the highest petrol prices in the world, not many drive happily into the gas station in hot weather. It's great to see a cheerful attendant like Mr Tay.
Thank you cutie uncle and all the other service liners for your great services!! We appreciate it ❤❤❤
Got to admit I don’t know how to pump car tyres. The pump attendants are always so helpful. I do hope for better hours and working conditions for our seniors in these ‘retirement jobs’.
Love that Uncle Tay is so cheerful, thanks for spreading positivity a person at a time! (:
It's simple. Check your car driver side for the white sticker showing the recommended pressure for the front and rear tyres. Then go to the air pump machine and + or - to get to the pressure value u need. Then be sure to select car as the vehicle you're pumping. After that, unscrew the tyre cap, and insert the pump nozzle. Hold it there until you hear a beeping sound, then remove the pump nozzle. Rescrew the tyre cap. Repeat this for the other 3 tyres you got.
or u are just plain lazy
What have you done your whole life dawg?
what a lovely guy, this is the spirit of Asia - hard work, good service & sense of community. in england we have exactly the opposite - self-service pumps. i guess it's not so bad - i heard in america the self-service pumps are now asking for tips 🤣
😂😂
Most Americans pump their own gas - it isn't that hard.
Spirit? Call Ghostbusters
Positive and smiley face makes wonderful day
I admire his positive attitude and excellent service! Many service personnel in Singapore should learn from his philosophy. So that the service standard in Singapore can improve. Thank you Uncle Tay for taking pride in your work and bringing smiles to your customers!
We should appreciate the pump attendants more. Theyre doing a service for us and they'll definitely be replaced by self-service pumps in the future. So lets thank them and be courteous to them, because this small part of humanity and community won't last.
That's why I tend to stay with the car while the petrol is being filled up. Mainly to play safe that the right petrol is being filled and the right amount too. Also can talk to the pump assistants sometimes.
I'll look for uncle tay next time haha the station he works at is only 5 mins drive away from my place
OGS you should do an episode on the SBS bus coordinators at kranji station and woodlands checkpoint.
This
Thanks for the idea! We’ll check it out ☺️
Incredible of Uncle Tay to be able to do his job with a smile on his face like that.
Uncle Tay, may u be blessed with great health to continue spreading the positivity
Honestly....Uncle Tay is LUCKY....to have a VERY SATISFYING Job...at this age..Majority of Us WORK ALL DAY LONG n GRUMBLE over Minor things in Life...(X S'porean Work as PUMP ATTENDANT too but not in S'pore...Learned a LOT About CARS...n HONESTLY it's NOT EASY TO ENTERTAIN Customers...than the Car itself....(BOTTOMLINE is RESPECT EVERYTHING we DO....coz LIFE is SHORT...
While waiting for my NS enlistment, i joined to work as a pump attendant for awhile.. some drivers will asking me is it my full time job working here and i told them NO, its my part time while waiting for NS.. they seem like surprised and told me this job is for seniors that is retire, etc.. but its ok any aged can work there.. overall its was fun to work as pump attendant.. and also please ask the owners of the cars first before u do anything to their cars.. some may don't like it..
Have a great day, uncle!!
💪💪😎😎
Be nice to pump attendants, don’t be snobbish. If u don’t want your wind shield clean, just let them know…. Give them tips too, u can afford to buy them coffee since u can afford to drive a car in Sg….
Taking a break from driving to pump fuel, I take the opportunity to chit chat with them. I always have friendly and fun conversations with pump attendants, young or senior. It makes my day and hopeful it makes their day more enjoyable too.
That’s nice to hear! Pretty sure it makes their day too ❤
In Malaysia, DIY from filling up petrol/diesel and air for your tyres.
Please appreciate their work.
No Not 64, He's Age 59 years old this year.
Born in 1965.
Hi, in our conversation with Uncle Tay, he was born in the year 1960 🙂
Positive energy ❤
Over the course of time if you want to you will start to realise when you look at people in your life and the streets you are not looking at professions but the energy people radiate out of themselves. Some are just light giving entities mraning they glow and send out good vibes to the surrounding while others are just sending out gloomy energies.
We are kind of like crystals. You just need to know what kind of crystal you are in life thats all and how you affect yourself and others while you are moving about going through your things in life.
We used to have attendants at stations in Australia apparently. Have been gone for a long time, since before I was born so I don't know what it was like. I imagine similar to what Uncle Tay does. It unfortunately will never happen but they should bring such a service back .
Uncle Tay is such a nice man 😊
Uncle Teh looks like a nice guy.
