ABOUT MARION
Marion Grasby is a food producer, television presenter and cookbook author who's had a life-long love affair with Asian food.
Marion is a little bit Thai (courtesy of her mum) and a little bit Australian (courtesy of her dad).
Marion lives in Bangkok, Thailand and travels throughout Asia to find the most unique and delicious Asian food recipes, dishes and ingredients.
I am from Xi'an and 'you po mian' ( Chinese name of the one you are making ) is one of our most beloved local noddles. It's really simple but delicious dish and thank you for making it. One thing I want to point out is: the chillie flakes and garlic release their flavours best when they were dry and have hot oil poured on top of them. Then you can add everything you like in there like you did.
I love how she's honest about the noodles not being fully cooked.
I really appreciated that. I loved her energy. 🤗🤗🤗
actually I think that she could add a little bit more cold water to chill them down, when it boil again, do it again and for the last boil every thing should be quite done.
@@mictimo Ah yes the method my parents taught me how to cook like noodle and dumplings. Always 3 cold water add.
10 minute challenge, 6 minutes of chuckling
The chuckling, the slurping sounds, the caveats, and all the second guessing gave me "I don't really know what I am doing" vibes; making what should have been easy, appear confusing.😶
Yes
Absolutely
Subsequent videos are much better because there’s voiceover and not so much talking.
Yes all that chuckling is a bit irritating
ABOUT MARION Marion giggles a lot and clearly loves cooking and is the reason I have bookmarked this recipe. Brilliant! Made it before and making it again tonight, sooo good! Thankyou Marion!
Omg this is the most adorable chef I've ever seen! She was giving cool boss vibes the whole show!
I think the point is the hot oil flash cooks the garlic and pepper flakes in the bowl. If you add all of the other sauce ingredients before adding the oil, the garlic and pepper flakes are warmed but aren't flash cooked. I'm not so good on the art of cooking, but I'm all about the science of cooking. :-)
I love that you didn't cheat by having everything ready to go before you started the 10-minute timer.
And your pappardelle would've been perfect if you'd just listened to Hayley and dropped it in to cook a minute or so earlier. Moral of the story: listen to Hayley!
Totally!! Listen to Hayley should be my new mantra! 😆
You and Your Mumma are awesome
I mean, she did have two kinds of chili oil already made, which most people don't have available. Most recipes start from scratch with some chili flakes or Gochugaru. This looks like a great recipe nonetheless, but I do think the noodles were swimming in oil 😕
For the dramatic hot oil pouring, the oils needs to be HOT (use a vegetable oil and wait until it start to smoke a little yes Asian mom trick). Assemble your fragrance on top of the noodles then you can just pour the hot oil on top to impress your guests and voila
can't you just put the oil in the wok and pour the liquid in the wok with the hot oil and heat for 20 seconds?
Carcinogens
Please do more of these videos. The contagious laughter is awesome!
Don't you ever worry about talking too much. Every time I follow your videos I feel like we're having a lovely chat in the kitchen together while I try to replicate your brilliant recipes 😊❤️👍
Which goes well precisely because your recipes are so good!
This definitely looks much more relaxed than Gordon's 10 Minutes Challenge series. :-)
I feel like those are only 10 minutes because he’s moving as fast as humanly possible 😂😂
😅
Pan down pan down
@@lburnett85 love that..... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
True its just kinda chaotic cause its always so in a hurry. But that’s the difference between a professional chef and a worldwide michelin star chef cause he is used to work in hurry cause of very strict time management with the food.
Hmm, I think things are a bit backward here. The hot oil is used to lightly cook the garlic and chili flake which makes the chili oil. So the order would have been noodles then pile of garlic and chili on top in a pile. Perhaps also some green onion. Then pour hot oil on the garlic to get that sizzle going. Then add vinegar and soy sauce and what ever else you want really. Toss and yum.
Yeah, I think this recipe is a little weird too with respect to the order of the ingredients. I love chili oil and noodles, but this dish has just too much oil in it for my taste....
