Hi Marion, Wow that looks amazing. I wanted to ask, I normally try not to use peppercorns. I do love the taste, but there always seems to be some small hard crunchy bits in the dish I’m using it with. Is it the way I’m grinding the peppercorns or is it normal I have crunchy bits when eating meals with peppercorns? 🧡

I have never made mapo tofu at home, and I wanted to try it on noodles, so Google showed me this video! I had mapo tofu in the restaurant many times, and it was usually eaten with rice. 😀

Great recipe! As someone who grew up in Sichuan I can say that this one hits most of the points of a traditional Mapo tofu. One suggestion I have is to sprinkle the Sichuan pepper corn powder in the end after the dish is done rather than during cooking. The aromatic component of Sichuan pepper corn is highly volatile and can easily evaporate during cooking.

I love the subtle "cheering crowd" sound effect dubbed in at strategic moments in the video (like when the pork mince is add to the hot wok). It's silly fun, and just one of the numerous creative production values that make Marion's vids stand out from her Y/T competitors (peers?). Keep up the great work, guys and gals! 👏

To be fair Marion, I get that sensory satisfaction from cutting flan, or even crumbly pastries. With smoothly textured foods it's the slide across the surface with very little give, but with anything delicate it's also soo satisfying to see visual proof one's dexterity to cut and divide something that could *spectacularly* fall apart in that process. It's one of life's little pleasures. 😊

The fish sauce has saltiness and I believe some of the other components (bean paste, etc) have salt added.