DA GE Tay
HUATTTTT AHHHHHH
Stay well to
Stay strong Brother
Wah next time i go n pump caltex
Make a living just tolerate and understand some like to bullying attendant. Please don't do this people make a living. It could one day ur relative is on the job.then u start to think how people make a living feel.
His attitude is 1000%!
The elderly in Singapore should be enjoying themselves in their golden years.
Actually it is more often to encounter indifferent or unfriendly service personnel
Well done uncle Tay, respect. Unfortunately i don't drive.
don't understand why petrol station in Singapore is not self served yet
Respect for his duties.
In my country... You do it yourself.
The attendance dont even want to shit you.. 🤣
I wonder if they know how pump petrol and fill up tyre pressure by themselves or not 🤣
this uncle is definitely different from the other 99.99% of attendants in Singapore. lol.
Hello Uncle Tay, from New Zealand😃
utmost respect
Diesel fuel nozzles are bigger than petrol , can’t make mistake.
What's the average monthly pay for a pump attendant in singapore?
Uncle is so nice...
Its not compulsory to have pump attendants at petrol stations in many parts of the world. I am tickled sometimes when i know it is mandatory to have pump attendants in Singapore.
Maybe they are scare the public in Singapore wont know how to use and put back the pump properly or with consideration after using it which can be a real cincern if you have seen how some of the bad drivers with lousy characters and attentiveness behave before.
I will come & visit you, uncle Tay.
Why do these types of jobs exist in a high-wage economy like Singapore?. In many European countries petrol stations are completely automated and self-service…..
Singapore is not high wage for people like this. There is no minimum wage. The man who pumps my fuel here told me he was 86 years old and was working 6 x 8hr shifts a week for S$1400.
@@deano3580 Why does an 86-year old need to work full time in a rich Asian society like Singapore? I thought you Asians had 'filial piety'?
Not enough job around in Singapore.
With 110K COE, car owners are always v uptight about their automobile.
power uncle tay
60/40? More like 90% Singaporeans do not know how to say please and thank you. You can draw your own conclusions from that.
Slayyy uncle tay
I can’t find uncle Tay, I don’t even own a car
Respect ❤
people who drive but dunno how to pump tire, really have no business driving
You haven't seen Singaporeans pump petrol in Malaysia 😂⛽😂
No doubt, Singaporeans are experts when they come to pump petrol in Malaysia. They jacked up one side of the car to pump more petrol.
Its because singapore got stupid high tax on car, so anyone that drive they think its the best thing since sliced bread.
I alws worry for their health as they inhale petrol fume whole life day
how much the salary roughly?
Roughly around $2100.
Caltex upper serangoon
Nowadays drivers don't even know how to pump petrol. OMG
Uncle.tay don't care about it. You never ask for return. They think they are
Somebody ever human have a pride rich middle class not every worker can orders think before say anything. To all allau asoh anek ache and pachik machik strong health work end of the month take salary ya hoo
Bye bye the end.
👍🏽
Soon will be out of a job!
HELLO UNCLE SINGAPOREAN HAD TO PAY ABOUT 3 TO 4 TIMES MORE FOR A CAR IN SINGAPORE THAT WHY CAR IS MORE PRECIOUS THEN LIFE. GOV MAKE A LOT OF EASY MONEY BY BILLION.😱😱😱😱
usa has no pumpers...sg should not have pump attendants ,,...save manpower
youd be surprised at the number of drivers who do not know how to pump petrol
@@faehimmirza2381then don’t buy a car 🤷♂️
Some US states still have pumpers by law. New Jersey is one. And pump attendants exists so that these people have a job, don't take away their ricebowl.
@faehimmirza2381 I second that. Coz driving school didn't teach 😂
Well maybe the USA people should save 1 or their 2 braincells by actually being sensible and using a measurement system that makes sense instead of this inch/foot/yard/mile bullshit. Also, they are fat.
❤❤❤
We dont need such a unnecessary job. Only country in the world to mandate pump attendants. Cut out the middleman to reduce costs and make it more efficiency
Your comment is also unnecessary.
@@FT-od4xv likewise
It’s a service that gas stations can provide, I wouldn’t say it’s an unnecessary job. At least it provides additional income fore retirees , an alternate to being a security guard. Gasoline cost is based on oil cost, so not likely the litre of gas will b cheaper. Pumping gas either by owner or attendant is the same so what efficiency were u referring to?
@@david888aIt is precisely an unnecessary job thats why you see no difference between pumping on your own vs letting the attendant pump for u
@@chimmichua1986 it’s a service like I stated n it provides jobs to retirees n that’s a good thing…