So good!! Of course I’m horrible with measurements, but each time I make this I’m eyeballing it better and better. 😋
Gotta love how the people behind the camera told you to get the noodles into the pot, and instead of getting the noodles into the pot, you spent a minute explaining that the people behind the camera were worried about whether or not your noodles would be ready in time... :P Either way, it looks delicious! Not a dish I've ever had before, but it looks simple enough to make, and I'd love to try it some time.
Hey we love any video you upload. Wether a 10min one or 20mins. We love to watch you cook. Wether you pass a challenge ir fail. Your videos are great fun.
As very well explained by Alex from the channel FrenchGuyCooking, dried pastas are not an inferior version of fresh pastas, they're a different things, and if you want to get the "Al dente" feel, you need dried pastas. So I believe it may even be the best option here :)
Perfect for my sahoor when I wake up late 😄
I absolutely love all Marian’s videos and evert recipe I try works wonders
My kiddos said you can find the chilli oil recipe in her book!
I just got it last night as a belated Christmas present. I love it!
If Mama Noi ever comes out with a book I will by that as well!!!
Kup Khun muy kop!!!
Kob koon mak krab
Awww thank you for buying my book and I hope you love it!!! ❤️❤️❤️
@@Marionskitchen I love it. Made a dish last night! Vietnamese Caramel Chicken...it was so good. Definitely did not make enough😆😆😆
Oh my god when you stop and chat it gives me anxiety! Lol!! Clock is ticking! Looks delicious 😋
😅
I love her energy and sense of fun!
Reminds me of making aglio olio. It's just that the olive oil shouldn't get to smoking point but you mix the chili and parsley with it before putting the noodles/pasta in the pan.
I love the A-sha hakka style wide noodles. Costco used to have them but I don't see them any more. Trying to find them is soooo hard and you can only order them. This recipe saved me so much! Thanks soooo much!
My stomach is burning and churning just from watching all that chili she added 🥺
Pappardelle noodles work really well with this recipe
Marion very satisfying. Fast, natural and lots of laughs! More of these videos!
This gave me so much anxiety. She definitely could’ve cooked the noodles in time but she took forever to start
your food is the literally the best!
Hope you show us a dessert recipe for Chinese New Year; thank you.
how can you not now pasta need 15min cook lol
On a lighter note without laughing it will take only 5 minutes but I like your cooking with fun and laugh 😃
Having that timer on was stressing me out!🤣🤣🤣and I’m not the one cooking!
Wow. A very nice preparation
Ahh this brings back so many memories of you as a contestant on MasterChef Australia~ and still my favorite today!
Been awhile so glad to be back.
I made your chilli oil. I use it on dumplings and noodles. So Good. My stomach growls every time you eat. I think you enjoy food as much as I do.
Hi Marion!!
I am a follower of your channel and I love all your recipes!
I am from Spain and despite not speaking English I watch all your videos, but I miss subtitles in Spanish.
I do not have that option to activate since only English subtitles come out.
.I'm sure there are many Spanish-speaking people who follow you and it would be great to have subtitles.
If you can do something about it we would be very grateful.
And your books in Spanish would also be great!
.
nice to see Spanish like asian Chinese noodle spicy haha. i like your Paella and Spanish movie xx
I can imagine this paired with fried shrimps or squid, or even chicken! 💛
Would have to be chicken thigh, but prawns, mussel and squid would make this sensational
We don't talk that much when we cook our 10 min noodle.
Glad you popped in my feed, I subscribed because I was laughing alot because of the clock thing and your personality 😂....blessings !
Marion’s channel is addictive 😍
The food looks amazing!
My inner Monica Gellar was having a total meltdown with the talking/giggling. Let me be clear, I ADORE Marion and love her bubbly personality. But I was mentally urging her to MOVE ,MOVE, MOVE!!! And once again, another amazing recipe! 👏
Same, I GOT ANNOYED
I tried this recipe and it is ooh ooh ooh lalala.. Super nice and my GO TO dry noodles now
I think you should pour the hot sizzling oil to the condiments first instead of adding the chili oil. But still great job, under 10 minutes!
I watched this video twice because it was funny. ❤️❤️❤️
I knew there was a reason I stayed up til 1am!
I knew she stuffed up as soon as she didn't put the DRIED pasta in the water straight away after pressing the timer 😅
Just now I noticed how much edition this woman needs to seem coherent while cooking
She laughs for like 6 minutes hahaha love ♥
Tried it out today. Great recipe!
Will definitely do that, easy to follow and all ingredients are readily available
Hahah as an instant (dried) pasta lover , knew that pasta wasn’t gonna get fully cooked unless it’s been 9 or 10 minutes XD
I tried to enjoy the cooking part but dear lord I got anxiety instead
The dish looks really spicy but the video is so refreshing. Good job, Marion!
Thank you for this recipe. I want to try with shirataki. Maybe switch
Coriander with kefir lime leave. And put pan fish on the side
If y’all havnt invested in a zanussi garlic press yet ITS THE HEST THJNG EVER. Just throw the clove in with skins and everything press together and your car pic comes out perfect?? It’s magic. Saves so much time.
This is the most stressful Marion video I've ever watched! 🤣🤣
😅
I have made your chilli oil, it's delicious, but it'll also blow your head off with heat, love it 🔥
I love these noodles 🍜😋
I love the preparations
This cooking channel just made my day
I ordered her book. So excited to finally get it!
Nice and easy. But it did look like a *lot* of oil?! I counted almost 6 tablespoons of chili oil + at least 2 tablespoons of oil within the chili crisp, and then at least quarter cup of heated oil 😳!
You should put the hot oil first to sizzle & cook the garlic & then the cold chilli oil & sauces
I think the chef is well baked
you're stressing me so much with this counter aaaaaaaah but definitely delicious. Thanks a lot for the recipe
I know I was subscribed but I wasn't...I am now! ❤
Team work!!!
You are the cutest and I LOVE all your videos ❤️
Hi Marion! Sending you love all the way from Malaysia❤️❤️❤️
who else dislikes these kinds of videos? its so stressful and i honestly couldnt care less if you made it in 10 mins or not.
yum, made this for dinner tonight, I did add chicken. You can still make it in about 10mins, just cut the chicken thin :-)
I love the way you cook
Na WA for this food oo!
Oh. My. GAW! This looks incredible!! I can’t wait to try this.
Yeah you beat the clock love this dish
Bahaha, the anxiety I felt over not putting in the pasta was overwhelming!!! Lol 🤣😅 Loved this Marion!!! ❤️❤️
You made it! It's amazing to cook in 10minute!!
I can’t wait to test this
I prefer leisurely cooking!
I'm trying it!
You definitely did it!! 😀
Marions you alwys help small chefs with wonderful content recipe Chilli oil noodles looks so delicious you are also so beautiful and well tutorial thanks for sharing
I'm not sure if they have, but would love for Marion to collab with Mark Wiens one day. Their passion for food... Oh wow 😊😍😋
normally Spaghetti con Olio e Aglio, a recipe from Sicilia.. i'm half german, half italian :) many greetings from Brunswick in Germany..
Next time I put lukewarm or any temperature water in the kettle but I put specifically hot water in the pot let that boil for a bit take the hot kettle water and mix the two put the noodles in to boil once they start to froth up take off the lid let it go back down cover it again repeat that until it bubbles up five times and then your noodles will be done.
it Looks yummy full of nutrients
so much paper and root in the garlic cloves... take a clove, cut the root end off, smack it under a knife, and the garlic just falls out.
Looks Yum.
Some crispy lard with this will be soooo good !
I'm glad she's calling it a challenge as it seems like an unprepared video lol I've seen tik tok videos for this 10 minutes noodle and seems like it's possible. Was curious to see Marion's version. 👀
I just made these and they were great. Next time I will use less vinegar.
I'm gonna make them for my Mrs now
I love your cooking
You are supposed to pour hot oil over dry spices and sesame, so they are partially fried, then add liquid like soy sauce and black vinegar. Finally, mix in the noodles.
You can do it Marion - love your cooking
that looks fantastic
Next time you should make a video of three salads. Vietnamese salmon noodle salad, gado gado, Vietnamese crunchy noodle beef salad.
You have a lot of Spices, cooking IS fun 🥰🥰
